Favoriate Trail:Fountain Head Regional Park
Duration Product Used:6 months
Price Paid: $10.00
Purchased At:Performance Bikes
Strengths:Super Light, good grip on the cross country trails and fast as heck.
Weaknesses:They go bald pretty fast and the compound is a little hard, but for that price I'm not crying.
Similar Products Used:Hutchinson Pythons
Bike Setup:Custom Kona Cinder Cone
Bottom Line:These are great tires, great weight, great price. Put them on your cross country race bike and you will be greatly surprised.

Favoriate Trail:The one no one else rides
Duration Product Used:3 months
Price Paid: $13.00
Purchased At:Performance
Strengths:Very light and cheap. 120 TPI for $13 is pretty darn good.
Weaknesses:Won't last forever, but who cares at $13? Probably not real puncture-resistant, but no flats so far.
Similar Products Used:Lots of WTB, Hutchinson, Specialized, IRC, Michelin, Conti
Bike Setup:GT Zaskar LE &Trek 8700, built up the way I like them
Bottom Line:Great tires for enjoying the drought! Here in SoCal the trails are dry and dusty after 3 inches of rain in the last year. One benefit of the drought is there are lots fewer goathead thorns this year, so I decided to ride lighter tires after a couple years of having to be totally thorn-proof on Specialized Roll-X Armadillos (totally puncture-proof, really heavy). I'm very happy with the FastTracs. They're nice and light, cheap, and ride pretty damn nice. Not so good in mud or deep loose stuff, but I don't expect them to be since that's not the job of a low-tread XC tire. Seem to be a very good value for 13 bucks.

Date Reviewed: December 30, 2003
Duration Product Used:3 months
Price Paid: $15.00
Purchased At:Performance
Strengths:Light, easy to mount, does not wash out in the turns, good traction on medium to hard surfaces, low price, low rolling resistance
Weaknesses:Does not have enough grip for soft surfaces and sand. Sidewalls are thin and could be a concern in rocky terrain
Similar Products Used:Hutchinson Mosquito Lights, Kenda Klaw, IRC Mythos
Bike Setup:Specialized Rockhopper, Skarab fork, RaceFace cranks, SRAM 7.0 deraillers and shifters, Terry Ti Fly saddle, WTB hubs and rims
Bottom Line:Good value for the money if you ride on medium to hard trails or streets.
Value Rating:5Overall Rating:4
