Description:Prowler SS 2.3” /// $50

  • Usage: All Mountain / Freeride
  • Conditions: Dry, hardpack to loose
  • Specs: Race casing, DNA rubber, 860 grams.

The Prowler SS (Slope Style) takes the square-profile, open design of the Prowler XT and doubles the central twin-knobs for unparalleled rolling efficiency. With DNA rubber compound and loads of siping, the SS boasts a healthy dose of traction along with straight-ahead speed. In hardpack conditions the SS performs incredibly well as a rear tire, paired with a Prowler MX, Prowler XT or WeirWolf LT up front.

Favoriate Trail:Blackrock, Post Canyon, Gorge/Hood, Tillamook NF
    Duration Product Used:3 months
    Price Paid: $34.00
    Purchased At:Universal cycles
Strengths:Fast, fast rolling, grip on hardpack and loose on hardpack, holds a line outstanding in these conditions, size, and affordable.
Weaknesses:Poor, poor grip on wet, completely useless in the mud, muck, mire, questionable longevity of rubber due to softer coupound 50A, would be better as dual or triple compound tire.
Similar Products Used:WTB MX, XT Prowler, Motoraptor, Schwalbe Big Betty, Maxxis Highroller, Kenda Nevegal, Blue Groove, Kinetics, Specialized Enduro RS, Continental Diesel
Bike Setup:06' Turner RFX 6x6 with AM/FR specs
Bottom Line:Excellent summer or drier conditioned rear tire that compliments the MX Prowler up front nicely for fast, somewhat aggro riding going up and down that's great bombing down and railing fast harpack trails and FR stuff like "skinnies", ladders, burms, etc. Excellent roll and grip, fantastic on hardpack, murder in the wet. Like it better than the XT Prowler, not as good as the MX Prowler, but haven't ran the MX on the rear so not a fair comparison.
