Take out the stock shock and throw in a 5th element (i used a 9.5"i2i with 3" stroke, bigger than the stock 9"i2i, 2.7 stroke) and you have a rocket ship!!! Lets you set a little more sag so its great for the little stuff and ramps up really well for the big fun stuff!!!!

$1250.00 | | Purchased At: | Used | | Strengths: | Strong, Pretty low and fast, Just the right amount of travel | | Weaknesses: | Not as for different kinds of riding besides downhill. However, this is a downhill race bike, so it shouldn't matter. | | Similar Products Used: | First downhill bike | | Bike Setup: | Giant Dh Comp, Shiver, Rock Shox Pro Delux, Mavic 321's, Hope 4 pots, Maxxis rubber | | Bottom Line: | This bike is a great downhill rig that has spot on geometry for downhilling, strong enough to take freeriding, and enough travel for almost any rider. I have used this bike for everything from a cross country loop to downhill races. It's by no means a do it all bike, but if you are a downhiller who wants a good downhill bike, this can be used for other things. It is most at home on fast downhill courses with rocks, where the suspension really comes into its own. It also pedals surprisingly well. The geometry is my idea of a perfect downhill bike. It is a great value and perfect for any downhiller looking for a bike that works well in "socal courses" - pedally, sandy, and rocky. This being said, I personally am looking for a bike that is more catered to a freerider, who will occasionally go to a ski resort.
Bottom line - This bike does what its meant to and more. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

$2200.00 | | Purchased At: | Pedal Power in Auburn | | Strengths: | Excellent components for the price. Takes abuse well. Everything that I don't mention in the weaknesses. I like the wheelset and fork. The super T isn't a big heavy dh fork but the light weight and size, as well as the strong light wheel set is perfect for the technical, muddy, DH single track I ride. | | Weaknesses: | The linkage comes loose but locktite solves the problem so I am not complaining. The linkage under the BB scrapes on stuff like logs or concrete if you try to trials ride over someting. The bash rings hit the obstacle as well but the linkage is getting hit hard too. The front tire doesn't have enough clearance for that fork. My bike came out of the box with the rear rock shox shok leaking all of its oil!! giant just gave me the number to rock shox. I had to call rock shox three times and talk to three people before getting a new one under warranty!!! Rear der. hangers cost $23!!!! they should be free! My race face BB shreded the small drive side bearings. Again, giant gave me race faces number and race face failed to send me my replacement in time for a DH race!! That sucks
| | Similar Products Used: | Santa cruz bullit, kona stab primo, gt lobo, karpiel armagedon | | Bike Setup: | Maxxis 2.35 mofo---- my favorite tire ( 50 Du. casing ) I trimmed my bars, too wide for DH single track stock
| | Bottom Line: | The wheel set is light but tough, if you are breaking these wheels than you are going too big for most DH rigs and need an overbuilt hucker, or you have no finesse and should practice your style. Switch tires, no clearance. Awesome parts speck. The fork and wheels give you a nimble bike. The suspension works and is good. They need to fix the linkage bash problem. I had enough warranty problems to leave a bad taste in my mouth. But for the money I paid, and the amount I ride this thing(every day) This is a real value. Myles rockwell goes really fast on this frame so you know it is suitible for DH racing. The bike gives more than I do on urban rides. It can also handle more than I can. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

It pedals amazingly well and is easy to tune in. The rear must be reloctited when you purchase it. BIG DEAL. A three year old blind chimp could do that. It is burly and will last for years if taken care of properly and ridden with some FLOW!!!Swapping forks to monsters or next year's 32mm super t's would be an idea but otherwise this is the best bike for any money out there today. The chain guide sucks big time,(the bolts catch on rocks & logs)it's held on by the bottom bracket & a frame tab(that will brake off). I cracked the top of the shock mount where it is welded to the frame. I bought a large & it came with a 600 spring(way to stiff). IT could use a floating rear brake. | | Similar Products Used: | GT DHI,craftworks,M1 | | Bike Setup: | monster t, 321 rims, truvative cranks, xtr parts | | Bottom Line: | It took 9 months to brake the dhi & only 3 months brake this beefy frame. I sent the frame back to Giant and got a new one which has seemed to have not come loose. Lock Tide WILL NOT FIX THE PROBLEM. Superglue might. Chainguide is hard to adjust, wheelset is crap, i dont care what pros ride singletracks, they are crap. Heavy for an 8.25 inch travel bike. | | Similar Products Used: | Foes The Fly, Kona stab primo, Yeti DH-6, Santa Cruz bullit. (Buy one of thoes, they are worth your time.) | | Bottom Line: | Don't waste your time. The bike retails for $3000 and it shows. Poorly thought through. Truly quality DH bikes are in upwards of $5000 if you want 8+ inches in back. Don't buy, however, if you are on a budget and dont mind wrenching every night on stupid stuff, go for it. My son is very hard on bikes and components, yet this machine has held up perfectly, except for the linkiage loosening up at first. We got a torque wrench and some RED locktite and cured the problem. Suspension is super smooth and the component spec compliments the bike perfectly. | | Weaknesses: | None really - those into serious racing may want to beef up the fork - there is a great market for super T's to sell out there! | | Similar Products Used: | atx TEAM, atx two, ac1, intenses, yetis, DHIs, schwinns, rockys, name it!!! | | Bike Setup: | have ridden it both stock and now with white bros DH2's and azonic bar, stem, seat, pedals | | Bottom Line: | It is all about getting the most for YOUR money, you cant beat the DH comp for this - you get a race ready or freeride capable bike for a great deal. The frame is fantastic and must be ridden to be appreciated. The previous atx bike had been around so long and was so successful that you know Giant would come up with something big to replace it - and they did. Giant worked again with the Renault engineers who created the standout NRS XC bikes and the fruits of this relationship show once again. The bike just rides great, its super fun, and very easy to ride - you never feel as if your lumbering around on some akward beast of a bike.
