from Takoma Park, MD Date Reviewed: December 19, 2004 | | Duration Product Used: | 2 Years | | Purchased At: | College Park Bicycles | | Strengths: | Rolls fast, grips well in most conditions, large air volume, durable sidewalls | | Weaknesses: | Wear quickly, especially the side knobs; not the easiest to mount, especially when they get old. | | Similar Products Used: | Specialized and Hutchinson UST, plus numerous tubeful tires | | Bike Setup: | Trek Fuel 100 or Phil Wood KISS-Off single speed, Bontrager UST rims (Race Lite Disc on the Fuel, Mustangs on the Phil Wood) | | Bottom Line: | I have had great experience with these in pretty much all conditions. They grip well, corner well, roll fast, and the sidewalls don't get cut up in rocky terrain. They are true 2.1s, so they are great in rocky terrain. I've even used them in some really muddy races; they are nto designed for this, but run the pressure real low and they work pretty much as well and anything else.
The soft rubber does wear quickly, but that is why the tires grip, especially in damp/wet conditions (not mud, but like, a rocky climb after acreek crossing, etc). As the tires age, the beads get kind of stretched a bit, making them difficult to mount. At least the treads wear before the sidewalls blow.
I really like these tires, I give them straight 4's, because no tire is perfect. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

$45.00 | | Purchased At: | Specialized.com | | Strengths: | Light weight for a tubless tire. Good traction on hard pack to semi-lose terrain. (Only use it as a rear tire.) Good service from Specialized. I ordered two tires. One leaked way too much air. I was able to return it, no problems. Good rolling resistance. | | Weaknesses: | Wears kind of quickly. Don't know how it works up front. I suspect it would be a bit sketchy in lose terrain. | | Similar Products Used: | I've tried most tubless tires. | | Bike Setup: | Ibis Silk Ti, Rock Shox Sid SL, Paul's Moto Light brakes and Love levers, Race Face Next Cranks, Race Face BB, Thompson Elite post, Egg Beater pedals, Ritchey WCS stem, Easton carbon bar, Mavic Cross Max tubeless wheel set, Flight saddle, King head set... the works. | | Bottom Line: | I like it as a rear tire for racing. Good traction and light weight. I haven't used one up front, but I'd be a bit skeptical on it's ability to handle lose turns. Good rolling resistance. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

from SFA Date Reviewed: March 10, 2002 | | Duration Product Used: | Less than 1 month | | Purchased At: | stock with FSR S-works 01 | | Strengths: | keep the pressure! Rolling correct | | Weaknesses: | cornering, too thin to be a good UST tire. Difficult to remove! I can't imagine have a flat with this tire. | | Similar Products Used: | Python UST, Michelin Comp S UST | | Bike Setup: | Specialized SFR S-works 2001 | | Bottom Line: | I switched them by a pair of michelin comp S UST. Right now I have good tires on my bike. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

from Caracas, Venezuela Date Reviewed: March 10, 2002 | | Duration Product Used: | Less than 1 month | | Strengths: | At the first time when u see them, tehy seen to be weak | | Weaknesses: | only for dry terrains | | Similar Products Used: | panaracer smoke, kenda, schawalow black sark | | Bottom Line: | they are very good tires, for people who likes to go faster and with a minimal of resistant on the terrain. They corner very well and it´s hard to pinch them. Very good tires, except for the detail that they perform not to good on wet than on dry floor. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |
