Strengths:
Fairly lightweight and strong. Great seat angle adjustment for those of us with irregular frame geometry.
Weaknesses:
It finally bent.
Similar Products Used:
Stock post and Giant 30.8 aluminium post.
Bike Setup:
Giant AC-1 frame. Old original Judy front fork off my old Warp DS-1 (I broke 4 but the fork has survived) with heavy duty springs. (I weigh 230-240 lbs) XT all around the drive train. Sachs 40 chain. Original aluminum Avid Rollamajig. Hayes mechanical MX-2 disc brakes with Avid 5.0 Speed Dial levers. 6" front rotor (warranty is my friend) and 8" rear rotor. Avid Flak Jacket cable system. Oury DH grips which work nice for my big hands. Fizik (Giro) Atlas seat. SH 858 pedals (they work for me). Blackspire Big Ring Protector. Twister Pro on the front and WTB Tyranno Raptor paddled for traction on the back. Bike built for punishment not beauty!!!
Bottom Line:
This was a great seatpost. With my regular riding weight @ 230-240 lbs (depending when in the season) this post took a great deal of stress. It started its life on a Giant Warp DS-1 frame which subjected it to some major latitudinal stresses as a result of the frame geometry and my butt always being on the seat as a result of full-suspension. It survived breaking four DS-1 frames and it was on my present AC-1 frame that it finally deformed too much to keep. I replaced it with a Giant 30.8 seatpost not because I didn't like the Axiom post but because I got the Giant post on eBay for $10 shipping in and weight means very little to me!
