Favoriate Trail:Fly Wheel
Duration Product Used:2 Years
Purchased At:Cam with bike...
Strengths:Beefy looking stem. I like the truss design. I like how the bolts are long, more threads engaging. I would get another one, if I would ever have to. I have not had one problem with it. Stiff as hell! Nice, plain CNC job too.
Weaknesses:Can't say anything bad...
Similar Products Used:Race Face, Kore, Thompson, Planet X
Bike Setup:FUNN F/O bar,DH PIG headset,02 DJ2(5"),Frnt Avid Mech.,RR LX V's,DM24 rims,Race Face Prodigy DH cranks,Kolossal tires,Kuwahara 13" hardtail frame
Bottom Line:This is a product that I would suggest to my customers. I need to trust that my bike is capable. I trust my bike, every part of it. This isn't a lite use stem. If you ride hard, fast and need a stem that will hold up, get a Pazzaz stem.

Bottom Line:Good siff stem that works and doesnt take four hours to pay for looks high dollar. -1 point for the bolts on the steerer clamp.

Date Reviewed: March 26, 2001
Duration Product Used:6 months
Price Paid: $29.00
Purchased At:Helen's Cycles
Strengths:short, strong, great lookin, CHEAP
Weaknesses:i could only find a yellow color...
Similar Products Used:kalin (stock on wal mart bike), k2 stem that came with fork, advent suspension stem
Bike Setup:mrazek FX w/ sid XC, azonic DS2 w/ chubby soon to arrive
Bottom Line:great stem at a great price, but make sure you find one that fits your bike. The yellow one i bought was the only one they had and it fit my yellow mrazek perfectly, but i have my doubts as to its aesthetic value on the DS2... oh yeah, it won't ever break, although i haven't done any sort of riding that would warrant that yet... good for freeriders, downhillers, urban, etc., but if you're a XC'er then you might look for something lighter and longer. The stem tends to change the geometry of your bike, although you can just buy a layback seatpost to compensate.

Favoriate Trail:orchard trails
Duration Product Used:6 months
Strengths:Looks cool, stiff, doesnt slip, four bolt, cheap
Weaknesses:the bolts cut my left knee open a few times becase I am so tall and clumsy, thats about it
Similar Products Used:crappy specialized neck
Bike Setup:specialized, se rigid fork, bent and broken cheap a$$ parts, race face rizers.
Bottom Line:I jump alot and every thing on my bike has broken except for my fork, bars, and this neck so it must be pretty good. I give it the maximum rating for the stiffness, looks, and price. I would recomend it to anyone who jumps and falls hard but doesnt want to be impaled by their steerer tube or be ripped off by some hyped up corporate a$$holes (azonic, shorty's price is insane) or buy a new neck every month.

Broken Neck

Strengths:
Solid
4 bolts
Same as Shorty
Looks Good

You sometimes hit your knee on the two bolts that hold it tight on the steerer tube
Similar Products Used:

FSR, XTR/XT, X-Vert R, Michelin DH Tires, Sun Ringle RPM XXL Wheels
Bottom Line:This looks the exact same as the Shorty, but is 70 dollars cheaper. Buy it because it is strong, solid, looks good, and I promise you won't be disappointed. Powertools is a division of KHS.
