$12.00 | | Purchased At: | ebay auction | | Strengths: | Classic old school looks Strong | | Weaknesses: | Non-removable faceplate. | | Similar Products Used: | Too many to list | | Bike Setup: | Yeti A.R.C. | | Bottom Line: | The strongest, most whoop ass stem ever made. Sure, it's not as light as todays brands, but when it comes to strength, you can't skimp on certain parts: stem, handlebar, and seatpost. As much as I like the old school retro thing, the non-removable faceplate is a major pain. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

$75.00 | | Purchased At: | Bournemouth MTB Centre | | Strengths: | Beautifully welded Cro Mo quill stem from the master Ros Shafer. I've used this stem for 9 years, and it hasn't let me down once. I've recently put on an Ahead Stem for suspension forks, but will revert to rigid and put this bad boy back on! | | Weaknesses: | None | | Similar Products Used: | Trek Stems, Syncros, Azonic, 24/7 | | Bike Setup: | Trek 8500 (1991) with mainly old skool Deore XT etc...have now built it up as a fixy for my wife! | | Bottom Line: | If you get a chance to ride one of Ross Shafers stems, do it...you really won't regret it :) | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

$59.00 | | Purchased At: | its a secret, I may need another one someday | | Strengths: | The finish, the style, the strength, Made in USA by Salsa! | | Weaknesses: | Hard to find. | | Similar Products Used: | Salsa Al, Ibis, RF, Bontrager | | Bike Setup: | Breezer Lightning | | Bottom Line: | I finally found one! One of the old ones before the removable face. These are the most beautiful stems made. Sure they are a little heavy but they are really cool in that retro kind of way. The fit is perfect, and the logo is cool. The welds are as nice as the welds on my Breezer frame. I hope Salsa continues to make these. Sure, they are a little pricey but they are strong, fit great and have a great looking glossy black finish. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

from Kalmar, Sweden Date Reviewed: February 23, 1999 | | Bottom Line: | This stem (salsas aheadset stem) is among the most reliable stems there is. It holds your handlebar and it never comes loose. The weight is OK (who cares if it is 20 grams heavier then some). The looks are great, the Salsalogo-sticker doesn't come off. The price is even right, so there is only one grade to give it: 5 flamin' chilis!!!! | Overall Rating: |
