Strengths:-Rolls very well on any hard surface. (street, hard pack, rock, wood, etc...)
-Grips very well on any hard surface.
-Nice volume for a 2.3" tire
    -Seems pretty bomber in construction.
-Lighter than other similar tires (Holy Rollers).
Weaknesses:-Fairly heavy, compared to other commuter / semislick tires but rolls so well I don't notice the weight.
-Has no side knobs, so cornering on loose trails can be risky.
-Braking traction is sort of lacking.

    Bike Setup:Fully Rigid Trek 1X8 26er
Bottom Line:I put the 2.3" KRADS on my fully rigid 26er for commuting. Surprised how well they work on hard pack single track and forest roads. Grips and rolls very well on any hard surface, pavement, hard pack dirt, rock, whatever. Tires seem to be wearing well so far. They are burly compared to other semislick options and cushion the ride on the fully rigid. Haven't noticed any grip issues in the rain and the tire doesn't seem to pack up in Mud--but its not really grippy in mud either. Its a great 50/50 tire for commuting to work and then riding some trails on the way home.

Bottom Line:I rode these once on a DORBA trail also, like the guy below me. they work great on the street, okay on the dirt. Harpack is fine, but if it's loose, be careful. Grips rocks great too!
I also rode them as commuter tires for a few months. Worked great, quick and comfy, but had to go back to using with flat protection.
Excellent price, great for urban riding, okay in the dirt, great for "mixed use" bikers how hit the Greenbelt or rail-trails, etc. smooth efficient ride.

    Bike Setup:Giant Yukon for XC.
Bottom Line:Kenda KRADS are superb tires on the street and the trail. After I purchased by MTB I switched from the stock tires that came on my bike (a Kenda Blue Groove for the front, and a Kenda Nevegal for the rear) and tried the KRADS on one of the DORBA (Dallas Off Road Bicycle Association) trails, and had a blast. Good for mild climbs. Great tires. After a while I put back the stock tires, and went back on the trail.
Now I want to ride to the trails instead of hauling my Giant to the trail. So, the other day I switched from my Kenda Nevegals back to my KRADs. I took 'em out today, they roll very fast on the pavement.
Alot of rain came down recently, so I have been able to get to a trail. But, the trails will soon be dry, and when that happens, I'm hittin' the trails with my KRADS.
    I can't wait.

Bike Setup:Gary Fisher Bitter, size small frame. Bontrager Big Earl tire in front, Kenda K-Rad in rear, otherwise stock.
Bottom Line:I bought my GF Bitter to commute to college and work (about 1-1.5 miles each way) and it is mostly sidewalks. The stock Bontrager Big Earl tires were WAY too soft for that, but that's not what they were designed for. I also like to do a little jumping and trail riding on weekends, but most of that is paved as well. I bought a pair of Kenda K-Rad tires after doing some shopping around and I put one on the rear rim only for now, I'll see how that works out and maybe put the other up front later, but for now the pedaling efficiency has already improved dramatically over the Big Earl. This is a great tire for pavement and a little dirt riding on weekends.

Strengths:Sticks very well to pavement. Absorbs shock well.I have used these in skateparks, and dirtjumping and both work very well. Recently I tried these off road on a mountain trail and when used w/low pressure got better traction than a lot of the knobby tires I,ve used especially because of the large volume tire it is. It felt like I had a better longer travel front shock on the downhills. which gave my body less fatigue than any cross country tire I have ever used.
Weaknesses:None when used in conditions it is made for. It could have a little bit deaper tread pattern which would probably help on off road use.

Bottom Line:This tire sticks very well to the ground. This is a great tire! Works especially well on hardpack dirt and pavement.
Absorbs shock very well and doesn't feel very heavy.

If you are looking for a tire that's inexpensive and works well on light to Medium trails and street, this is your tire.

Strengths:Light, Super Wide, takes landings and staircases with extreme ease (soft), good traction
Weaknesses:not as good traction as Maxxis Hookworms (2.5" wide), feel slight lag when cornering
Similar Products Used:Maxxis Hook Worms 2.5"
Bike Setup:2006 Giant STP Lenosky Edition, Truvativ Hollzfeller (22,32,rg) Cranks, HB, Stem, Team Howitzer BB, Mavic DeeMax front Wheel (20 mm axle), Marzocchi DJ2, Avid BB7 Ft. and Rr brakes, SRAM X.9 Shifters, Rear Der, X-Gen Front Der.
Bottom Line:This is a head to head comparison of the Kenda K-Rad 26x2.5" to the Maxxis Hookworms 26x2.5" over a 24 mile ride, 12 miles per tire in an urban Assault/Commuter setting.

