Duration Product Used: Less than 1 month
      Price Paid: $55
      Purchased At: jensonusa
      Strengths: look pretty
Weaknesses: they don't do their only job: hold the wheel on!
Similar Products Tried: stock shimano skewers
Bike Setup: ibis mojo, marzocchi AM1
Bottom Line: piss poor skewer...in fact i've never had to think about a skewer until i bought this product. i wanted to up the bling on my bike, get some sweet gold skewers. every ride, all throughout the ride the front skewer comes loose. this is super dangerous! what's the point of how cool something is if it can't do it's only job? i've read it's the cam design, and u need to grease it. great, add a stupid maintenance task to my everyday ride that i didn't need to do with my stock crappy shimano skewers. if you do any sort of aggressive riding, these will come loose. maybe if u tighten them to the point of insanity then they wont, but never had to do that with the shimanos. the price of bling is not worth it.

      FavoriteTrail: Ewok Forest
      Duration Product Used: 3 months
      Price Paid: $30
      Purchased At: Monk-a-moo and ebay
Strengths: Review of both wheel skewers and seatpost clamp. Big bling factor, all metal construction, easy to lock down properly, easy to grip (even with gloves on), easy to adjust.
Weaknesses: Can be pricey...need to shop around
Similar Products Tried: Bontrager OEM, Shimano Deore
Bike Setup: Modified '06 Gary Fisher Cake 2 DLX
Bottom Line: Getting Hope stuff in Canada can be expensive....but then again, what isn't? Shop around for a good price and they get full marks for value.

Alberta mud is nasty...shades of UK mud. I ride a lot too, so I didn't trust the *plastic* pieces on the stock Bontrager skewers. Looked at Salsa, but they are waaay to expensive locally. Hope (provided you don't try to grease them) have a good, solid reputation of doing well in the slop, so I thought I'd give them a try. The Skewers were easy drop in, easy to adjust and locked in securely.

Seatpost clamp was a joy too. My stock Bonty needed an allen key to adjust...not so with the Hopes.

In both cases, the product works well, is easy to adjust, holds securely and adds a little bling while doing so.

      Date Reviewed: 5/16/2006 7:46:32 AM
      Duration Product Used: 1 Year
      Price Paid: $30
      Purchased At: JensonUSA
Strengths: Works impeccably when used properly
Weaknesses: Doesn't work when used incorrectly
Bottom Line: OK, let's nip this in the bud. If you grease a brass fitting it won't hold, and it will just attract and hold dirt. So all of you who are greasing the mating surface are creating your own problems. They use a brass compression fitting so that you don't have to grease them. If you should get dirt inside the curved fittings, all you need to do is pull the lever away from the wheel and wipe the bearing surfaces with your finger, and it's good to go.
I've ridden these things through mud up to my axles and haven't had a single problem.

      Strengths: Pimpy looks, colours
Weaknesses: Don't work. Always move. Need constant regreasing.
      Similar Products Tried: Shimano,salsa
Bike Setup: Truth, ck hubs, thomson front and back, talas rlc, old hope mini's(fantastic)
Bottom Line: I find it astonishing these qr's get such good reviews. I have similar sentiments to previous poster. I'm so sick of these things. They have a fundamental flaw in design, they can't handle uk crap, the brass seat wears too easily. This is poor from a uk company. I've had a pair on two bikes and now they have all finally given up the ghost, the last one fell apart yesterday.
Shimano skewers on the otherhand just work and that's what I want from my bike.
Buy if you wan't nice mantlepiece objet dar't.

Duration Product Used: More than 3 years
Strengths: Look nice, not as nice as a Salsa.
Weaknesses: Metal to Metal interface poor design idea, required re-greasing in Scotland all the time (on both wheel and seat collar), I have a Rock Mountain seat collar which is amazing, Hope is junk compared. Yes they look nice and match Hope hubs, which are also poor compared to CK, Hadley.
Similar Products Tried: Deore, XT, Salsa etc.
Bike Setup: RM Switch with full XTR and carbon, Fox 36's DHx air or Coil depending on riding.
SC VP free with full SRAM X.0 and carbon, 5th rear shock (will be DHx soon) and Fox 40's, bolt thru dront and rear, so no skewers...... woo hoo, super stiff
Bottom Line: Good for their price, and look nice, a lot of people use in the UK, and lots have issues due to materials used and climate. Not the best, but OK for price! If I did not use Hope hubs and brakes on my RM then I would not use these skewers.

