So I hope I dont blow it up soon! but with Marzocchi's history of longevity and quality design I have gone with the ROCO. Plus some other cooments. I like the fact that its plush and has no platform damping. The best feature of the shock is the 2 speed rebound damping. Its mega slow returning from full or near bottom outs, but fast and suple returning from small trail bumbs - something I'm sure Marzocchi leant how to achieve from their MX history. The problem is that sometimes the slow speed rebound doesn't dis-engage during medium size hits. This can make it pack down a bit and occasionally feel harsh. Overall, I love it. Its not perfect, but for me its closer than anything else at the moment | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

$200.00 | | Purchased At: | Co Sponsoring | | Strengths: | Durability, Looks, Performance, Easy to Dial in | | Weaknesses: | Feels a bit underdamped in the first third of its travel, kinda heavy | | Similar Products Used: | 5th Element, Swinger 6 Way, 4 Way, DHX 5.0 | | Bike Setup: | VP Free, 66 rc´s, Gustav m, hope pro, truvativ parts | | Bottom Line: | This is another review from the Roco. I already posted a couple of months ago. This shock is still awesome no leaks or performance loss. I spent 4 weeks in Whistler this year with up to 8 hours of riding every day. This shock didn´t let me down. I blew the DU bushings, no prob to replace em. But compared to the 5th element i miss a low speed compression adjustment. It´s simply underdamped in low speed compression, also the rebound is not easy to dial, a half turn more is too much, a half turn less is not enough. For real hard DH i prefer the 5th element it´s better to dial, it simply gives you better control, as it doesn´t rush trough the travel like the ROCO. I switched to the 5th a couple of times and was surprised about the good feeling on jumps and very fast sections. The faster you go i would go for the 5th. For tight technical the ROCO works better. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

$309.00 | | Purchased At: | go-ride | | Strengths: | Smoooooth! Effective compression, rebound, bottom out controls. Looks tuff! Change the oil YOURSELF!!! Compatible with any spring! Very controlled over the hits and bumps! Works quite well with single pivot/falling rate frames! | | Weaknesses: | None so far. | | Similar Products Used: | 5th Element & Fox | | Bike Setup: | Bullit with 05 66 and Heckler with 05 Z1 | | Bottom Line: | I bought this shock against the "mtbr advice" that it wouldn't work well on single pivot/falling rate frame. GOt one for the Bullit and it pedals as good as the 5th! Just get your spring rate right. Mine is not over sprung either...I run 28% sag. The adjustments work VERY WELL! Put more air in the piggyback and it has a more progressive stroke. The shock is simple and very effective. I've jumped and hucked it and it performs as well as Marzocchi forks do! I'm sold on the damping! So I bought one for the Heckler too.
The Heckler was a bigger risk b/c it needs to pedal better than the Bullit. Once I got the right spring rate- it was perfect! I jumped off 3-4 ft dock to flat and it didn't even come close to bottoming. Can't say that for the 5th. Took it out to Pisgah and it climbed like a dream-hard to explain, but it is active- not "bobbing". It has a very controlled damping quality that doesn't hinder climbing performance. I admit, my 5th made the Heckler feel like a HT on climbs- the Roco does not. But, once you get the feel of an active rear suspension, you may never go back! The traction is much better! And surprised that I climb just as well- but I'm no XC racer guy no the first place...if you are, maybe you want a different shock. But for the rest of us, it's the smoothest, most controlled, and simplest shock you could ask for! LOVE IT! | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

Even without pedal platform its not bobbing in a vp free. Looks cool on a black frame. I think its indestructible, Marzocchi did a great job. | | Weaknesses: | None | | Similar Products Used: | 5Th element - very effective platform, great adjustability 6 Way - same Fox DHX 5.0 - a bit better on small bumps all good shocks - every shock has some strengths and weaknesses If your 5th or 6 way feels harsh try a lighter spring, 50Lbs less can make a much better feeling!! | | Bike Setup: | VP Free, 66RC, XT drivetrain, RF Evolve DH X-Type, Ringle Hubs ´n Rims, Gustav M, MARZOCCHI ROCO | | Bottom Line: | The ROCO gives my bike the ultimate DH feelings, i´ve tried all of the newer shocks, on several bikes. But the ROCO is the best, not by far, but it makes a difference. Its pedals well, and on the downhill its amazing. Can´t imagine a better Freeride/DH shock. It feels very lively, you can see the shock working when riding over gravel. It´s far better than older non platform shocks like Vanilla. There was no bottom out control. It seems very durable, without all this platform *clunk* *clunk* stuff. It weighs a bit more than the 5th,6 Way.
