    Favoriate Trail:Fun Run (plattekill)
    Duration Product Used:1 Year
    Purchased At:Windham Mountain Outfitters
Strengths:kinda light a couple easy ajustments
Weaknesses:feels bad not enought ajustments for my weight, and the air valve sticks out about an inch so you tend to hit your knee in it a fewtimes(really hurts)
    Bike Setup:cannondale prophet mx 2
Bottom Line:good shock, not very pricy, although its fairly new to the market it can use a few more tweaks to the design, otherwise great buy for someone who wants an easy shock to set up, for little money

Strengths:EVERYTHING! This shock will change your bike! Incredibly tunable with Set & Forget! Waaaay better than SPV! for All-Mtn-Trails you can't beat it! Bar None including DHX! If, U like Ripping trails, Hucking, Climbing, etc., THIS is your Shock!
Weaknesses:NONE! The previous reviewer is obviuosly, NOT clued-in on the Motion-Control adjustment! If, he had his bike shop adjust the shock, as I did, he'd be in shock-heaven as I am!
Similar Products Used:Closest thing would be the DHX...Check the reviewer's statement about it below who owns a TURNER 5-SPOT!

Bottom Line:This is my 2nd review of this shock...i made my 1st over a year ago! This Shock is the "BOMB!"...Period!

    Date Reviewed: April 17, 2007
Duration Product Used:Less than 1 month
    Purchased At:came on frame
Strengths:-super easy to set up and adjust
    -effective adjustments
-very linear through all of stroke
-can be set for efficient climbing or plush descending
Weaknesses:-must constantly adjust to get best performance
-must compromise between pedaling efficiency and plushness
    -floodgate knob comes off easily
Similar Products Used:-Manitou Swinger 4 way air (great product, takes a while to figure out how you want it, but when you got it, its great - set it and forget it)
-Cane Creek Cloud 9 (light and efficient, typical very progressive air shock - sticky at first, then blows through middle of stroke and firms up at end)
-Fox vanilla R (very plush, very active)
Bike Setup:The pearl 3.1 came on a 2006 KHS AM 1000 frame (4, 5 or 6 inch walking beam/faux 4 bar). I run 25% sag (around 55 psi), 6 clicks in on the floodgate for extended climbs (which eliminates pedal induced bob while seated, but does allow some movement when stomping out of the saddle), then back the floodgate all out for descents. On varied terrain like riverside rollers, I turn the floodgate in 2-4 clicks (which does not suppress PIB, nor is it as plush over the rough stuff as I would like).
Bottom Line:On the very first ride, while backing out the gold flood gate knob, the c-clip holding the knob on popped off, making the shock lock out. Take care when backing the adjuster out, it did not take much effort to make it come off. Otherwise this shock can be set up to feel pretty good and it works reasonably well.
Unfortunately this is not a set and forget piece of kit. Its best suited for rides where you take a break from riding at the top after an extended climb and again at the bottom following a long descent. The problem is when riding varied terrain like riverside trails; you can’t have it plush for over the rocky sections and efficient for the climbs at the same time like a stable platform shock. This shock makes you compromise. I don’t know the mechanism of how the motion control works, but it seems that it controls the sensitivity of the shock to compression.
I have ridden the swinger 4 way air for two years on a faux 4 bar frame and I like it much more than the Pearl, so much so I plan on purchasing a swinger 4 way for this frame with in the year. For this type of frame design the Pearl 3.1 is good but not great.

Strengths:Easy to set up. Exceelent performance. Motion Control damping easily better than SPV on Manitou Swinger. Shock body is biggger than Swinger so make sure it'll fit your frame before you buy (I was LUCKY!!!)
    Weaknesses:None so far

Bottom Line:Bought this shock to improve the ride of my Enduro. What a difference. No more pedal bob and it climbs anything I point it at. This shock soaks up the downhills too. The motion control works great, set it and forget it. Although the eye-to-eye is a little longer than stock, I find it doesn't matter. This is the best upgrade for an Enduro. The perfect companion for my Revelation. I wish I bought it earlier.

Bottom Line:This is a follow up review to my earlier review. I love this shock. The only complaint I have is the rebound damping. Luckily for me, max damping is perfect for me, but if I wanted more, there wouldn't be any for me. I am 5'-11" and wiegh about 190 lbs. Very happy with this purchase.

    Bike Setup:Weyless 67
Bottom Line:Only bad thing so far is that you cant service it yourself but not a problem so far. It works better than the 6-way and I hope it lasts longer cause the 6-way only lasted some 30 rides. Its plusher than the 6-way when you turn off the anti-bob function!

Bottom Line:I bought this shock to save some weight, and gain performace over the X-Fusion Glyde R. So far it has been perfect. The floodgate adjustment adjustment is very similar to Marzocchi's TST adjustment on my All Mountain SL. It progressively makes the shock stiffer the more you open it. A few turns and it's locked out. Good for climbing and eliminating pedal bob. However on my single pivot suspension, pedal bob really isn't a problem as long as I'm in the saddle. I only get it when I stand up and pedal. But not when the shock is locked out! I only give it 4 chilis since I've only ridden it 4 times. I'll review again at the end of the summer.

Bottom Line:Does exactly what it says on the tin !!!. I couldn't find a review on here for this shock prior to buying so i just bit the bullet and bought one anyway,i'm confident i made a good choice,i was going to go for a Fox RP3 but bought this because it was £130 cheaper,on paper they've got the same sort of specs. My prophet 800 came with a Manitou Radium R with some sort of platform damping but it felt a bit like stiction even though it mostly stopped bobbing on the road, platform unadjustable though.Put the Rockshox on and it transformed the bike, very plush, just set your sag,set rebound how you like it then just ride along the road bobbing slightly then turn the motion adjuster clck by click until the bobbing stops, simple,go over a bump though and the shock compresses then goes still again, works a treat. There's 58 clicks for rebound and 28 for motion control so there should be enough adjustment for everyone, the motion control will go from none at all to fully locked.I'm 15,1/2 stone.Air pressure 87 pounds, rebound 38 from fully off, motion 10 from fully off or none at all for proper road.
