    Date Reviewed: April 22, 2007
    Duration Product Used:1 Year
    Purchased At:direct
    Strengths:Custom build...its exactly how I want it.
    Weaknesses:Nil
Bike Setup:26" Singlespeed, 5" Fox forx, m4's, True Precision Hubs etc
Bottom Line:Going custom has been one of the best biking choices I have made. It fits likes a glove and rides exactly how I want it. Solitudes service is fatastic, lots of input and feedback.

Phil Wood SL EBB, Paragon rear dropouts, 853 tubes adjusted for 5" and an Argos bright orange paint job, just fantastic....what else do I need?

Strengths:Full custom flexibility. Beautiful fillet brazing.
Weaknesses:Fillet brazing is slightly heavier than TIG, something to be aware of of you are a real gram counter.
    Similar Products Used:Vicious Cycles Motivator.
Bike Setup:Solitude rigid fork, Middleburn cranks, WI ENO hub and freewheel, One One Mary handlebars Avid brakes(BB7 disc front V rear)
Bottom Line:This is a review of my first Solitude, a Colombus Thron tubed 29er single speed. I have since brought two more (Kind of tells you what I think of them right there). I was riding my Vicious geared 29er but I wanted a singlespeed. Solitude had just started up and I thought I would put some business into a British company. Alex, the designer was a pleasure to deal with took on board the modifications that I wanted over my Vicious and soon sent me a design to OK. A couple of months later my frame and forks turned up. The fillet brazing was smooth and beautifully executed, the powdercoat was nice and thick and the headtube badge looked really cool. (frames now come with a cool stainless steel anti rub strip on the headtube to protect the powdercoat). The bike build was very smooth as the BB and headtube were faced and the seat tube, head tube and BB were waxoiled to prevent rust (these are the only open ended tubes, as the frame is fillet brazed the holes to allow gas expansion are sealed after construction).
So how did it ride? Very, very well. Alex had the geometry completely right and I felt at home on the bike instantly. I won't go into the specifics of how it rides because as a full custom builder, Alex will tailor your frame to your needs.
As I wrote earlier, I have now added two more Solitudes to my stable and I can see others in my future.
