Strengths:Great climber being a fairly light bike. Very strong frame can do a 3 foot drop off pritty easily.
Weaknesses:Not enough travel on the fork and dident really like the stock rear shock so i put on a Rock Shox Delux
Bike Setup:Magura HS-33 rim brakes, raceface cranks, kenda tires, bontrager wheels, bar ends, rockshox delux with dampining.
Bottom Line:Great bike for a cross country rider but dont get to crazy on the downhills with only 3 inches of travel.

Favoriate Trail:Mountain Goat
Duration Product Used:2 Years
Price Paid: $1200.00
Purchased At:American Ski Company
Strengths:Cheap Price, so ugly no one will steal it. Good rims.
Weaknesses:Geometry, SID shock, Rider Position, Short stem, Dated design
Similar Products Used:Stump Jumper, Intense Tracer
Bike Setup:Stock except for tires, handlebars and grips
Bottom Line:This bike is horrible when it comes to climbing. In Colorado, you can't find any trails without huge vertical. It is like riding a pogostick when you are climbing in the little chain ring and makes so much shock noise on downhills it isn't even funny. The rider position is too crunched, which further ruins the climbing. Riser bars and a longer stem help somewhat, but not enough. The SID shock has fallen apart and no longer locks-out. Very disappointed with the feel and performance of this bike. If anyone wants it, I will make you a sweet deal!

Strengths:The Joshua F2 is a full suspention bike with strong construction and a nice smooth ride either on the hardest trails or the roads. Nice welding done on all the joints and in my opinion for the strength of the frame its surprisingly light.
Weaknesses:The placement of the water bottle could be a problem but I use a cammel-pack and it solves that problem.
Bottom Line:I would recomend this bike to any serious biker. It's a great all-around full suspention bike. Gary Fisher has put together a great bike that will definatly make billions of your neurons screaming in unison, We're gonna DIE!

Bottom Line:I've owned 3 Joshua frames since '96(all warrantied). The bike had a good ride, but was always a workout and a pig to lug over obstacles. Great descender. Because of POOR shop support, I changed where I buy stuff, and dumped the Josh in favor of a Trek y33(got the y33 frame in a warranty deal too!!) Good concept back in '96, but it's time to put it out to pasture. Sorry, no offense to my brother riders, but that's how I feel about this design.

Favoriate Trail:Grand Ridge, I suppose
Duration Product Used:1 Year
Price Paid: $1800.00
Purchased At:Cutting Edge Sports, Boulder,CO
Strengths:Very versatile, bullet-proof, geometry.
Weaknesses:weight (compared w/ 2000 FS bikes), SID rear shock.
Similar Products Used:this is the 1st FS bike I've owned.
Bike Setup:SID front shock, Chris King Discotech hubs, Mavic rims, Hayes hydraulic disc brakes, Selle Italia Flite trans am saddle (highly recommended), Speedplay frogs, Bontrager Jones tires.
Bottom Line:I've been pretty abusive with this bike, and it's held up to everything I've managed to dish out. I have maintained it very well though. It's very responsive and confidence- building. Going through rock gardens at any speed is a piece of cake compared to my hardtail. Most of all, the lockout for the rear suspension is brilliant. It climbs like a hardtail with no apparent biopace. Deep mud, water, sand, rocks - it conquers all with grace to spare.
The air valves on the rear shock have failed a couple of times. They're made of soft aluminum and have to hold very high pressure. Rockshox is in no hurry to send spares, or to modify the design (stainless steel?).

Favoriate Trail:Academy
Duration Product Used:6 months
Strengths:Genesis geometry design, Weight, Price! (Bought it at the end of last year and got a great deal on it)
Weaknesses:Cable routing to SID Lockout (Seized it and broken it a couple times), Would really have liked it if Gary gave us the pump for the back shock. Water bottle placement (I guess there's nowhere else to put it, so I just use it for my lights)
Similar Products Used:Trek Y33
Bike Setup:XT Cranks, pedals and shifters. Other than that, stock.
Bottom Line:Outside of the brakes, the setup is great. I've had to work on the lockout on the Back shock a couple of times. I now have a rollamijig feeding into the shock (that seems to have cured my problems). My next step is to go Discs. The Avid brakes+levers that came with it are crap.

Awesome bike. I'm starting to use it for racing, and it is withstanding my abuse just great.

Weaknesses:racing slick rear tire, no air shock pump included with bike
of this price, could do without the flames in the paint scheme
Similar Products Used:98 Warp DS1
Bike Setup:completely stock except for a Specialized team control rear
tire
Bottom Line:This is a good bike for the money. I went well over my $1000
budget to get this bike after a test ride. Best $1702 I've
probably ever spent. Rides almost like a hardtail with rear
shock locked out but with the flip of a lever theres plenty
of travel for rough trails. I dont think that I would do too many insane wheelie drops or huge jumps with this bike
though-it's just not designed for that

I got an FH2 1998 from the warranty, the weld on the head tube cracked, the bracket of the shock(weld on the frame)cracked, and the swing arm cracked where you put the housing for the front derailleur. This year on my Joshua F2 the pivot break two times, the frame cracked near the head tube, on the shock bracket's and the swing cracked too.

