The Loco Lobo tires do well here. They might be a little more narrow than advertised. They are absolutely fantastic and going up, down, and turning. I have had great longevity with them- I got 6 months of rides from my first pair. They can even be used with tubeless kits. (2.3 is smaller than the 2.35 Nevegal but larger than the Conti Vertical). Tried them up front and on back. Weighed ~800g from memory. Good rolling for the size and the versatile tread pattern lends itself well as a rear tyre IMO. Race Face atlas cranks, Sram X-7 shifters with X-9 derailures | | Bottom Line: | I puchased these with the hope that I could get some good, all around traction in the Kansas City area. The mud WILL NOT come out of these things, even at 25mph on the road. They do hold well and are fairly fast when the conditions are dry and sandy. I could see them being great for Moab type riding but stay clear for the sticky mud terrain. Keep the PSI LOW! When you run it high, it will slide off roots and rocks!
I dropped the PSI and the grip improved dramatically. They feel solid and can take a good beating with big drops being no issue. The cornering is moderate with better than average stability. It has been a solid tire. Only one flat, a high speed pinch flat that i probably deserved, running too low pressure with a tube. I tired to mount this tire to a UST Mavic 819 rim and was unsucessful. I'll be getting the TNT or UST version shortly to replace the regular version that I a currently running with tubes. Been out to Moab, it was fantastic on slickrock, great in muddy conditions on the front range as well as the regular dry conditions I am use to here.
