Description:Wheeler 2900zx

Submitted by Peter Scholl a Weekend Warrior from Sunshine Coast Australia
Date Reviewed: April 5, 2001
Favoriate Trail:Any without much peddling
Duration Product Used:2 Years
Price Paid: $500.00
Purchased At:Sunnshine Coast Australia
Strengths:Good group set, breaks and wheels for the price. Bike looks real good. Good value bike for the money.
Weaknesses:The Zoke fork sucked, the breaks were hell noisy and the peddels sucked
Similar Products Used:Specilized P3, Avanti Barracuda, DMR Sidekick
Bike Setup:4.5 inch RST Mozo Pro fork, Tioga 2.1 DH tires, tioga BMX peddels, Deore Breaks, short stem and riser bars
Bottom Line:Get rid of those Zoke forks they will get you hurt!!!
Get rid of the peddles, you will slip of them!!!
Change the stem and bars to something more sutible for thrashing and go for a ride!!! The bike is a good bike to start with and with a few upgrades can be a great bike. The seat stays flex a lot under heavy rear breaking and the back end is chattery over rough stuff. Great for cruising the streets in stock form and can be made into a good all purpose thrasher.

Submitted by Jeremy a Cross-Country Rider from Toronto
Date Reviewed: December 9, 1999
Favoriate Trail:
Don Valley
Duration Product Used:
6 months
Strengths:
Aluminum frame, nice colour, low price
Weaknesses:
Nothing glaring
Bike Setup:
Alivio drivetrain, Zokes 60mm(?),Tektro brakes, Wellgo pedals
Bottom Line:This is my first real bike, but it's more than I expected. The Zokes perform well in warm weather (though I've never ridden on any other kind of fork) but get sticky in the cold. The Tektro brakes are happening, and the shifters/derailleurs are OK, but don't try downshifting while going up anything steep. The bike climbs pretty well, downhills a bit scary, but for the price this is a great entry level bike (I got it for C$850). Some new wheels and a new fork will probably come soon...

Submitted by Airborne a Racer from Singapore (etc)
Date Reviewed: December 5, 1999
Favoriate Trail:
Bukit Timah, and Tampines Bmx Track
Duration Product Used:
3 months
Strengths:
Frame and everything i siad before, Except the Fork.........
Weaknesses:
The fork.It blew up in my face after a BAD jump, now i have 2 half round scars on my face...!!!!! And the semi slicks where crap 4 the type of riding i do here(rocky stuff), so i changed em.
Similar Products Used:
Everything below + a 97 Marin Palisides Trial
Bike Setup:
upgraded the bike to=Kore lite 3 stem, Marzocchi z3 light Fork,
Panaracer fire xc pro 2.1 tires, SDG BelAir saddle, Fuji foam grips and everything i said below.....
Bottom Line:I love this bike!!!!With a few upgrades, i turned this bike into my race bike (jus need to upgrade the drivetrain a bit...). Now i see why every1 hates Zokes, well guess what, ive joined the club...!I am much more happier with my Marzocchi- so damn plush!!!! With a few upgrades this bike can be made into 1 kickass racer....!!!!!(i give it 5 cause it was the forksw fault, not the bikes.

Date Reviewed: October 26, 1999
Favoriate Trail:
Bukit Timah (where else....?)
Duration Product Used:
less than 1 month
Strengths:
Great, Solid, Super gusseted frame, Nice colour, Fork, And just bout everything on the bike.
Weaknesses:
None.

7005 Aluminium Frame
Zokes LT 75mm Fork
Alivio Drivetrain
Tektro RBP 824 V Brakes
Tektro 381 Levers
Acor(kalloy) Stem, Seatpost, Seat Clamp.
Bottom Line:I love this bike!!!!!!Its the best Entry-Mid Level bike u can get on the market.I have tried quite a lot of other Entry Level bikes and liked some of them but not 1 of them accelerates or climbs like this baby. Its as strong as Hell( Gusseted Everywhere!!!!) and is quite light (26.5 pounds!!!).This bike is a true MTB!The Zokes fork is good for the price (way better than any Indy,Jett or RST crap!), and so are the components. If u r lookin 4 a very good and reliable Mid-Level Mtb, i would reccomend this to u.Ill post another review of the bike Next month, Seeyall......