I've been spoiled for the past 2.5 years due to riding Hook Worms for that long. I have complete confidence in them. But when I broke my Specialized P.1 frame I decided to change the tires while I built a completely new bike. So I chose the K-Rad.

K-Rad Strengths - Fast Rolling (good commuter tires over Hook worms), super soft on landings and staircases, decent for trials scenarios, have not ridden them off road yet, but I will assume they will do better then the hook worms because of the tread design, I'll give an updated review of off road performance later. Super Wide. Good on Wall Rides. never pinch flat

Weaknesses (over Hookworms) - Super Wide, I can't use my front derailleur to go to the small ring, which is not needed in an urban environment, but its nice to know everything can work, keep this in mind depending on your bicycle setup and riding style. Feel somewhat like they are going to wash out from under me in a turn, but like I said I've been spoiled with Hookworms, I will ride the K-Rads more to see if I can get the real feel for them. Maybe because the reason above, these tires don't let the bike feel as lively in tight urban situations. With the thinner casing im afraid I might get more punctures, but I still have sealing tubes - no worries.

    Hook Worms
Strengths - Never a Lack in Traction, Super Wide, Front Derailleur still works, not that I need it in urban, nice to know it all works. Bike feels very lively, change direction in an instant with no hesitation. don't roll as fast as the K-Rad, they are a little bit heavier. Thick tread and side wall make you feel you can run over anything without going flat. I've had 4 real flats on these tires in 2.5 years. You could ride up the side of a building with these tires

Weaknesses - now that I've ridden a different urban tire, I find the only couple weaknesses of these tires, if you consider them that. Compared to the K-Rad, the Hook Worms do not take landings or staircases as smoothly, even with an experienced rider. little bit heavier (may be a weakness to you). work well offroad because of the width, but takes an experienced rider with a lot of finesse to make them work really well.

Bottom Line? Run a single ring up front, Chain Guide, Heavier rider, like a plush ride without a lot of suspension, don't mind a slight lack in cornering confidence? Never ridden an Urban tire before? Think you will ride off road as much as you do on road? Want to have one tire to do everything? The K-Rads are for you.

Like Cornering prowess, confidence in everything on your bike, have a front derailleur, heavier rider, don't mind a slightly rougher ride, have landing finesse? Want a Strictly Urban Tire? Lots of flat causing debris in the riding areas near you? Then The Hook Worms are a good choice for you.

I will put my K-Rads back on my bike just to give them a second chance. now that I know my bike will corner like my old one with the hook worms, I will see if its possible to get myself to conform to the cornering of the K-Rad, they are a super nice plush ride everywhere. I'm not phasing them out just yet. They are both great tires depending on your person riding needs and style.

4 Chilis value for the K-Rad because it is an all around performer

3 chilis overall for the K-Rad because it doesn't out perform other tires in certain areas (as of yet)

Weaknesses:Does not have some side lugs that could be a help in urban and neighborhood parks or rocks.
    Similar Products Used:Other semi-slick 2 inch + tires.
    Bike Setup:Giant STP1
Bottom Line:I don't understand the poor reviews here unless we have a pack of fools thinking a tire without many knobs and lugs is supposed to excel at off road riding. I actually pinched a different 2.5 in tire whose maker advertises it as a tough and big hit tire where the K-Rad at same 40 lbs was fine.

If Michelin made a Rock in a 2.3-2.5 I'd take it first.

These tires are great for exactly how my burley hard tail is used - mostly in city and parks where the riding if for tricks and jumps. I've used the bike with a lugged 2.5 tire and went back to these because they are superior for fast city riding and leaned over pavement grip and I still get around in a park that's an old quarry.

I would love these as commuters too. At least my style of over curbs and short cut commuting.

Duration Product Used:Less than 1 month
    Purchased At:Tim's
Strengths:Cheap next to Hookworms. Easy to take off/on rims. Hold up in the Skate Park.
Weaknesses:Cheaper than hookworms but not as strong.
    Similar Products Used:hookworms.
Bike Setup:Kona stuff Stock mini me and the K-rads
Bottom Line:Over all because they aren't strong enough in the sidwall area. But you can't beat the PRICE. Isn't that the important part?
