I tried a month a San Marco Aero Gelaround but was a fake and had to sell it to a friend who still find it confortable. A wonderfull bicycle. | | Bottom Line: | I honestly have to say this is the most confortable saddle I have ever had in 10 years ridding mountain bike in the area of Zaragoza, Spain, almost a dessert. When I rode my old San Marco Aero every sunday morning, the first feeling I had in my butt when I first sit down was pain over the bones and to know for certain than in 20 minutes the pain will be off for the next two hour when it always came back. Over four hours ridding, blisters. When I sat on my WTB Laser V for the very first time I thought "Oh, too soft". But after three hours ridding it was still confortable and my bottom was smiling happy. You know, in the place you lean your bones there are three designed areas softer than the saddle structure itself, and when you go down jumping over the stones, holes and so, the saddle absorb everything and you don´t have the feeling that a rock stikes directy on your butt, without a lack of control over your bike. This is a great saddle! I commute for Queens to the Westside of Manhattan and finally I don’t have butt pain. My terry Liberator saddle was light but man it felt like someone was kicking me in the ass, for an hour straight. The Laser V ProGel is super comfortable, and my butt doesn’t hurt after, no chafing either. It is tiny bit heavier then my terry saddle but its well worth it. I highly recommend this saddle.

I really liked the upgrade from the terry, much cushier and I just liked the fit. But I was on a bumpy downhill section of the Colorado Trail and the saddle came off of the rails when I was holding it between my knees. I stopped and was able to get the rails back into the saddle and I figured it was just some kind of strange fluke. Then last weekend I was riding in town and was hopping over a curb and I landed funny, the rail on the left side snapped. I'm a clyde, (225lbs) but my old Speed V took tons more abuse than this one did, so I bought a new Speed V.

It really takes the "sting" out of hits so much so that I've ditched my suspension seatpost. My only gripe with it is the durability of the leather covering- after a particularly hazardous ride in Aliso-Woods Canyon, I noticed the side-covering had been shredded pretty badly. However, this happened half a year ago, and it hasn't deteriorated any worse (unlike my old Specialized saddle that progressively fell apart), so I my overall rating of is still really high. A couple of weeks ago I bailed backwards on a steep ascent, When I fell the Ti seat rail came out of it's housing. I e-mailed WTB and I shipped it in for repair and they fixed it for free including shipping and had it back to me in less than a week. At one point I bought one of those ridiculous oversized Gel seats to stop my butt from aching every ride. The saddle seems ergonomically correct, very comfortable and wearing well. It came stock but based on the prices I have seen, I would give it serious consideration before going to another. $90.00 | | Purchased At: | Supergo | | Bottom Line: | Using the words "comfort" and "bicycle saddle" in the same sentence makes little sense, since it's more a matter of does a saddle hurt less than other saddles. With the Laser V, the answer definately is yes.
This is my third WTB saddle. The Terry Fly saddle looked good to me, but I really like the drop nose on my other WTB saddles, so decided to stick with them and give the Laser V a try.
The slot and a softer seat area makes it more comfortable than my SST 98. It certainly could have more of a strategic cutout further up the snout, since I still sense some pressure there, but not nearly as much as the SST 98 or with my old SST saddles. I can definately take longer rides with much less discomfort.
It's really a very good saddle. The quality of the construction, quality materials (high quality leather, titanium rails) and weight really put it a step above the other "ergonomic" saddles I've looked at. The drop nose is especially good when shifting from sitting to standing and back. WTB really should have been a bit more radical with the slot area to give it a top rating.