For all you Joshua lovers who are tired of the think-they-know-it-all critics, point them to this web site: www.specialized.com/main.ehtml?tech/tech.ehtml. The Joshua came in second in an independant test by the University of Hamburg-Germany (?)for BEST Cross Country design. Losing out only to the Specialized design. Several big name bikes couldn't even come close. It also did very well in the down hill category against other non-URT designs, beating several big names also! Way to go Joshua !!! Please post this information on the other Joshua sites to quite those pesky nay sayers.

The YSL 200 is great, but the price is too high. The lockout is really fun, you'll love it. Get a new rear tire with more meat on it though, store this one for racing. Bike Setup:

Bottom Line:I've been satisified with the bike so far. The decals on the frame are kinda cheesy. One of them is already starting to wrinkle so I expect that in a year or so they will start falling off. Water bottle placement is problematic. It either goes on the seat post or the under side of the frame - neither are good locations. I use a camel back so it's no big deal. The bike climbs great ecspecially with the rear lockout. Even with the lockout disengaged I don't really notice any troublesome bobbing while peddling. It also handles well in tight switchbacks. I love the Genesis geometry. Overall, I'd highly recommend the bike.

Bottom Line:This bike is great for all around use. It might be a little heavy for racing but at my age and time to race who cares about a few seconds. The bike climbs well but climbs just like a hardtail when you lock out the rear. I used to own a GT LTS2 and it was in the shop nearly every second weekend. I tried the F3 but went up to the F2 because of the fork and the SID rear shock. Gary Fisher knows how to spec a bike to save the comsumer money on things we couldn't tell the difference. I weighted this bike with my scale and with the pedals it came out at 26lbs. I am 5'11 with a 32 inseam and got the medium frame. If you are shopping for a new bike consider a full suspension and think about the Joshua F series.

Bottom Line:I built the bike from bits purchased from this site over the winter, I snapped the frame on my X0 and asked Fisher for a new F2.. They obliged!!
I used Icon bars, stem and seatpost etc, the only let down over the stock bike is the rear shock, I am still using my Rockshox Coupe deluxe. It rides like a dream, so plush and quick steering compared to the X0. One very small annoyance, the genesis geometry collects leaves at the rear end due to small clearances, I am forever pulling them out whilst riding, the noise drives me nuts!!
The whole bike cost me just over $600 in bits to build, not including the frame and seatpost as they were warrantied from my old bike. It just go's to show what deals you can get from this site if you look. A great bike for anyone wanting F.S.

Bottom Line:My Cannondale was stolen so with the money from insurance I decided to try something else. Bikes USA had a 30 day money back guaranty if I didn't like it. Well I still have the back. The ride was great right from the start. On my CDale I always felt like I was going to go over the bars but with this bike I feel like my weight is back and it helps tremendously. The rear sid doesn't seem to be as plush as my old fox vanilla R but it is much lighter. For the money the components are tons better than the CDale in comparable price range.

Bottom Line:Yes, finally got the F2 the end of January. Although I was not impressed with the way Fisher handled their shipping needs, I can safely say it was worth the wait. Coming from a hard tail, the bike took a few rides to get used to. My F2 has around 200 miles of singletrack on it to date. The bike simply smoothes out the trail, climbs like a monster, and out descends my skill level. The rear lockout works like a charm and is great for those long climbs. The Judy SL up front, though not as light as the SID, works like butter and has not let me down yet. Swapped the cranks and bottom bracket for Raceface. Oh, you might want to exchange the stock tires (WTB Racing Raptors) for something with more meat. The WTB's could not hold a corner and lost traction on the uphills. I went with IRC's Mythos XC and notice better performance from the F2. I wish you the best of luck in obtaining your F2. I think you with be well rewarded for the wait.

Bottom Line:This is a follow up to my previous review. I have had the bike for over a month and the more I ride this bike the more I love it. It is much more balanced than my previous bike (A Diamondback DBR V-Link 3.2). The back tires take getting used to, but a slightly better than average rider should be able to handle it in no time. The bike is set up great for XC. I did melt a hole in my front tire from the cars muffler (Bikes USA did replace it for free) but other than that have had no problems at all.

Bottom Line:

I ride a lot of dirt as well as road and I find that the Joshua F2 handles quite well despite some of the componentry (which I will be changing) but other than that and the placement of the water bottle, I find that it is an overall good bike -- it rides well and climbs good. The dampning of the rear shock is a really nice feature; it eliminates bobbing on the climb without eliminating the freedom to change the setting of the shock when gliding down a narley drop off. Weight is easily adjustable with better components -- I'm hoping for about 23-25 lbs or lighter.

Bottom Line:

Bought this bike and my friend bought the F3. The bike is great the way it comes, but I decided to upgrade the shifters and front derailleur to XTR. I am perfectly happy with the LX cranks so far but will switch them to RaceFace for even better performance. I bought it at Bikes USA and got a great deal and a CAP plan than replaces anything on the bike when it breaks no matter what I do (no questions asked). The only thing that I would recommend Fisher do better is water cage placement. It is under the down tube and it kind of sucks if you night ride with a water cage battery. A great ride no matter who you are.

I ordered an F2 in September with the promise from Fisher it would be here by mid-November. Wrong, after a bunch of bogus bs from reps and dealers I finally got through to Fishers' regional manager. The bikes have been pushed back again to the beginning of January. I still want to know if they will be shipping with the Bontrager Race cranks or cheesy LX cranks. After many demos on last years model and this years F3, I give the F2 4 chilis....but as for the wait and crap...the Fisher name deserves 1 chili.
