      FavoriteTrail: chimney rock
Duration Product Used: More than 3 years
Strengths: light, industrial-minimalist look, clamps down adequately
Weaknesses: digs into ungloved fingers when being removed or tightened
Similar Products Tried: shimano, paul components
Bike Setup: Cannondale 2.8 w/ marzocchi atom bomb, XT brakes, crank, derrails., mavic 230 w/ nukeproof carbon hubs, WS 15/14 spks., raceface bar, ringle post, flite, dean stem grip shift, time carbon, specialized team master/control, damage control ring, ride on cables.
Bottom Line: The skewers do a good job of clamping down on the drop outs, they also have a very unique look due to their minimalist design. They in no way scream out for attention like some other manufacturers' stuff. (That's not necessarily a bad thing, it's just different.) The front is a little tricky to tighten on to my atom bomb fork, or any suspension fork for that matter. Also the really narrow levers dig into my fingers whenever I need to remove or tighten them. However the price is better than any other titanium skewers out there, therefore they are worth the money.

      Duration Product Used: 2 Years
Bike Setup: Huffy 15 speed with sunrace and falcon components, hi-ten steel frame, steel rims and one piece cranks (YEAH!)
Bottom Line: Good skewers. They really tighten up well for twisties. I have to agree that they should have kept suspension forks in mind when they designed 'em. Me? I got creative and bent it out just enough to clear. Four because of that.

Submitted by Matthew a Cross-Country Rider from Ottawa, Ontario
      Date Reviewed: 6/2/1999
Duration Product Used: less than 1 month
Strengths: Very light, elegent design, trick lookin'
      Weaknesses: Expensive
Bike Setup: Eclipse Custom Ti, full XT with XTR rear derailleur, GripShift Plasma shifters and RockShox Judy 100
Bottom Line: A very nice, but hardly essential, addition to my custom titanium bike. I probably wouldn't have bought them for myself because of the price (they were a gift), but I absolutely love them now that I have them! VERY easy to use... if you can't figure them out, you probably shouldn't be riding a bike.

Bottom Line: I just put bought a new wheel set (mavic 217 rims and Nuke proof bombshell hubs) and put the Nuke Proof Titanium Skewers on. They are extremely like and work great. YOu might think they loosen up or catch stuff but they don't. AWSOME

      Date Reviewed: 3/16/1997
Bottom Line: THESE SKEWERS ARE VERY TRICK LOOKING AND ARE RELATIVELY CHEAP. THEY HOWEVER ARE DESIGNED WITH FASHION IN MIND. WHEN YOU BEGIN TO TIGHTEN THE FRONT ONE YOU WILL SOON REALIZE THAT THE LEVER SMACKS RIGHT IN TO THE FORK LEG. THIS IS AN INCREDIBLE PAIN IN THE ASS. THEY ARE COOL FOR ROAD BIKES, BUT NOT FOR MTB'S.

      Date Reviewed: 12/11/1996
Bottom Line: These skewers are light, easy to use and look great, especially with a titanium bike! Well worth the $49.

      Date Reviewed: 8/27/1996
Bottom Line: These dudes are light, trick, look good - and hard to use. Cinching them down is a two-handed operation when used with the Judy SL. Likewise, when taking the tire off. A little friction tape on the nut end helps. So does grease. Be sure to cut off excess length and file the end - can be like the hubs on James Bond's Aston Martin if left sharp. Overall, nice minimalist touch and light weight outdistance ease of use.
