      Date Reviewed: 1/4/2008 11:04:22 PM
      Duration Product Used: 3 months
      Price Paid: $650
Purchased At: North of the Border
Strengths: About as light as you can get while still allowing one to still ride aggressively. The DT4.2D rims are strong and light. Swiss Hugi 240S hubs are great. RWS thru bolt axles are amazing!!! Highly recommend the RWS thru bolts...a must!!!
Weaknesses: The wheelset with the RWS aint cheap. Not as blingy as King or Mavic, but this wheelset does cost a lot less and more importantly works better.
Similar Products Tried: Mavic 717, Velocity VXC Disc, etc.
      Bike Setup: Ellsworth Truth 2007
Bottom Line: Wheels are the most critical component on a bike, and this wheelset is exceptional. The bike handles better than ever, and lighter wheels make for faster acceleration.

The RWS thru-bolt skewers are sooo much better than quick release....I spend less time messing around putting on my front wheel now, and they make the front end much more stable.

      Duration Product Used: 6 months
      Price Paid: $500
Strengths: Well built - light, strong, durable, very smooth rolling. Easy to maintain.
First thing I've noticed is how light the entire wheelset is, it will make you think will it even hold just your rolling weight. So far, after a few hundred miles, some jumps, some down hill, and spills, the wheels are still as good as new/true.
Weaknesses: None, made me weak after paying for it hahaha.
Similar Products Tried: Mavic Cross Ride, Mavic Rims laced to Deore Hubs. DT XR series.
Bottom Line: Bottom Line is these wheels are not cheap, you should look at replacement parts and how much they cost, how easy they are to get a hold of. That will help you decide your total cost to own a set, since they all break at some point.

I've recently converted the hubs from QR to Thrubolt, now the wheelset is twice as stiff. Add about another 150-200 to your investment.

      Duration Product Used: 3 months
      Price Paid: $400
Strengths: Light, strong, stiff (testwinner in a wellknown German magazin). Accelerates well, rough downhills no problem at all. Stiffer than Mavix Crossmax SL, and about as light (my weight: 70 kg).
      Weaknesses: None.
Similar Products Tried: Non-disk wheelset for my hardtail with V-brakes: same characteristics.
Bike Setup: Spec.Epic; DT Swiss, Thompson, XT, Magura Marta, Easton, Fox 80 RLT, Chris King
Bottom Line: Better than Mavic Crossmax SL; it only hasn't the Crosmax 'looks'. But what is most important? And way cheaper through www.aktionsports.de(?)!!

      Duration Product Used: 3 months
      Purchased At: lbs
Strengths: looks, solid and very light
      Weaknesses: non
Similar Products Tried: Shimano hubs, other DT swiss, etc..
      Bike Setup: standard
Bottom Line: Buy it if you can and you will not regret it! This thing is stiff and very light. I ride aggressive XC and do a few jumps here there and is as stiff as anything I have ever tried before.

      Date Reviewed: 5/17/2005 9:52:49 AM
Duration Product Used: Less than 1 month
      Price Paid: $410
      Purchased At: Stadler in Germany
Strengths: Unbelievably light, great bearings, very strong so far
Weaknesses: Normally price, but you can find good deals on them (I got the full set w/ 240s disc hubs, XR4.1 rims, DT comp spokes for $410)
Similar Products Tried: Specialized Stout, Shimano LX and XT
Bike Setup: 2004 Specialized Stumpjumper FSR w/ many upgrades
Bottom Line: Veeeery light wheelset that is well made and strong. I'll post more after I've had them for longer. So far two XC races and a few small drops, and they're great.

      Duration Product Used: 3 months
      Price Paid: $600
      Purchased At: LBS
      Strengths: Strong, Light, Nice Looking
      Weaknesses: None
      Similar Products Tried: Mavic's (817, 717, Crossmax)
      Bike Setup: Titus Switchblade
Bottom Line: These wheels are the strongest and lightest I've ever ridden!!! They absolutely blow the Crossmax SL's I changed out for away!!!
I ride some pretty rocky, rutty, rooty trails out here in the Rocky's and these things take a lickin and ask for more. Never had to true them. And I'm no lightweight at 200 lbs.
This is absolutely the stiffest, strongest wheelset I have ever ridden. And everybody in my group keeps asking me where I got them because they look so sweeeet and clean!
