from New Jersey Date Reviewed: November 30, 2001 | | Favoriate Trail: | Fair Hill, Md. | | Duration Product Used: | Less than 1 month | | Price Paid: |
$1800.00 | | Purchased At: | Action Wheels-Deptford, NJ | | Strengths: | VERY LIGHT...great components for the $$. Colors are nice, as is the fit of the GS (women's) model. Carbon seat stays! Did I mention GREAT components? | | Weaknesses: | No riser bar, (but hey, it's a race bike). Cheesy headset. Race tires, don't look great for the average "real world" trail rider. Nice tires, though. No discs. Could have at least had Avid Mechanicals... | | Similar Products Used: | Cannondale and Trek hardtails, big wheel, tri-cycle. | | Bike Setup: | All stock except I changed the headset to a Cane Creek S-5, and added a Titec Hell-Bent riser bar. | | Bottom Line: | HEY, LADIES (and GENTS): I bought this bike for my fiance', who has had several mountain bikes. Most are too big, too long a top tube, or (and) TOO LONG OF A WHEEL BASE!. THAT is something most companies overlook, even on the women's specific bikes. I work at a shop and had nothing in that shop to make her happy. Custom built a cannondale hardtail, but it was too long.Had to go with another product. Even a small Jekyll still has a 42" wheelbase. The WSD Trek Fuel; a 42"... The small Fisher Sugar 2 GS ("genesisters")is right on the $$. Only a 40.5" wheelbase (that's a BIG difference) and she LOVES it! Finally, a bike to fit her. She is 5'1" with a 29" inseam. Even if you don't opt for the higher "2" model, if you're a short biker chic looking for a sweet ride (sugar) then at least test ride this bike. And this is coming from a die-hard Cannondale man!----Rob | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |
