$550.00 | | Purchased At: | Onya Bike Warehouse | | Strengths: | Swallows bumps, good cranks and accesories. When I switched the forks it took just about everything. | | Weaknesses: | Forks. I traded them after a while, but they still had enough time for me to despise them. Evil little sticks of metal they are | | Similar Products Used: | None | | Bike Setup: | Switched crappy suntours for RST 381 xe's (this voided the warranty so when the frame broke i was screwed). | | Bottom Line: | This bike was good when i started (I was about 12). But now i'm older and doing hatrder stuff so this bike isn't quite as good as it used to be. The frame packed it in after almost 3 years of faithful service. Good for a bit of technical, jumping, etc but not as strong as i would of liked | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

All the compnents are good and it handles great on everything I've put it through so far. If you are goin for SERIOUS riding, like competing in comps. or racing, i would sugest a little higher model like the NRS,AC air or maybe the VT, but thes are more expensive. But, it all depends what you want. For some one like me who goes out maybe 2-3 times a week, this bike is awsome for the job. But that was to be expected after all the stuff this bike has been through, and it only cost me AUD $2 to replace! The bike actually seems to correct for mistakes. | | Weaknesses: | The components are ALL dog $hit. Specifically that de-railers, fork, spokes, and brakes were crap. I got a great price so I picked it up but I have been upgrading parts since I got it. It is also on the heavy side, which can make tight turns tricky. | | Similar Products Used: | FIrst DH bike | | Bottom Line: | Over all just a fun bike! Also upgrade the handlebar and grips latta because i was stupid to put bar ends on a riser. | | Bottom Line: | Greatest bike I have ever owned. Started to upgrade the components like the fork to a Z.1 Wedge and better rims to put discs on it. I don't want to part with my bike, thats why i upgraded the thing. It is even better with the new components! I feel even better with the new components. I'm gonna start to DH and freeride more with this. Probably make more upgrades when things start to break. Avid Mechanical Disc Brakes, Fox Vanilla R coil rear suspension, bar ends | | Bottom Line: | With the riding I do, I abuse my bike, and currently, I have broke my derailleur hanger twice, and I had to carry my bike back out of the woods. The real problem is the rims because they don't fit the 2.4 tires, which slip off easily. This is really my first bike that I own. It has been great with the riding I have done - North Shore, DHing, and basically Freeriding. But now, a few months later, I still like it but Something bad has happened. My rear triangle cracked clean open not long ago. It was replaced (the part) for free, but labor isn't covered. When this happened the bike dropped enough to bend my front derailer (which was independently connected) into my crank. The derailer was toast. So I rode quite a bit more cautiously--namely, I stopped wheelie dropping whenever possible and rode rather carefully-- Hey I should be happy, at least it was under warranty. But now I take my bike into the shop on Jan 24,2002 and there is a fracture in the middle tube in the front part of the frame where it connects to the downtube. So it will cost me again for just the labor. The upside is that Giant sent a whole frame (rear triangle and front frame) to my bikeshop because of last time, so at least they have the frame on hand. So, this bike is costing me more than anticipated. However, the crack may have been there earlier, when the triangle was replaced. Anyway, this doesn't happen to the average rider from what I hear at my bikeshop. But at least giant was good about it. Hey, now I will have a whole completelyh new bike from when I started. I still love my bike and hope to be riding it by next week. I still reccomend this bike to anyone. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

I am 6'2" and the 20.5 frame is perfect for me. I even had to hack down the seatpost. This bike is very big and beasty. The tires give grip that outdoes much more expensive tires, but it does slow yourl on concrete a little. If you have a little money to spare I say you should get bar ends, and a brake arch. Marzochi Z5 130 Coil. The bike is stout in this condition. Super Tite and race ready. | | Bottom Line: | You're basically spending your 500 to get the frame. Everyting aside from that is probably going to have to go. I'm a fairly large rider (225lbs) and the 20.5" is getting beat up so I had to start switching out components. The rims will bend quickly with aggressive drops, jumps and bad landings so get some Atomics, 519s', 521s or something else. The stock stem is o.k. but the Azonic gives me more confidence. No issues with the headset yet. I replaced the crankset because I scrapped the 2 smaller rings to go with the chain guide and the standard SRAM setup is not too easily replaceable. You can also, get a different rear shock set up directly from Giant which will change the stroke and give you another 1/2 travel in the back. So, I'm running 5 and 5 on mine. The brakes are weak. DH slopes will leave you wishing for disc. I couldn't stop all that well, hit a tree and bought disk the next day. Weekend warriors should be o.k. for awhile with the stock setup but if you ride 4 days a week, you'll be replacing parts a couple times a month. The key is the frame. Its fairly light and with the right components can be lighter. The condition its in right now its definetly ready to take on some tazers, fsrs and garys.
Still a great buy for the price with plenty of upgradability. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

The other warp bikes are as nice and only add the after market components you can add later. its a great all around bike. i ride mine everyday to work 20 mins through city then after work i ride trails home. I'm planning to take this bike back to Alberta and doing some trails around Cadoman. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

$575.00 | | Purchased At: | Bicycle Source | | Strengths: | All around good rear shock for the price, and gears shift smooth without choking up. Nice firm ride that is decent for road or trail riding | | Weaknesses: | Front shock seams to be pretty soft. Not the best you can get but serves its purpose for the money. | | Bike Setup: | Basic stuff nothing modified "YET"!!! | | Bottom Line: | Overall its a great bike for the money and a perfect started bike for those just getting into the sport! I think if I was to shop around a bit more I may have found it a little cheaper! | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

$530.00 | | Purchased At: | a local bike shop | | Strengths: | It's a great value, the rear shock is excellent, great tyres, wide range of gears, good components for the price, it looks very nice, it's a nice solid ride. | | Weaknesses: | The fork sounds as if it's trying to self-destruct when you top it out on a jump or large bump(it rebounds too fast). The water bottle cage is right behind the front wheel, so you get mud all over your bottle. | | Similar Products Used: | Cheaper bikes do not even come close. | | Bike Setup: | Black Wrap DS 3 with a K2 Smart Fork, Shimano 545 Pedals, Hayes Mechanical Disk brakes in front, Shimano LX V-brake in the rear, Black Double Walled front and rear wheels. | | Bottom Line: | If you're looking to by a bike in this price range look no further, I looked for months before making a decision. I would recomend this bike to anyone. It is good for crosscountry riders & aggressive crosscountry riding, or you could get a long travel fork (single crown only) for free riding. The other Warp bikes seem like good buys too, get the Warp DS1 if you have the cash and don't mind grip shifters. Change the fork as soon as you can, and you'll have a sweet ride. I agree completely with the guys below. Truly the best possible buy for the price. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |
