Description:

Submitted by Clinton a Weekend Warrior from here to there
Date Reviewed: August 3, 2004
Duration Product Used:Tested or demo'ed only
Strengths:Suspension fork, disc brakes, frame, drive train
Weaknesses:Handle bars, shifters, gearing
Bike Setup:stiff front end, Michelin semi-slick tyres.
Bottom Line:Well, this bike was the first high range bike I've ridden so far, consider I've been riding my Trek 800 Trail for nearly 3 years...

I borrowed it and took it out for a test ride, it was fitter with Michelin semi-slicks, really quiet, the grip level was high, even at full lean in mid corner and makes the bike really easy to control.

But what impressed me was the front suspension and disc brakes. I approach this sharp 90-degree turn at 35 km/h, I braked hard and expect the rear tyre to lock and turn in side ways. But, the suspension absorbed the energy and the disk brakes were so smooth~ that experience was incredible.

The frame is very light, I can pull wheelies easily but the disc brakes would not let me make stoppies. The handlebars are way too long, maybe it's the size of the frame. Shifters were not quite user friendly. Although the drive train was very quiet, the gearing lacked top speed.

But at the end of the day, this bike is fun, or let's say, these bikes are fun.
