Favoriate Trail:any single track with variety
    Duration Product Used:6 months
    Price Paid: $25.00
    Purchased At:online
Strengths:Great price online, very solid and crisp feel in corners, responds very quickly.
    Weaknesses:none so far
    Similar Products Used:Mythos XC Front/Rear
Bike Setup:Iron Horse Sinister Bike, Hayes disc brakes, shifter/derailleur (Shimano V-Brake/Deore XT) and drive train upgrades
Bottom Line:Running the Wierwolf 26x2.3" on the front(Kenda Kinetic Stick-E rear); this tire is extremely crisp and responsive in both dirt/mud/gravel as well as hard surface; if you are looking for an inexpensive front tire that will perform, the Wierwolf is an excellent choice. Rolling resistance is what you would expect of a good mountain tire, best suited for flying over rough terrain and winding/climbing single track rides. 6 months of hard riding and virtually no visible wear, no pinch flats, usually inflate to around 35-40psi.

Bottom Line:Great grip with low roling resistance. When I was a rookie, starting my DH incursion I had two of these (yes 2.3) on my hartail. Coming from XC tyres it was crazy how they griped. Had more roling resitance but nothing compared to what I gained in grip!

Strengths:Great directional front tire for dry conditions. Hooks up well in the front on just about everything. Good braking. Wear well, so far they still look pretty much new.
Weaknesses:Roll slow. Clog up in the mud. Heavy for XC.
Similar Products Used:Nevegals, Cinders, Resolution Pros
    Bike Setup:Trek 4900, 2.3 Weirwolf front, 2.1 nevegal rear.
Bottom Line:Awesome front tire for dry conditions. Hook up great in all manner of loose and hard pack, rock, sand, etc... Great tire for loose downhills. 2.3" size is perfect for trail bike in the Wasatch where all summer I am on dry loose pack shared use trails that climb right up and descend right back down.

So far this is the most bomber tires I have. Used 6 months and they barely are showing wear. Aramid bead mounts up easy.

Make sure you run them the right direction, I ran the backwards accidentally for 2 weeks and the were pretty squirrelly, put them back the right way and the hook up was rock solid.

Not a mud tire. The closely spaced knob blocks work great in loose stuff, but clog up pretty bad in deep mud.

It is what it is, I would probably not need the gription and want something that rolls better on longer XC rides without serious downhill or if the trails I was on were more consistently hard packed dirt or muddy.

Strengths:Roll well, good feel in the corners on most surfaces. Easy to catch when they start to let go in corners. Hook up well on climbs and last well! Easy to fit and run true. Better than my Nevagals on loose surfaces. Good puncture resistance.
Weaknesses:Not as good as my other favorites on greasy/wet roots and rocks.

Duration Product Used:Less than 1 month
    Price Paid: $39.00
    Purchased At:Black Mountain Cycles
Strengths:Looks great, absorbes shock, quiet on pavement, inexpensive, good grip on straight climbs.
Weaknesses:Very loose on turns, extremely sloppy traction on loose dirt, gravel, and rocky descent. At times my bike slid three feet across trails almost sending me over the edge. Not a great feeling at 30 plus mph. My Kenda Nevegals would have held no problem.
Similar Products Used:Kenda Nevegal, Kenda Blue Groove, Kenda Karma.
    Bike Setup:Santa Cruz Superlight.
Bottom Line:Spend the extra cash for the Nevegals. I've raced and riden on Nevegals all year without disappointment. They are a great all around tire for any riding. I'll ride the Weirwolfs until they Weir-out, (only on my beater wheels), but will not but them again. I highly doubt Mark Weir would ever ride these tires and I'm surprised that he put his name on them.

    Strengths:-Great traction
-Quality (no sidewall damage even when tires getting bashed by rocks on rocky terrain)
    -Ability to run low pressures
Weaknesses:-This claw type tires are meant to claw into something. Try them on something really hard packed and the tire does seem squirely. Its because of the long treads.
Similar Products Used:Some Kenda cross country tire
    Bike Setup:Haro Shift F/S
Bottom Line:I travel quite a bit in all terrains and tried this tire per recommendation from my lbs. I really love the way it grabs. I am a bit nervous turning hard and fast with this tire on hard packed. But, in any other terrain, I rip through turns with confidence. It definately is not the fastest tire out there, but thats not what I want. I want a good grabbing tire that can climb and I can depend on.
I run 30 in the front and 35 in the rear.

    Favoriate Trail:Bootleg Canyon
Duration Product Used:Less than 1 month
Strengths:Awsome climbing traction on loose surfaces, gravel, roots and jagged rocks. Good lateral traction on sloped, jagged, exposed rock. Great braking traction in most conditions.
Weaknesses:The knobs are too high for the soft compound and these tires are VERY squrly on hard pack, sand, gravel and sand-on-pack. The tires are unpredictable in the corners on just about anything in the southwest but pete and pine bed and organic type soft soils. Flying down a loose fire road at even 20mph was just scary with these. They make the rear end feel very sloppy.

I wiped out today when the front tires washed out and cranked the handlebars. I was used to plowing around the same corner with WTB VelocirRaptors but this time it was a no-go so the bike went right and I went left. It would have made for a good laugh for anyone to see, but that was it for these tires.
Similar Products Used:WTB Velociraptors (better for Southwest region riding), Kenda Nevegals (also much better)
Bike Setup:Ironhorse MKIII, these tires came on the bike. They are the high end ones from WTB.
Bottom Line:I definitely won't be tossing these tires as they are well made, but definitely not for riding in AZ. I will probably be going for a Kenda Nevegal, Panaracer Rampage or Fire XC instead.

I'm giving these 3/5 since I know they work well in the right terrain, but where they do work well, others are still better. And again, they do have terrific slow-climbing, granny gear traction. It just comes down to what you want in your ride.

Strengths:Use the 2.3 in the front only (see my review for the 2.1). Great traction and control in any condition (especially loose technical descents under braking), good cushioning effect, tough sidewalls and durable tread.
Weaknesses:A tad heavy (740 grams) but I don't notice this at all when riding.
Similar Products Used:Kenda Nevegal, Panaracer Fire XC, Maxxis ADvantage, Specialized Roll X, Tioga Blue Dragon.
Bike Setup:'03 Santa Cruz Superlight with DT Swiss 4.1 rims, Weirwolf 2.3 in the front and 2.1 in the rear.
Bottom Line:Was using the 2.1 front and rear with fine results. Wanted a little more cushion and stick in the front and so I went with a 2.3 in the front. Excellent combo. Noticeably more compliant ride and with the smaller 2.1 in the back, the ride doesn't feel any slower at all.

I ride in So Cal which has a variety of dry conditions (loose over hard, some deeper powdery sections, lots of braking ruts) and I haven't noticed any sketchiness in these conditions that others have mentioned. I weigh 140 lbs and run 27 pounds in the front and 30 in the back and found these pressures to be in the sweet spot for me. Pinch flats are never an issue with these tires.

Strengths:Great Front tire. Works in lots of conditions. Best tire front I have used in conifer forest trails bar none. very predictable Drift in most conditions. Would buy again.
Weaknesses:Not a true 2.3 more like a 2.25. does not clear sticky mud well at all. Washes out with out much notice on Dry hard conditions were you have a light coating of pebbles
Similar Products Used:Maxxis Advantage, WTB Moto-Raptor, michelin wildgrippers
    Bike Setup:Turner 5 Spot
Bottom Line:If all you ride is mud and Lightly dusted trails look for a different tire. If you are a weight weenie use a different tire. If you do not fall into the those two categories then I can not recommend this tire enough as a front tire.

