Strengths:Roll well, good feel in the corners on most surfaces. Easy to catch when they start to let go in corners. Hook up well on climbs and last well! Easy to fit and run true. Better than my Nevagals on loose surfaces. Very puncture resistant.
Weaknesses:Not as good as my other favorites on greasy/wet roots and rocks.
Similar Products Used:I have 2 favorite sets off tyres, Weirwolf and Kenda Nevagal. Use 2.1 rear & 2.3 Front run them at 35/40psi
    Bike Setup:Ghost ERT5500 5' rear travel, Pike 409, XT running gear & Juicy 7's
Bottom Line:Great value for the bux, half the price of my Nevagal & last twice as long. I have found them to be a good all round tyre, I ride reasonably fast and aggressively without skidding up the tracks.

Strengths:Works on most any trail I ride. cool looking desing. (If that really matters)
Weaknesses:gooey mud. Allthough that is not there intended use
    Similar Products Used:Kenda. Panaracer
    Bike Setup:Ironhorse full suspension
Bottom Line:They came with the bike and I have left them on since. For a general trail tire they work great with my bike. I hit everything from sand, rocks, gravel, roots, loam, log X-ing. There are better tires for each of these conditions but for the rider who's out there riding through different conditions all day, great tire. It corners, it climbs, it does it all.

    Duration Product Used:3 months
    Price Paid: $32.00
    Purchased At:Eriks Bikes
Strengths:Great grip on both fast and slow technical turns. Tires inspire confidence over a typical XC tire when you hit the harder trails.
Weaknesses:A little bit a wash out on the rear when it hits gravel on a hard turn. Weight seems heavy but not enough to worry about. Not the tire to use if your going to pedal on paved trails or want easy low resistance.
    Similar Products Used:A lot
    Bike Setup:Built up Epic.
Bottom Line:I was trying to decide between the Specialized Captain and this tire. The half off price was one good point but the shop manager said out off all of the tires they sell, it was what he used. Bottom line; I will buy these tires again when they wear out. They work great compared to everything I have used in the past but solely a single trak (etc)trail tire. If I take the bike on smooth race trail or the rocks at Moab, I would switch them out with something more specific for speed or rock grip.

Strengths:Free with my bike. Good grip on the front.
Weaknesses:Trouble on the loose terrain uphill stuff, you know with the rocks and the dusty dirt. The bike was set up with one in the front and back so I'm not really sure if it's for both.
Similar Products Used:Panaracer Smoke and Dart, Kenda Nevegals, Mythos XC
    Bike Setup:Ironhorse Warrior
Bottom Line:These tires are a pretty good weight I think, and seeing as I got them free it's not a bad deal at all, but for what I'm doing I need better grip so I'm switching back to the Nevegals.

Strengths:looks mean, super grippy in dry conditions, inspire much confidence when leaning into turns
Weaknesses:None so far, unless you count the dirt that it slings up onto my legs and the pebbles and twigs that it picks up. I don't know how they'll clean mud, but for now I'm in love.
Similar Products Used:PanaracerFireXC 2.1, Specialized Pro,
    Bike Setup:07 Stumpy
Bottom Line:I put these on and within minutes I could feel the difference. I could lean farther, turn faster, and generally push the limits that I'm used to.
I wasn't used to feeling sand and dirt being flung up onto my shins when turning and getting into it, but I see and hear the tires literally digging into the dirt with the paddle-like side tread. It just reminded me how much these things stick. It's like I'm riding on rails. The sidewalls seem like they'll take more of a beating than my Specialized Pros. I've gashed the sidewalls on those 3 times in 4 months.

    Duration Product Used:3 months

Strengths:GRIP! The perfect front tire for my SS rig, the 2.1 is still narrow enough to roll fast but keeps its ability to corner. Predictable drift at high-speeds in the dry, loose terrain here around Flag, sticks OK to Sedona's slick rock, durable casing has yet to give me a pinch flat. In wet muddy conditions I am a little nervous in the corners, but unless it is a mud bog these tires will hook up.
Weaknesses:Price? It does throw a lot of rocks, and in mud-bog conditions they turn into slicks...
Similar Products Used:IRC Mythos (decent tire, not as predictable in the front)
Kenda Kinetic 2.6 Stick-E (Big & comfy, slooooooooooow)
GEAX Sturdy (I miss this tire, they last forever)
    Bike Setup:One-One SS, 120mm travel, sub 23-pounds...
Bottom Line:The perfect front tire for me. Inspires go-fast cornering on AZ's dusty kitty-litter trails, hooks up well enough in wet conditions for my use. As a rear tire I have no experience, but as a front tire, buy it if you ride in dry conditions and you want a durable tire that is predictable.

Strengths:Very durable, excellent cornering, great traction, great all terrain tire.
    Weaknesses:none so far
Similar Products Used:Panaracer Fire XC and Smoke, Specialized, Mytos XC
Bike Setup:FSR Frame, Minute 3, Mavic 321, XT/XTR drive train, Eason 70 monkey bar, etc.
Bottom Line:I bought them in Chicago after trying the tires above. The terrain there is not as lets say Colorado, but is demanding as far as cornering and versatility goes - roots, gravel, hard pack, mud, hard corners...all in one trail. Anyway those worked great, no more sliding on the turn or wiping off on a gravel patch...Year and half ago I moved in Colorado and I've been abusing them on the hills - the ridge, dear creek, white ranch, three sisters trails. They have done more then great - claiming or downhill.. I've put my Mytos XC recently since the Weirwolfs were getting worn after two years and I pop them in one ride.

Bottom line I love those tires. Strongly recommended.

Strengths:Great straight-line and hard-cornering grip. Very durable. Light weight for intended use.
Weaknesses:Washes out easily on front end in moderate cornering situations. I think it might be due to the not-so-smooth transition between the center and outside knobs. I recommend this as a rear tire only for tight singletrack use.

Bottom Line:These were my first tires on my first bike, so I didn't know just how great they were until I got another bike with other tires... that sucked!

I've never had the Weirwolfs lose traction unless my weight was way off. Slow techy climbs in soft sand, while crossing large roots and rocks- up and over for as long as you can turn the pedals! Down steep, rough descents- point 'em and go! Ripping through turns at speed- lean it on over! Sidewalling roots and rocks, not a problem!

Needless to say, I'm swapping tires so my new bike will handle as confidently as my old.

Strengths:Traction on everything I've used them on: hardpack, loose, loose over hard, rocks. Durable tread.
Weaknesses:None. Not many local bike shops in my area carry this tire but it's widely available on line.

Bike Setup:Santa Cruz Superlight built with mostly SRAM X9.
Bottom Line:I purchased a pair of the 2.1 race tires with the DNA rubber compound. Just an awesome tire. Downhill braking traction on loose technical stuff exceeds the Nevegals. Tires roll fast and the tread seems extremely durable. Mounted both the front and rear tires according to the directional arrow and climbing traction is just fine.

I'm running 28psi in the front and 30psi in the rear (138 pounds with all riding gear on).

    Strengths:Durable. Relatively light.
Weaknesses:Scary as finding grandma in the shower when ridden on loose-over-hardpack. Packs up with mud (but it's not intended as a mudder). Squirms hard if ridden at lower psi (we're talking below 32psi.... I'm 165 pounds).
    Similar Products Used:Everything pretty much
    Bike Setup:5.5" dualie.
Bottom Line:I made the mistake of buying the 2.1 when I should have purchased the 2.3. As a front tire this sucker squirms like a white guy at a James Brown concert. Knobs are too tall. It does work well in deep loam and pine needles which is pretty much what it's intended to do. Believe it or not the 2.1 rolls decently on pavement if you're unfortunate enough to ride to the trailhead. Right now it's spending a lot of time off the bike and when it goes on it's usually in the rear (that's what she said).

Weaknesses:Not the best tire for dry loose over conditions. Wash easily at high speed.
Similar Products Used:IRC, Specialized, Maxxis, Kenda, etc.
    Bike Setup:Custom Bianchi racing HT
Bottom Line:Just okay, not the best for Colorado Front Range trails. They slip a lot on dry loose over hardpack and gravel. Float okay in sand. Wash too easily at speed. Need taller and more side knobs for better cornering traction. Once the knobs start to wear down, the tire is shot. Hook up great on hardpack and rocks. They super suck in mud and slip on wet rocks and roots. Rolling resistance isn't too bad but noticable. I'll stick to Specialized Roll-X D2 Pros.

Completed a 24 hr race, solo as well and they handled well in wet & dry conditions. No problems to report. Hugs berms nicely, confidence booster especially. Still pushing the boundaries of what this tire can/cannot handle. Havent found anything yet. It picks up mud like any other tire but sheds it pretty quickly once you start moving pretty good I found. Mean looking tread design if anything. Overall 5 chilis from me.

Bottom Line:I have been running different tires for about 5 years now. I have to say that I always thought tires slipped out uncontrollably when washing out, and expected to lose traction on climbs. Yes, I had the correct air pressure and never over-inflated my tires. Finally I decided to pay attention to reviews on this site and look for a serious cross country tire. Here's where the Weirwolf comes in. I ran down to my LBS and picked this up along with my new wheelset.

WOW. First ride out I could tell that this was my new favorite tire. Let me note here that this is for the rear. I haven't put one on the front yet.

At speed this tire rolls along quite nicely and I haven't notice it holding me back at all. I never really understood people when they talked about a tire staying under control while washing out. Now I do. This thing just sort of floats out to the side and comes back on track smoothly and predictably. After about 3 months on this tire I have yet to get a flat but I do run tubes with Slime in them.

Climbing...ahhh climbing. This is whee the Weirwolf kicks a*s. I ride a hardtail and had constant slipping on climbs before this tire. Now, it's just amazing. This thing just grips and grips. My riding buddy even noticed on the first ride I had on it. I hear from behind me, "Man, that Weirwolf is hooking up!". My climbing has definitely improved thanks to this tire.

Weakness: Only weekness noticed is on slippery roots and steel pipes(I ride semi-urban trails).

If you ride dry, dusty trails or hardpack, with rocks, this tire is for you. Go get one and you can thank me later. Sickest tire every made.
