As you will notice these frames have fairly long top tubes and head tubes, to help coax you into a smaller size. If you're going to do a lot of pedaling and climbing to get where you want to go, get a bigger one. If you're dirt jump hucking and freeriding, get a smaller one.

Hardtail is the only way to go in winter mud & crud. I had it set set up really sweet with Sun Rhyno Lites, Sherman Firefly (90/130mm), Easton vice headset, 31.8 Easton riser bars, some Specialized Roller RS pro tires. It was awesome (a little heavy chasing my buddy up hills, he's in better shape than me and his bike probably weighs 27lbs). It corners so awesomely with fork at 90mm setting. I dumped money into my Kona Dawg this spring (RP3, Talas Fork, Crossmax wheels, BETD linkage) which made that bike feel too "cross country" blasting down hills. I had to take the the firefly fork, Sun wheels, and Easton bars and headset off the Banshee to "fix" the Kona (It is actually now really sweet, a little heavy sprinting uphill)
That's how the Banshee ended up with it's current pitiful components (it's a pretty nice cross country hardtail right now). I don't ever plan have a bike without a 20mm front axle again (too much flex), unless it is a cross country race bike.
Crossmax wheels (really nice, too cross country) are on my girlfriend's bike (she loves them, I outweigh her by about 60 lbs and ride a lot harder). Talas fork is headed for her bike, too.
I want to get a Marzocchi 66 for my Big Hit (or a lighter 170mm fork if one comes out any time soon). If I do, I will probably put my Junior T on the Banshee. This will be the beginnng of setting it up as a freeride/downhill hardtail. I am sure it will do just as well with this set up as it has with the others.
Bottom line: This is an awesome hardtail. It will do anything you set it up for. There was something really awesome about blasting it around turns with a 90mm fork and 20mm front axle. If you want to do downhill on a hardtail you better have some strong legs.

The "Morphing" geometry is awsome, it allows you to set it up to you riding style. The ability to put a dual clamp fork on it is awsome, I have a JRT on mine and it rocks. It handles great. I've dropped it about 5 ft. max to flat concrete and never thought about the frame (the wheels, yes). It is not only gussetted, but there are triangles welded into place where needed. I use it with a 5 inch fork and 26 inch wheels (I bought this while waiting for my dual susp. frame to come in, and I used it for everything from trails to trials to urban to commuting). The geometry will nicely handle anything from a 5 inch to 8 inch fork. I would not go shorter than 5 inches up front. I'm thinking a Super-T for the front once I get my trail bike built. While I've not ridden any hardtails before, I'm really pleased with this one. Manuals nicely, and getting the front wheel up & on to things is great, once you can do that just lunge & power and the rear wheel will push you on up. The horizontal dropouts are great to transform (morph?) the frame from trials to dh. Good standover. I'm running a Nokian Gazz. Jr. in back, and I think it will take a 26x3.0 if I move the wheel back a bit in the dropouts. Finally, I called Banshee with a set-up question and the owner, Pip, picked up the phone and was glad to talk for quite a while. I like that. | | Weaknesses: | It is a bit harsh, particularly coming from a 6 inch dual susp. frame, but that's what a hardtail does. The Nokians help, but on big trail bumps and drops there's no mistake - this is a hard hardtail. It is not an xc speed demon, but a light frame wouldn't last 5 minutes under the abuse I've dished out to this frame. While the geometry is very comfortable, when jumping the front end seems to want to drop much more than my San Andreas. A longer fork might help with geometry, but additional weight will drop the front more. Overall, once I've gotten more used to it I'm sure I can learn to move my weight back. And don't hesitate because of the weight because the frame habdles fast and is built to last a life time so it is actually a very light frame.
Maybe the only semi-bad thing is banshee website that does't give all the information and there is not enough information arround on banshee. I was looking for information and it was a bit hard to find, a phone call to the company and the owner is on the other side so maybe they are much better than a website full of information but with noone to talk to.

The kegger head tube is massive and can take up to an 8" fork, which i am running, shivers. The geometry is perfect with a 24" in the rear for going down the steeps, and combined with the short wheel base it really rips and fly through the corners. Going from a Full squish to a hard tail, i thought i wouldn't like the ride, but running a larger tire (2.7") and running it at a low tire pressure it feels like its on a cushion of air. This thing is more versatile than a compton crack hoe: 26" or 24" wheels or both, 1 speed or several(horizontal drops w/ bolt on derailleur hanger), ISCG tensioner or BMX stlye axle tensioners, 4" fork or 8" double crown.

I'm just starting to really dial into this thing, so every ride I feel more connected to it. It's a great bunnyhopper (I'm currently pushing 2') manuals smooth, drops like an Army smart bomb, and it's LIGHT! (with the bare bones buildup)

This is the most versitile and strongest frame I have ridden, if you want a frame that won't break and can do everthing this is it.
