Duration Product Used:Less than 1 month
    Price Paid: $50.00
    Purchased At:a shop
Strengths:Has good grip, light weight for a downhill tyre
Weaknesses:single ply, i lost a race because i was getting pinches at 40 psi
    Similar Products Used:maxxis minions
Bike Setup:Giant reign x0, downhill setup
Bottom Line:i had these tyres on my downhill bike front and rear and was in love with them. Until i went to a rocky downhill track. i did quite a large huck of a boulder, the landing was rocky, but i didn't expect to put an inch long tear in my tube. then it pinched at 30psi sliding along an off camber corner in my next run. didnt have a lot of fun that day. but anyway a good front tyre as it has loads of grip.

Strengths:Tough, grip really well in all conditions.
Weaknesses:Shed mud OK, but not really well.

Bike Setup:Giant ATX 7 frame, for cross country with some DH.
Bottom Line:THIS IS A PRODUCT REVIEW FOR THE WTB Prowler MX 2.1

This tire is tough yet pretty soft. I need a tire that can do anything, I prefer downhill, but I have to cycle to the hills on the roads, so I can't be having some great big 2.5. I also need to cycle uphill too, so I need uphill grip. Also hanging out in an urban environment doing hops and wheelies.

The rolling resistance on this tires isn't great, but it ain't supposed to be. They do stick like glue leaning or braking on bitumen and even well on dusty concrete. But I use these tires because of how they perform in the hills, I'll put up with the rolling resistance issues for them being sure footed on bitumen, hard-pack, loose over hard-pack, gravel (small) or light/medium mud.

I'm not a competition rider, if I was, I'd chose a tire specific to the conditions on that day, the Prowler MX does well in most conditions. Specific ompetition tires are often high-tech super soft tires that are not tough enough, for everyday abuse. (like Larsen TT)

If I wasn't gonna run these I'd try Maxxis Holy Rollers.

Strengths:I have only used this tire on the front:

Awesome, awesome grip. Very tough too. I've only flatted once and that was after casing a double.
Weaknesses:Heavy. Very soft rubber, which is a plus and a minus.
    Similar Products Used:IRC Trailbear 2.5
    Bike Setup:SC Bullit
Bottom Line:It grips really well but I'm not convinced it is worth the weight, unless you are DH racing. I've had the tire about 3 months now and all the knobs have disintegrated. About 30% of each knob remains. They are still tall but they have large chunks ripped out of the middle, especially the side knobs. Which I suppose is good in a way: the tire will rip apart before letting go of the dirt.

As long as I can continue to pick up Trailbear 2.5's for $25, which way around half what the Prowler MX weighs, I'll stick with the Trailbear.

Strengths:As previously mentioned, Grip! They are exceptional in dry dusty conditions, stick to roots, and rail nice and fast in corners - very confidence inspiring. Sidewalls seem decently sturdy. For the size of tire they roll smoothly too.
Weaknesses:A bit heavy, would be nice to see a 2.3 version too.

Bike Setup:Nomad, I9 wheels, Saint brakes/ cranks, Marz 66 SL ATAs'
Bottom Line:We've had a dry dusty summer and a rep buddy of mine gave me a set to test out, I have to say I haven't been a WTB fan in the past and he knows it. I have been running Nevegals for the last season and didn't have much to complain about but I was willing to give them an honest try. I did want something a bit bigger, mainly for trail riding, that could handle all the roots and sharp rocks we have around here. These tires impressed with their traction, only sliding once so far on an extremely loose descent that pretty much everyone walks down (as I did after I started to slide towards a big Cedar). I also found that they roll smoother than my Nevegals even though they are a bigger size, I think they may be a bit grippier too but I would have to test them against a fresh set of Kendas to be sure. I'm not sure that the kevlar versions are burly enough for a full on aggressive DH/chairlifting set up and they are still a bit heavy as a pure trail tire for a lot of people, unless you live in an area that is hard on tires and are willing to have some extra heft for durability. They would however be a great tire for those who want one tire that will work for a day of chairlifting followed by a day of trailriding, like your average road trip.
All in all, WTB has a great tread design that I would like to see in more sizes and variations, it would give the Nevegal some competition.

Strengths:GRIP GRIP GRIP AND MORE GRIP!!! Runs like a tire should run, huge fat tread that can climb well and downhill beautifully. Grips great on street and virtually any dirt or mud surface.
Weaknesses:Just a tad on the heavy side and a tad expensive but hey, its worth it.

Favoriate Trail:anything fast, rooty and rocky with jumps
Duration Product Used:Less than 1 month
    Price Paid: $32.00
    Purchased At:Universal
    Strengths:Grip...grip...grip
True to size, good roller, big and high-volumed, sturdy sidewalls for race version meaning can run lower pressures for improved comliancy and grip
Weaknesses:maybe only the dofter rubber 50a on harder surfaces, may wear quicker than others.
Similar Products Used:Spesh Roller RS, Conti Diesel, Kenda Nevegal/Blue Groove, WTB Motoraptor, Timberwolf
Bike Setup:06 Turner RFX 6X6 with 2.5 MX Prowler front and 2.3 XT rear
Bottom Line:Fast, excellent cornerning tire that grips like no other in hard soiled and dry, loose terrain. A great value and great alternative to other tires that are more $$ with less performance. Highly recommend for the ideal all. mt/FR tire for those who ride hard in all conditions, but still climb.

Strengths:This is a review for the Prowler MX Race(& XT Race 2.3), weighs 960g. Big tire, very grippy, pretty light, excellent rolling resistance, seems tough. Aramid bead, 50 durometer.
Weaknesses:None so far. Maybe long term durability, pretty soft tire.
Similar Products Used:Minions, Conti Diesels, Spesh Roller RS
Bike Setup:05 Spesh SX Trail, Marz 66, Transition Revolution wheels, WTB Prowler MX Race 2.5 front & XT Race 2.3 rear.
Bottom Line:These tires seems like the bomb so far. I bought them to lighten up my SX Trail some for trail rides, but still have tires tough enough for FR & DH. They roll super fast and have reasonable weight for a tough tire. Really grip well, my Yakima rack won't let go of the tire when I try to take if off the roof rack, worked just as great on the trail. Haven't ridden big FR or DH with yet, but they should be fine after hitting 4-6ft jumps/drops. Really helped make the heavy SXT a much more versatile bike. I would highly recommend for any terrain. How long they last with a 50 durometer rubber would be the only question yet to be determined. Get u sum!!!