    Duration Product Used:3 months
    Price Paid: $20.00
Purchased At:Brand new from a guy who didn't want them
Strengths:They hold corners very well and it is a very grippy tire. The tread seems to hold up pretty well. I think that except for the problem I listed below, they are a decent tire. I got the pair for 20 bucks so i can't complain too much.
Weaknesses:I don't know if I got a bad batch or what, but the sidewalls have torn like paper on these tires. I've got 4 or 5 different holes the size of the tip of your finger in these suckers. I've not had this problem before on the trails I normally ride as the rocks out here aren't exceptionally sharp or anything. Oh well, I've patched them up and they're still rolling.... for now.
Similar Products Used:Specialized tires (ok), Kenda (really good tires), Continentals with thicker sidewalls are on the way.
Bike Setup:Surly 1x1 with scrounged up parts.
Bottom Line:I have ridden these things 2-3 times a week for about 4 months now. I've definitely put them through their paces. I don't know if it's just time to replace the tires from wear or tear, but the sidewalls (especially on the front tire) seem to be the thing that will go before the tread. A pretty decent tire for the price I paid. I don't know if I will run them again or not but I might consider it.

Strengths:Good as a front tire with good directional focus.
    Good stability on hard braking.
Can lean the bike over on fast corners even in the wet.
Weaknesses:The weight and especially the massive rolling resistance are awesome. The small lugs can squirm on hardpack. They really sap the strength.
Similar Products Used:Continental Vertical, Gravity & Survival. Panaracer Fire XC, WTB MotoRaptor, IRC Notos.
Bike Setup:Kona King Kikapu with a number of refinements.
Bottom Line:This tire gives a lot of grip and confidence especially on descents. I think it is best as a front tire.
The draw back is the rolling resistance. I don't know why it is but it makes you sweat like a good 'un on climbs that I had no problem with using other tires.
Bottom line is ....great for training but hard work for mixed riding.

Bottom Line:I rode the Fire XC for 5+ years and liked them but was looking for something with a little more grip. Based on the reviews here I gave a 2.1 a shot. I rode it in the back with the tread pattern backwards and was impressed. I bought a 2.3 on the strength of the good experience and now ride it in the back. The larger volume allows me to ride it soft and I have noticed a real gain in traction, still riding the rear with the tread reversed and now have the 2.1 in front. They appear to have given me what I was looking for, more grip, even with the 2.1. OF course its hard to make an apples to apples comparison between tires but I'm not going back to the Fire XC.

Mine has a wire bead in it and I think that the rubber is probably not as grippy as the FR with the DNA compound but I haven't found this tyre to give less than good grip on most surfaces. I have never pinch flatted these running them at 35psi (and I'm 220lbs, but do ride smooth and light), and I hope I never do because they are not the easiest tire to mount. Bottom Line:This review is for the 2.3 Team Freeride (FR) model. I've only used it once at the Downieville DH race (bought it specifically for this northern California course and run it front and rear). If you know this course you'll know why I needed the additional light weight sidewall reinforcement (inner peace system) that makes it the Team Freeride model. Lots of jagged, pointy rocks that can rip sidewalls and cause flats. You can also run lower PSI with fewer pinch flats. Even with the extra sidewall reinforcement and aggressive knobs this tire still weighs in at under 800 grams. The tread pattern did a great job in loose shale, loose silt, baby heads, and even down a narrow creek bed (loose shale) that contained about 2 inches of water...all at a medium-fast DH speed. It also comes with a dual-density rubber compound that combines great traction with a longer life than the super tacky "for racers only" tires that wear out in a heart beat. The ramped knobs and relatively low weight made it a pretty good climber. The Downieville DH course has a little bit of everything. It demands a versatile tire. Right now I can't find another semi-DH tire that combines traction, durability and a weight that can be pedaled up a few tough climbs better than the Weirwolf 2.3 Team Freeride model.

Strengths:Grips massively on all surfaces I have encountered so far. Contrary to another review I saw, mud flys right off these bad boys as soon as you give it a few clearing pumps, of course this could be because I have been riding in nice volcanic non clay mud.
Weaknesses:well I have nothing to compare them too, this is my first mt. bike that I have been really riding.
Similar Products Used:some old Panaracers on my buddies bike, and older BMX tires
