Submitted by Hester a Cross Country Rider from Melbourne
Date Reviewed: February 29, 2004
Favorite Trail:Lysterfield
Duration Product Used:1 Year
Price Paid: $1500.00
Purchased At:Oakleigh Victoria
Strengths:XT rear derailleur, LX front
Weaknesses:Heavy frame, not very versatile, problems with the hayes brakes
Bike Setup:Standard at the moment
Bottom Line:The frame is heavy and not very evenly weighted. The brakes work great when they work, but when they go wrong, which is often, they take forever to fix. The bike comes standard with quality components though on the whole, so I am now looking for a new frame to put the raceline components on.

Date Reviewed: June 19, 2003
Favorite Trail:Mt Cowley fire trail and singletrack (otways)
Duration Product Used:Less than 1 month
Price Paid: $1800.00
Purchased At:Melbourne Bicycle Shop - High Street Prahran
Strengths:Wicked specs for the buck. Spent ages looking at all models - nothing stacked up.
Weaknesses:Slightly heavier (marginally) than my old giant - but that frame cracked so feel safer with this solid baby.
Similar Products Used:giants xtc 2, avanti aggressor, trek 4700,
Bike Setup:xt rear, lx front, mavic 223, hayes hydraulic discs, truvatic isis crank set, michelin tyres, easton head stem and bars, selle italia seat,
Bottom Line:awesome bike - so much happier on this than my old giant - totally impressed. Just because raceline doesn't have a flashy name doesn't mean it can't spec out the bike and produce an unbelievable bike for the buck. Mind you, pretty happy with the bike shop deal as well.

Submitted by dave a Cross Country Rider from Sale, Victoria, Australia
Date Reviewed: August 6, 2002
Favorite Trail:any
Duration Product Used:3 months
Price Paid: $750.00
Purchased At:Flemington Cycles
Strengths:I own the Raceline comp but there is no reveiw on the site so I will post it hear as the frames are the same. The frame is fantastic.
Weaknesses:RST GILA AET. These are heavy and need lots of attention to make them fuction to their best.
Similar Products Used:None in the same ballpark.
Bike Setup:I have kept it pretty stock, but I have a race set of wheels, hugi disc hubs and mavic f519's. And a polar heart rate monitor, sigma sport 1400 computer. lake mx200. I can not say enough good things about any of this gear.
Bottom Line:This bike Rocks. You could put xtr on it and it would not be over capitalised.

Submitted by Martin a Cross Country Rider from Adelaide, SA, Australia
Date Reviewed: April 25, 2002
Duration Product Used:Less than 1 month
Price Paid: $1000.00
Purchased At:Bicycle Express
Strengths:Specifications, Price, Solid frame, Good wheels, Hydro discs.
Weaknesses:Truvative Crankset.
Bike Setup:Raceline Expert with Cateye Tomo 'puter and some nice norco titanium barends.
Bottom Line:OK This bike is excellent. Deore Hydraulic discs, Deore LX - XT throughout with a truvativ firex crankset. Mavic 223 rims and WTB spokes. Judy SL forks. And at an all up weight of 27 lb. The only issue I have with it is the Firex cranks which are suited to a bike of this price but have steel chainwheels. This is the only mod I feel the need to make. Everything feels great. The frame is solid as hell with a nice integrated headset. The brakes work as only a decent set of hydros can. With very little expenditure (crankset) this bike could easily be turned into a dedicated XC Racing bike. I must give it 5 chillis in both fields because after a month of looking for the perfect bike for me I have found it. It even came in just the right size for me. 17 inch for my 5'7" height.

Submitted by Ben Hudson a Cross Country Rider from Melbourne
Date Reviewed: April 5, 2002
Duration Product Used:3 months
Strengths:Fantastic parts mix for the price, Deore Hydros, Judy SL, XT, Truvativ, Mavic and Easton. Solid well built 7005 frame.
Weaknesses:None that I have found.
Similar Products Used:Giant ATX 870
Bottom Line:I was a little sceptical at first I thought there must have been some short cuts taken to include the parts they have at this price. I was a little concerned about the frame. However it is a quality item with good quality fillet welds and reinforcement. The frame comes with a lifetime warranty so that set my mind at ease. I weigh 115kg and the frame does feel very solid to date. Best value on the market by a long way.
