from Denver, Colorado Date Reviewed: April 29, 2003 | | Favoriate Trail: | Porcupine Rim | | Duration Product Used: | Less than 1 month | | Purchased At: | Gift from gal | | Strengths: | Good traction, mine holds air | | Weaknesses: | $55 retail and watch it melt away! | | Similar Products Used: | Specialized s-works Rockster 1.9 | | Bike Setup: | Specialized S-Works FSR XC | | Bottom Line: | I'm totally on the fence and leaning away from tubeless tires. There seem to be more hassles than benefits when switching from tubed to tubeless tires. These do have far superior traction than the S-Works Rocksters. Trails in Colorado are loose and rocky. Tubless tires seem to be full of problems here. There durability is highly suspect. It's a bummer to be thinking about your tire's survival rather than hammering down a trail with a big grin on your face! I ride twice a week and only experienced pinch flats rarely with Panaracer Fire XC's and Performance ultr-light tubes. We'll see how this summer goes..... | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

$50.00 | | Strengths: | Traction and bite are fantastic. | | Weaknesses: | Leaky, leaky, leaky. They will go TOTALLY FLAT overnight. Loses noticable pressure DURING A RIDE! Leaks through the sidewall! | | Similar Products Used: | Geax tubeless, Specialized Team Control/Master non-tubeless. | | Bike Setup: | Litespeed Obed F/S - full XTR | | Bottom Line: | The shop where I bought them told me that Specialized says they are "Race Only" tires, and aren't meant to be used as XC tires(?). They say they know they leak, and they can't (won't) do anything about it. Too bad, I REALLY liked the non-tubeless versions. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |
