No flats in a year and I ride 15+ hours a week. Rolls good, corners predictably in all conditions. It is not great like a Weirwolf in the corners, but it holds a line if you have your bike dialed. Good on rocks,roots and i like it in the soft even though it has smaller knobs. This is probally one of the best all around 2.4 front tires. It even rolls nice on the street. I'd buy em again. | | Weaknesses: | Kinda heavy at 700+ grams. but you can run lite tubes cuz their tough. They don't corner at very very high speed 30+ mph, like a weirwolf. | | Similar Products Used: | WTB weirwolf, WTB Velociraptor, IRC missles | | Bike Setup: | Blur classic, 4"inches up front & 4.3" out back. Formula Oro Puro, X.0 with xtr crank. Hand made DT swiss wheels. 27.02 pounds barends and pedals included. 5 hour ultimate mountan bike. | | Bottom Line: | Get em if you ride a variety of terrains and conditions and like to run low pressure. I rode them with 20psi one day still didnt get a flat. I like between 30 and 45psi depending on the trail. I dont know about this 50psi plus talk, I mean maybe in the rear maybe. but you put 50psi in the front and your giving up a lot of corner traction in my opinion. Dont do that with this tire because it doesnt have an abundance of traction. just enough for almost any ride. They roll very very fast even for a big heavy bombproof tire. Date Reviewed: January 20, 2007 | | Duration Product Used: | More than 3 years | | Strengths: | riding straight... | | Weaknesses: | turning, going fast, and turning | | Bottom Line: | i've been steadily bumping up tire width in the 13 years i've been riding...this has been the biggest. beware, bigger will not be better. i find myself longing for my old irc missiles, much narrower, but oh man, so much better. my riding lately has tended towards downhilling, so i thought that these would be a good way to go. in corners, dry or wet, they have a nasty habit of slipping out very early in the turns. i've ridden on tires that do this, but much later in the turn, which works well. these throw you off the second you initiate a turn. they are extremely poor for wet nw conditions. and they certainly are not impervious to flats. i know you shouldn't expect good rolling resistance from such a meaty tire, but it was much poorer than I expected. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

$35.00 | | Purchased At: | pricepoint | | Strengths: | great grip in anything (including snow), sheds mud quickly, never flats w/ a large tube, never loses traction unless you make it - ie locking rear brake | | Weaknesses: | need big tubes otherwise you'll probably flat a lot (wouldn't know- i run them w/ maxxis 2.5-2.7 tubes... expensive but never flat) that, and they are wicked heavy | | Similar Products Used: | just about every other WTB tire except weirwolf | | Bike Setup: | 01 GT avalanche 2.0 w/ beefy components | | Bottom Line: | these tires are awesome. i like to do light freeriding and heavy XC and not have to worry about switching tires. these tires will go anywhere you want em to and stick like glue. rolling resistance is huge- but hey it's a 2.4... i run them right around 30 psi- give or take 5 and i've never had problems. granted i'm only 155ish lbs, but no problems nonetheless. if you don't care about weight or rolling resistance, these tires are awesome. the most versatile thing i've ever ridden. | | Value Rating:Overall Rating: |

They had little to no grip. I ran them at 40PSI and figured I would lower the PSI to increase traction. All that did was allow the tire to rollover in turns.
