$400.00 | | Purchased At: | a guy from the plant | | Strengths: | Steel! great handling, good tranny (xtr, lx), good all round components (fork, pedals, etc), awesome value. Disk ready frame and hubs. | | Weaknesses: | brakes! The stock promax are real crap, switched to Deore V's Huge difference. The Marzocchi Z4 fork is smooth, but is OEM, which means its not ajustable, I'm stuck with 80mm travel, would have liked 100 mm. Steerer tube is steel, rusting. Weinman rims are a little weak. some people would say steel frame is a weakness, but we old-schooler beg to differ! | | Similar Products Used: | Kona Kiluaeu | | Bike Setup: | see above | | Bottom Line: | Great value, except the brakes. Oryx is a Quebec make which means low price since they are little known. The new ones are almost all aluminum, but this one is a truetemper triple butted steel frame, super solid and pretty light. total weight is around 26 lbs. Great intermiate level bike. pick one up before they boost the prices! 5 chillis for value, 4 for overall due to the brakes and the fork. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |
