Description:A mid level tire drive trainer using Minoura's patented magnetic resistance unit. A great trainer for serious road riders.

Silent amd with a wide range of resistance, the magnetic resistance system allows high-speed/low-resistance training to improve your pedaling skills.

A heavy 850 gram machined steel flywheel provides a smooth feel while pedaling.

Lightweight and stable wide span leg steel frame folds away for easy storage or transport.

    Duration Product Used:3 months
    Price Paid: $119.00
    Purchased At:Dick's Sporting Goods
Strengths:The trainer is quiet running. Am using a kenda Kwest 100 psi rear tire. Its quiet enough to watch TV while exercising. The handlebar remote is easy to use. The flywheel is big enough to give smooth pedaling on all the resistance settings. I usually use the highest resistance setting using the largest front chainring and the fifth gear on the rear cassette. Shifting up to the highest gear gives very strong resistance for a harder workout. The unit comes with an all metal quick release skewer so you don't have to use the plastic capped shimano type. The unit is easy to set up. There is a foot pedal to engage and disengage the rear tire from the flywheel.
Weaknesses:None so far. It is accumulating some black rubber dust on the floor under the rear tire, so there is some tire wear using the trainer.
Similar Products Used:Stationary friction excercycle. Health Club exercycles with electronic control displays
Bike Setup:26 inch 24 speed mountain bike with smooth tread tire on the back.
Bottom Line:The MAG 850R is a good quality trainer. The pedal feel is realistic and pedaling is very smooth. There is enough resistance in the higher settings to exceed what I encounter in normal street and trail riding.
