If you have broken these rims or hubs, you are either lying are don't know hor to ride. I ride two-three times per week and have not had a single problem. Front rim worked great with homemade sealant. Rear rim (asym) wouldn't work with the tubeless rim strip, so I stretched a 20" BMX presta tube over the rim (cut down the middle so it sticks out both sides after you mount the tire) and it sealed even better than the front with the Bontrager strip. It's a great tubeless wheelset on the cheap!
Couldn't find a review spot for the bontrager tubeless rim strips, so more comments here: Wonderful product designed for wider cross-country rims. I couldn't get it to work with 517's due to the narrow rim (21.8 outer measurement). I think the bontrager strip will work with any symmetrical rim wider than about 22.5. The bontrager rims (mustang tubeless) they're actually designed for are around 23.5 or so. | | Value Rating:Overall Rating: |

I never had any problems with front wheel, hub was great, the rim strong enuff for me. But the rear was a nitemare. Hub was making funny noise. went to the shop three times, still no luck. The rim by that time was ok. Then hub started to sound like a pepper grinder. Replaced the whose hub with an XT one. Then the rim couldnt stay true after one ride. i will pay someone to ride the wheels now.

When I corner hard I can actually hear the front wheel flex so much that it makes contact with my brake pad. I wore out the rear one in less than a year. I have no complaints at all about the rims, people rag on them but they dont ave any Idea what they are saying. I ride the chit out of them and have bottomed out my shock and blown out tires from smashing into rocks and boulders but the rims stay true. I think if they were built a little better in the hub and spoke department they would really be a fabulous wheelset.

Alumimum nipples strip easy. Hubs severly worn after 2 yrs. The wheelset is able to deal easily with downhill if properly tuned (tight alot the spokes). The hubs are Bonty's quality; just had to change the rear hub cone after a year (there's no seal like Shimano's). They don't need a lot of truing (but i'm doing freeride so... i swear it's not a rim who will stop my ride)Have to change the rear rim because it's cracked and I want discs. Doing a lot of freeriding technical singletrack on rocks now so these wheels take a bashing. I bent the rim twice in three weeks - but mainly due to riding low pressure tyres over the rocks. Changed tyrew to WTB nanoraptors 2.40 so no rim problem anymore. Had to replace 4 spokes the other day but after 2000 miles off road that is quite good going I think. Havent checked the brake surface but I guess they will wear through eventually. Not sure how much they actually weigh but with the cheap alloy hub I would guess I could knock of about 1-1.5 lbs. just by ugrading. I don't always ride them, but I do use them for my trash wheels. The weather here is nasty, always humid as hell if a typhoon isn't brewing. The majority of trails here are infested with coral, and boulders so these wheels take a beetin all the way around. And that's without doing a lick of maintenance on em.. I put about 1700-2000 miles on the rims. During these miles they required a lot of maintainance. Then the spokes started breaking after 6 spokes (one of which caught my derailer and cost me a new one)I am now shopping for a new wheel set. For what it's worth I do ride hard. Buy them if you dont't plan on riding hard. | <
