Description:The Hayes hydraulic disc brake utilizes a patented open hydraulic system unlike most other disc brakes that use a closed system. The open system allows the expanding brake fluid to go into a reservoir to eliminate "free running drag".

Strengths:
Beautiful feel. Its like having the brakes plugged into your brain. Just need to think about stopping and the bike begins to slow. Over the bars stopping when you clamp down, great release, and drag free running.
Weaknesses:
None yet - aparently howl when wet, but I havent seen that.
Similar Products Used:
Magura Louise, HS22 Rim brakes, all kinds of Vs.
Bike Setup:
Avanti Competitor Hardtail - XT, Hayes, etc
Bottom Line:
Feel, feel, feel. Thats what I love about 'em. Groovy in the gravel and sweet on the single trail. Super easy fitting, and did I mention feel? Wicked.
I can see why the downhillers love them.
(PS - awesome site. A bible when it comes to checking out MTB gear)
