Description:Taking a lesson from the BMX book…Halo SAS wheels are destined to be THE Ultimate jump/DH wheels. The new hub and axle kit options allow these wheels to fit virtually any bike.

SAS wheels use the Combat Evolved SAS rim with Double eyelets and Double System Joint, mated together with the high specification Halo Spin Doctor sealed bearing Disc hubs using Black ED finished spokes. (48 on rear for the ultimate strength, 36 on front for reduced weight.)

Available in White Powder Coat, Black anodised or Gold anodised ‘Disc’ style finish rims.

Strengths:BURLY setup. This is a wheelset for huckers and downhillers. Will take anything you dish out to it. Well made VERY solid wheels. Excellent company to work with. I don't worry about this wheelset when doing DH or Freeride. I think it would be EXTREMELY difficult to hurt these things.
Pretty simple to change from 20mm through axle to QR
Weaknesses:VERY HEAVY.
Wheels with DH tubes and Maxxis Minions weigh 13 lbs!!!
The front hub uses a stack of adapters, cones and a tube to space out the bearings. The adapters don't press into the hub, and are relativly loose so you need to keep your eye on them. Also, Halo does not provide a diagram on how these spacers are supposed to go together.
Similar Products Used:Transition 32mm 32 spoke wheels.
Bike Setup:Transition Dirtbag.
Marzocchi 66 RC2 ETA
Rocco TST rear
X.9 drivetrain.
Maxxis Minion DH tires and DH tubes.
Bottom Line:An excellent wheel for huckers and downhillers.
Very much a bombproof part.
I had an issue with the hub grinding up the internals because the spacers and adapters weren't installed properly. However, Halo shipped me a replacement hub without those pesky spacers and it's all good now.
My only real gripe with the wheels was the wonky spacers and lack of a diagram.
If you're looking for a wheelset that you won't have to worry about get these!
