Then I noticed I only gets 105mm
Then I wanted to put disc.. Doable but major pain.
Then I bent the legs.. had to buy new ones (not warrantied)
Then I blew the cartridge.. Had to pay for a rebuild

It has fitted but not without much engineering work to the dropouts, the disc mount and by countersinking the bolts holding the disc. The main problem is that hope discs fit too close to the fork leg to allow space for bolt heads or big hubs. If you have access to some good workshop machinery and are prepared to do the work then you will be rewarded by fitting the best stoppers on the planet, if you wish for a buy it and fit it solution then my advice is to wait until you can afford a new pair of Marzocchi forks. I am sure that there is a disc brake somewhere that will fit DC118DH forks but it is not an international standard DH brake.

Lighter than Z1s and with more travel. Bad weather was a problem however as they were not designed to ride in the UK and the main stantion seals are not as good as those of say Pace or Marzocchi and they did let in the gloop after a long days riding. This was easily solved by a trip to my local Motocross shop where I purchased a pair of 8 inch gaiters for upside down forks for £11. Fitted them using the seal at the top and trimmed the base to the correct length, ie just touching the brace bolts. I have used these forks in the worst of weather on long day rides and the gaiters have stopped any need to oil or grease the stantion seals completely this winter. You can tell because the lower crown is about 1cm thick, not good. My biggest grip comes from this. To make sure that the stanchions were tight enough in the lower clamp (so they didn't twist) the stanchions had to be deformed. Needless to say after several months of mastering the art of re-aligning the mofos, I sold them. Never got full travel either. They say 118 right? The cart. can't possibly get more than 114 mm....? I know cos I stripped down the cart. to see if I could get more, you can, but 6mm isn't worth the trouble. So once you factor in the hard as hell bottom out bumpers and 114 cartridge (minus the 4-5mm the negative bumper steals) you end up with a 105-110 mm 4.5 pound DC fork that costs WAY TOO MUCH. The max travel I got on this fork was 107mm off a 5 foot drop, I only weigh 160, but that's hell stingy. never could get it to work great. I did
get it to work good for XC riding but don't
run it downhill. The cartrige doesn't allow
enough of an air gap for heat expansion and
the cartrige will get progressively stiffer
and stiffer from heat untill about 1/2 down
the run your on a full ridged fork. - The cartrige
is seal so you can't just fix the problem yourself.
Now you have to deal with WB - figure on your
fork being gone a month to get fix. I never did
retest mine on Downhill after getting it back -
I didn't want to risk wasting another 3 hr drive
to the slope just to pay $15 buck make a 1/2 run
and go home. I'm now the proud owner of a fork
I can trust, that weighs the exact same amount
I personaly weighed both at 5.0lbs, a "00" x-vert dc

I had the legs replaced at mt snow by the white bros. mechanics because the weekend before at plattekill I chewed them up due to high amounts of mud and no boots. After buying a fsr extreme and blowing the judy xl's out three times ( not suprising) i decided to buy some stronger and more plush dh forx..The whites were the most logical choice...less flex then the wet noodle judy xl's and a whole lot plusher..I have noticed improved speed through turns and over hard terrain at higher speeds ...more steering control and no numb fingers after long rides..have not found terrain yet that these forx don't feel good in or where i don't feel confident to ride in ....good price too...all this and the forx aren't broken in yet...specs and price were what made my mind up...
32mm tubes weighing 4.3 lbs kit comes with two sets of springs and lube and 118 mm of travel ( 4.75 inches)and very stiff and plush ( no sticking) i would and have recommended these forx to friends and to others..white brothers did a good job on this package... | | Overall Rating: |
