I used it for the Iditabike race in 2000 and continue to use it for snow riding. I have about 3 pairs. It's great in sand too and surprisingly on Moab slickrock. I think this is the best tire ever made- certainly for the rear. I believe there is no "One Tire" for all conditions, but for me - this is one tire that works reasonably well in all and exceptionally well in many. For their size and tread design they are very lightweight, fast, controlable at speed, and supply predictable traction over a variety of terrain. Yes, they may present clearance problems with some frames. Yes, the sidewalls are thin - but riding in the desert southwest is always a very rocky proposition and after having gone through many sets of these tires (front & rear) over five years I have yet to have had a sidewall failure. I have tried many different tires in 13 years of riding and have found some that excelled in very specific conditions and faltered in others. This particular tire seems to do all jobs well enough for me - I'll be sad the day they stop manufacturing this tread design. The "roundness" problem that others have written about previously is due to the tire's large size and supple sidewall and the problem can be corrected by careful inflation and seating of the kevlar bead in the rim. I typically will inflate the tire to roughly 15 psi and go around the rim and make sure the bead is seated properly. | | Value Rating:Overall Rating: |

Works in tight situations that require fast response because of the shorter tread design and the knobbie design itself.
The look of them might throw ya off at first, but try 'em and see. Mine usually were at 40psi. If you ride in hardpack / rocky areas, these babies will make you a happy camper, even downhill through 3 inches of sand at superman near Santa Rosa plat. I don't know why Geax can't make a round tire, but it probably doesn't affect the performance, just kind of annoying.

It barely clears the brake arch of my Z2. A toothpick barely fits between the arch and the tire. Thank god it doesn't pick up rocks like the vertical pro. The grip is excellent as long as you don't over inflate. At the right pressure it is very sticky and reasonably fast. It's not great when going over slippery objects perpendicular to the trail. But on hard pack the tire is so huge that you can just lean it over and you'll never get to the edge. First impression when riding them is that they are a little more sensitive than the Bontrager Jones AC tires I was running before. Handling is superb, I mean instant response and wonderful grip on pavement and hard pack and gravel. Strengths are that it has a huge volume and really spreads out for a lot of traction when you need it most. An absolutely essential tire in rocky conditions, the volume lets you run it a little lower pressure wise so you can get a little shock absorption and better traction. i've had this on for just about a year and there is very little wear, not sure why but I'm not complaining. I'm not sure why the reader below said they're too big for tight singletrack, I find they're great for tight trialsy type stuff where you have to creep over big rocks, etc. Great low speed traction. And surprisingly little rolling resistance for such a big tire! overall an amazing tire. --'98 C'dale SV 900, Cane Creek WAM's. | | Bottom Line: | Both of the Geax 225 size tires- Sedona and Blade- are about 1/2 taller on each side of the rim when mounted than their 200 or 185 sizes. This makes them too tall for clearance on my seat stays. But I tried both of them on the front. They both do an excellent job on their own intended terrain, as I've described elsewhere. (See Sedona 200, Blade 200 & 185.)
3.5 burnt weenies because of the height problem, 5 for everything else.

As for the weight issue on the review below. listed weight for the 225 is 670 Kevlar beaded, and 720 rigid for the first production. Current production and listed weight is 645kev and 700rigid. The 2.25 Sedona is a pretty cool tire. First off, it's really big and green. Second, it has great traction and feel and it is light(my 2.25 weighs an actual 615 grams but not the claimed 565 grams or whatever). It works good in everything I ride on: mostly hardpack rocky, rooty forest trails but also sand and loam. I ride it on a rigid bike and it works well at low pressures for this purpose: you can run it at low pressures for the cushyness and not worry about pinch flats. I like this tire a lot.The only negative is that it is slightly slower rolling than my next favorite tire: Specialized Ground Control 2/k 1.9 (actual weight 537 grams). But that's to be expected as the Sedona 2.25 is a really big tire. | | Overall Rating: |

I have been using this tire for only about a week but it has proven to be excelent at handling the rough rocky trailes in southern UT. When I first put it on my bike I was worried about it's size - it is huge, barely fits in the rock shox. I would not use it for mud as it would clog up and put you over the bars. This is by far the best tire I have ever used. It is light, it gives a nice soft
ride, it is neutral handling, and it really hooks up in the turns.
I like it better then the Ritchey 2.35 because they handle so much quicker.
It feels like I have a new bike.
(I ride a Cannondale hardtail, in dessert terrain.)