      Strengths: Smooooooth! Pretty! I like!
Weaknesses: Doesn't match color of my eyes (boohoo)
Similar Products Tried: Brand Generic Seat Collar Quick Release, with built in grit and M.A.D. Function (Midtrail Auto Disengage)
Bike Setup: Turner 5Spot with wheels and stuff - goes fast, makes squirrels pee themselves
Bottom Line: This is a follow up to my review of the Hope wheel skewers, this time we're talking about the seat collar quick release. The skewers are soooooo pretty, but I can't see them when I'm riding which makes me sad. So I got the Hope quick release for my seat!

Now when I'm riding I can just look down between my legs and see my shiny new Hope with the bulbous knob on the end! And when I stop I can flip it back, and forth, and back, and forth, and back, and forth - ahhh that feels good!

More chilis for Hope! And a Fat Tire Ale to wash em down!

      Price Paid: $35
      Purchased At: Jenson
Strengths: Smooth, precise, exudes quality of manufacture, nice looking.
Weaknesses: Maybe a wee bit heavier than Salsa or XT. A wee bit. Wee.
Similar Products Tried: Salsa, XT, Ellsworth
Bike Setup: Fancy pants high end trailbike
Bottom Line: Superior in every way to Salsa. Cam action is super smooth, even after covered with grit. Cross shaped nut is much more finger-in-the-dropout friendly than Salsa's single bar shape. Rear skewer allows removal and replacement of the rear wheel without a single backward turn of the nut - as it should be. Up front you still have to deal with lawyer tabs, but here the cross-shaped nut makes short work of the extra turns, and allows for very precise adjustment when it's time to fasten everything back up.

Let's face it, though - T works really well at half the price or less. So you're paying for the jewel factor - and the Hopes deliver. A beautiful finishing touch for any beautiful bike.

Hope's QR seatpost clamp works just as well, BTW.

Strengths: Color is tight! The blue matches the adjusters on Fox Forx, the action and build quality is second to none.
Weaknesses: There is none, it's a skewer and you'd pay at least half the price for some no name junk.
Similar Products Tried: Shimano, Salsa, Supergo no names...
      Bike Setup: FS all mountain
Bottom Line: If you like nice parts that are built excellent, this is for you. Truely a work of art in in materials, fit and function. Hope sells a matching seat QR that is equal in quility to these skewers.

Strengths: Little pieces of metal sculpture - and they work too!
Weaknesses: I keep stopping on the trail to get off and look at my skewers - they're soooooo pretty!
Similar Products Tried: Salsa, Rolf, shish kabob skewers (attracted too many ants)
Bike Setup: 4" lift, 35" BFG's, front solid axle conversion. . .uh, wait that's my truck. Oh yeah, bike: two wheels, two pedals, seat, handle bars.
Bottom Line: For $35 a pair, even if these things failed miserably I'd still love them - they just look sooooo pretty! But sadly, they do work very well, no loosening on the trail, no problems of any kind. I'm afraid I will have to like them for their functionality first (but they're sooooo pretty!) I could use them to skewer these 5 chilis I gave them too - Hope Chili Kabobs! Will need a beer to go with that. Is there a review category here for beer?

Strengths: Clearly superior construction versus everything else out there. The brass bushing is a strong argument, as are the toothed steel rings on the end nuts. Combined with the ridges on the lever side, this QR really bites into the frame. It's not going anywhere. So much better than Salsa at the same price. I thought the lever would be much less ergonomic than it is from looking at it, I was pleasantly surprised.
Weaknesses: People are gripping about price, but these are competitively priced with other products of inferior quality.
Similar Products Tried: Shimano XT, XTR (held just as well but not as sexy), salsa, mavic
Bike Setup: Turner 5 Spot with Z1 FR QR20 and assorted goodies.
Bottom Line: Best QR on the market. I and the other employees at my shop ride them and wholeheartedly recommend them to our high end customers. If you're building up a new custom bike, you are doing yourself a disservice by using any other QR.

Similar Products Tried: Richley, Shimano, Specialized
Bike Setup: Specialized M5 with lots of shiny bits on.
Bottom Line: Very nice, look good, hold your wheel on your bike (which is more than can be said for the others I've used which I had to do up so tight to stop the wheel moving on a hard ascent that I needed a screedriver to prise them off). Match the other hope bits on my bike.

Normally too expensive for my tastes, but you can certainly recognise the quality (there is a fella on EBay always selling these cheaper than every bike shop i've seen). I don't have a weight on them, but I couldn't believe the difference between them and my old steel Deore skewers. I wouldn't be surprised if they were more than 1/4 pound lighter!

I got mine used in Marketplace, so I don't know what they'd cost new. But I haven't seen any titanium skewers any cheaper, so I'll give five flaming dung heaps all the way around...
