Description:Fanging it down the firebreak, scything through the traffic or doing the post-race lounging thing. These hard wearing shorts are outrageously large yet really work when you're caning it on the singletrack. Big enough for two, and nice 'n' breezy on those intolerably hot days.

Favoriate Trail:away from traffic
Duration Product Used:3 months
Price Paid: $60.00
Purchased At:Groundeffect
Strengths:Well made and I like the look of them. Also see the other reviews. Groundeffect are easy and reliable folks to deal with. Order on Monday and by Friday you've got the goods (i'm in Tasmania, Australia). They work well on the bike without looking too serious in lycra.
Weaknesses:None. They're just a bloody good pair of shorts.
Similar Products Used:Many other shorts, don't know brands. Got Groundeffects' Montezumas as well, both often don't bother with them unless it's really cold, and certainly wouldn't wear them casually!
Bike Setup:Giant Yukon 07, and road bike GT Z-3000
Bottom Line:Best shorts I have owned full stop. I wear them to work often and wear them on rides as well. So that's what I consider value for money. I'm going to buy another pair in black for the summer, I think.

Favoriate Trail:Collins St
Duration Product Used:6 months
Price Paid: $60.00
Purchased At:groundeffect.co.nz
Strengths:Unbreakable! I got hit by a car recently while riding in the city, skidded a long way over the asphalt. Calves badly grazed, backpack shredded, bike written off- but my thighs were fine (apart from bruising). They're still going as strong as ever.
They also dry superfast, so if you're caught in a shower, you'll dry off in no time, no need to bring a change of clothes.
Weaknesses:Not enough sizes- I'm stuck somewhere between a small and a medium.
Similar Products Used:None.
Bike Setup:2006 Cannondale F400 with SRAM 9 V brakes
Bottom Line:These things are comfy as, I wear them everyday, whether I'm riding or not. If you want some casual shorts for riding, these are the bomb.

Favoriate Trail:Still Searching
Duration Product Used:Less than 1 month
Price Paid: $60.00
Purchased At:Ground Effect direct
Strengths:These things are the Charles Bronson of bike baggies. Tough as old nails, understated, uncomplicated. The side waist tabs work like quick releases; perfect if you need to drop 'em in a hurry or for on-the-fly for adjustments. The fabric looks like sail-grade canvas but softens over time.
Weaknesses:Fine on thier own for commutes and two hour rides, but slip into some lycra first for anything epic or wet as they will chafe around the cuffs.
Similar Products Used:Nema Crown Jewels.
Bottom Line:Baggies with liners are great for riding but will cook your boys if you leave them on all day - nothing worse than stewing in your own juices! These are the PERFECT knock-about-short.

Favoriate Trail:anything down
Duration Product Used:6 months
Price Paid: $35.00
Purchased At:gound effect (nz)
Strengths:tough,super tough
Weaknesses:the little buckle thingies on the legs - cut them off, fixed
Similar Products Used:shorts
Bike Setup:fun bike - betty bullit, everything else bike - neville NRS
Bottom Line:These super baggy shorts are awesome, deep pockets, zippers and very very tough (survived lots of forced dismounts) and they are comfy. My only issue with these shorts is the buckle on the legs, however cut, cut buckles gone, now they are even better than they were before...
