$250.00 | | Strengths: | Light, strong, smooth. | | Weaknesses: | Hope I never break a spoke. | | Similar Products Used: | Bontrager Race Lite | | Bike Setup: | Intense 5.5, XTR, Formula | | Bottom Line: | I got these from a friend with a contact at Easton, so the price was unbeatable. I've had these for a year now, and ride them daily. I'm 180, riding a lot of technical single track. So far, they've been bullet proof. Other than maintainence and truing, no issues. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

from Asheville Date Reviewed: September 5, 2007 | | Favoriate Trail: | Pilot Rock | | Duration Product Used: | 3 months | | Purchased At: | 250 | | Strengths: | VERY light wheelset! Great climbing and cornering. Haven't used them enough to comment on the long term durability. | | Weaknesses: | Absolutely cannot and should not take any big hits at all! I knocked the rear wheel out of round on a 3 ft log ride drop and I taco'd the front wheel with a serious crash. These are RACE wheels and you should know that when buying. They should have a rider weight limit. I am 180lb and feel like I am pushing these wheels hard. | | Similar Products Used: | Deore/Mavic set, Crossmax ST's | | Bike Setup: | Jamis XCR Expert | | Bottom Line: | GREAT race wheel that needs a smooth rider if being used for every day use. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

$550.00 | | Purchased At: | Beyond Bikes | | Strengths: | Lightweight, LBS can service them. | | Weaknesses: | Very new on the market, so no long term testing. | | Similar Products Used: | DT, XTR | | Bike Setup: | Santa Cruz blur (classic), carbon fiber stuff, XT components, basic mid line light weight stuff. | | Bottom Line: | Bike parts to me are only as good as the price you pay. If you can use a product and surpasses it engineering at it's given pricepoint...you'll have a loyal buyer. So to that degree, I had my eye on these wheels for awhile waiting for a perfect buying opportunity. I've compared them to other wheelsets at my local LBS, and are compariable to Mavic SL, Bontrager Race Lite X, DT Swiss, XTR, just about any other high end production wheel. I replaced my DT swiss-717 wheels with these, and at first I approached my trails with caution, beacuse I was afraid they couldn't hold up to abuse. After about a month, I my confidence was restored. Honestly, I really didn't notice a huge difference, but I'm not one of these guys that can really feel differences that other say they can. However, my bike does seem lighter (in the standard "pick it up and hold" test) and at times rolls quicker downhill, but I really don't think your going to win any races or gain more time just by changing to these wheels. Here were my thoughts about buying these wheels: 1) Lightweight about 1569g 2) strong build, like the threaded hubs and double butted spokes engineering. 3) website has great information for LBS to service using common available parts at any shop. Very important to me if I'm stuck in a town without a high end shop. 4) price was good One thing that was suggested to me was to apply oil occasionally to the threads at the hub. My mechanic said he's seen similar hubs (Velomax is what I think he said) and the threads would lock up after some time in the elements. Time will tell for me if this is a superior product, so far though, I'm not dissapointed. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

$650.00 | | Purchased At: | LBS | | Strengths: | Super light, quick engagement, super smooth bearings, great stiffness, nice to look at, reliable | | Weaknesses: | they've been flawless thus far | | Similar Products Used: | Mavic Crossmax, DT Swiss 340XC, Shimano XT and XTR, FSA XC 300, lots of low end Mavic and Shimano garbage | | Bike Setup: | Giant Anthem decked to the tits | | Bottom Line: | I've had crappy wheelsets and good wheelsets, and yes, there is a huge difference. Sure, for $650 one could purchase about 3 XT wheelsets and pray to god that at least of them works, but at the end of the day you're still rolling on less-precise bearings and noodle-like stiffness. This is the best set I've owned in my 15 years of cycling experience. Wicked light, super smooth and so far, I've had no problems like those discussed in reviews below. They aren't cheap, but if you can get a good deal on 'em they are worth every penny. If you're looking for a light, no nonsense, stiff, XC wheelset look no further. from San Rafael Date Reviewed: June 22, 2006 | | Duration Product Used: | 6 months | | Strengths: | Wheels are light and stiff. They accelerate easily and handle techie stuff with aplomb. They feel solid as you ride. | | Weaknesses: | HUBS, PRODUCT SUPPORT! The bearings got crunchy after some time, but the freewheel mechanism completely disintegrated. Easton refused to warrantee them, as well as claimed that they did not have the tools to repair the rusty ratchet ring. They do not have the tools at the factory to repair their own product? Are you kidding? | | Similar Products Used: | I've been using Chris King hubs for ten years or so, and DT for about two years now. I bought a used DT hub. It had some play in it and the bearings did not feel super fresh. They replaces all the internls free of charge. (so I bought another pair of hubs when the time came around for it for a different bike) I still have and use the King rear hub that came from their first production run over ten years ago. No prob. Basic Shimano hubs, LX, XT and XTR. All fine quality products. | | Bike Setup: | Seven Sola. XTR | | Bottom Line: | Wheels felt fine till the hubs went. No customer service. The guy at the factory did not sound at all surprised that the hubs failed, and did not understand why I expected anything more from his product. Maybe I just got a moron on the phone, but if someone were to ask my expereience and recomendations reguarding these wheels, I'd say run as fast as you can away from them. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |
