Indestructable frame and pivots. | | Weaknesses: | Can only use short travel setting with 24" x 3.0" tire (not really bad though). Nonreplaceable derailler hanger. Initial bike set up takes time, but not bad overall. When tightening down the thru axle, the disk rubbed on the frame - had to space out. | | Similar Products Used: | 2002 Iron Horse SGS DH wit same parts listed below... | | Bike Setup: | Red frame with Stratos S-8, dual Hayes 8" Mag DH, 26/24" wheel set-up with Hugi FR 20mm front hub/Dimension 12mm thur axle rear hub and Sun double wides, Truvative Hussefelt bar-stem-cranks-bb and chain tensioner, Evil E-13 bash guard, Gazzi 3.0" all around, Romic rear shock. | | Bottom Line: | This bike takes a lot of time to get correct. Anyone thinking they will slap parts on and ride is wrong! You need to spend time on everything to get it right - but once you do you sweet it is!! Chainline took the most set up time. The shock spring/rebound/compression also takes time. I set mine up wiht a custom built Romic. I set up that way so no extra knobs on the shock would be in the way (i.e. Fox Vanilla, 5th element). I also set up the frame with short wheel base setting due to 24" x 3.0" Gazzi. Used the top setting on lower shock mount position as well as the progressive (top) pivot setting. This bike is sick, blows away my previous ride. It has over 9 inches of rear travel and using the 24" wheel the tire never hits the seat. The bike sucks up everything I have ever pointed it at. Took a couple of runs to get it set up just right for me
but now it rules. My bike came with the Fox RC-2 shock which probably helps. Not ridden an M-1 with a normal Vanilla shock.
My bottom line is, with that many diferent adjustments on the frame and shock, if you can't set it up right eventually
you're not doing it right. Accelerates and corners much better than my Yeti DH-8.

Although this is my first DH bike I was able to try out a plethora of other bikes before and after making my purchase. Intense did something right because this thing makes me look like I know what I'm doing(I don't have a clue)... Anyway, lately I've been racing and it's a blast. Last weekend I raced with a few buddies and had the best time ever, it was so fun. My bike made the course feel featureless. I was able to fly through rough sections without any worries. The suspension is so active I always feel confident even when I'm really out of control! If you are looking for a killer DH rig that all your buddies will drool over, take a look at Intense. I'm going to buy the Uzzi SLX too!!!
Oh yeah, another thing on durability... The second day I owned this bike I was possessed to ride it off my roof to a flat landing!!!
