$375.00 | | Purchased At: | S-Tec sports Germany | | Strengths: | Durable, Light, Easy to adjust, smooth and good looking. Made in Swiss. Mounting lugs(bearings). | | Weaknesses: | Optional- and spareparts expensive (Remote control and bushings). | | Similar Products Used: | Manitou SPV 2004. | | Bike Setup: | Rockshox Revelation, Magura Louise, Shimano XT drive train, Titec and Thomson. | | Bottom Line: | I had this shock for a few years. And it works always perfect. It is smooth and easy to set up. The worse part is that my frame cracked and that my shock doesn't fit in my new frame (different size). The new frame came with a new Fox RP23 shock (also not bad I think). And now i will miss the remote control! | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

$250.00 | | Purchased At: | wiggle | | Strengths: | lock out is very sold, no bouncing feels like a hardtail. reboud adjust can be adjusted for ever (it seems) | | Weaknesses: | fitting,
I had to saw then file the oversize bushes, that i paid 14 quid for, trhis is a pain especially if you dont have suitable file for alloys | | Similar Products Used: | DNM coil bounce monkey shock | | Bike Setup: | Scott G-zero FX2, marzochie 2004 marathons (120mm) | | Bottom Line: | its so smooth you think its not working, when doing bigger hits its it might bottom out, but i still need to fiddel with the pressure rebound etc.. for best XC and down hill combo | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

$400.00 | | Purchased At: | local shop | | Strengths: | - weight - easy set-up - plushness - lock-out - bearings | | Weaknesses: | price | | Similar Products Used: | Rox Shocks SID Ajust (first modelyear) | | Bike Setup: | Scott G-Zero with Rox Shocks SID XC 80 mm up front and the DT 210 152 mm at the back. | | Bottom Line: | The DT Swiss 210 rear shock just turns my old Scott G-Zero into a new bike. It's the first G-Zero from 1999 and it rides really nice, but the SID at the back has always been an annoyance. Finding the right set-up is extremely difficult and time consuming. Besides this, it is impossible to keep it from bobbing when pedaling long uphils on asphalt roads. No problem with DT Swiss 210. The lock-out works splendid and opens when needed. And without the lock-out on off-road climbs or decents, the rear end of the G-Zero feels really more lively and comfortable than with the SID. Rode it in Belgium and recently on some really long and rocky trails in Italy. Thumbs up for this schock! Four and not five chili's due to the high price. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

from South Wales, UK Date Reviewed: May 27, 2004 | | Favorite Trail: | Skyline, | | Duration Product Used: | 3 months | | Purchased At: | Supplied with bike | | Strengths: | Light, good looking, spherical bearings, good seals, highly tunable | | Weaknesses: | Seals are tight initially making the shock very slow for the first few rides (but this bodes well for longevity) | | Similar Products Used: | Fox Float RL | | Bike Setup: | Nicolai Helius CC | | Bottom Line: | Cant fault this shock so far. I was initially a bit dubious because Fox seem to have the rear shock market so well sown up but this is easily the equal of the Float i've used in the past. Small bump response is good (meant to be the big disadvantage with fancy stable platform shocks).
Spherical bearings at the pivots should mean much lower maintainance than the bushings used by Fox (i used to go through a set in no time).
The range of adjustability on rebound is huge and a bit of fiddling is needed as the seals loosen up and the shock gets quicker.
Finally the lockout seems to work really well. On the Float there was a strange amount of 'bounce' which rendered it pretty useless. The lockout on this actually turns the bike into a hardtail and i've started using it a lot on road climbs. The blow off works well too - i've thrown myself down a hill with it on and the shock becomes active when needed.
Price when included with the Nicolai is keen and i've only held off the 5th overall chilli as it's a bit early to talk about longevity. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

$349.00 | | Purchased At: | www.starbike.com | | Strengths: | Light, smooth, very good finish, effective lockout with blow-off, ball-bearings in pivot points (no more lateral stress on you shock due to frame flex or incorrect alignment) | | Weaknesses: | NONE!!! | | Similar Products Used: | Rock Sucks SID XD Adjust | | Bike Setup: | Cube Airwing Blackline Custom build, Fox Float 100RLC, XTR, Chris King ISO disc, Sapim CX-ray, DT XR4.1d, XT 4-pot disc, Lots of Tune parts, Thomson seat and post and lots of other cool and light stuff. | | Bottom Line: | A very very very very good shock! My frame came with a Rock Sucks SID XC Adjust and was a pain in the ass to set up proper. The bushings wore out very quick and there was a lot of moving around setting it up proper due to the seperate + and - chamber. Now, with the SSD210L shock the bike feels like new! Very easy to set up, reliable due to ball-bearings in the pivot points and a much nicer finish! The lock-out works superb and has a blow off to prevent damage from hard hits. Now the rear suspension feels just as nice as the Fox Float 100RLC up front! | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

from UK Date Reviewed: April 13, 2003 | | Duration Product Used: | 1 Year | | Strengths: | The 3 best things about this shock are tunability, the ball-joint eyelets and the plushness. I'm runing it at much lower PSi than my Float RL and it feels so much more lively. The massive adjustment range on the rebound is also v.good, and the lok-out is v.positive and takes quite some force to un-lok it. The ball joints are ingenious yet simple - super smooth and negate frame/swingarm mis-alignment. | | Weaknesses: | Durability - I have suffered air loss problems, a loose ball-joint and air in the oil chamber. Yes they have been sorted out, and you could argue it is DT's first attempt at a rear shock but all the problems are quite elementary and should have been check prior to shipping etc. | | Similar Products Used: | Float RL | | Bike Setup: | Scott Strike | | Bottom Line: | This is a good shock IF everyhting works right. Hopefully DT will pick up on problems and make running changes and improve quality assurance. I always read that the DT Hugi hubs are good but do suffer from being too delicate and have reliability problems - I hope it won't be the same story with the rear shock... I'm giving the shock 4/5 because when everyhting is good it works v.well, and my problems have been fixed BUT ultimately the problems stop me from scorring it 5/5 | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

from Reno, NV USA Date Reviewed: March 5, 2003 | | Favorite Trail: | tahoe rim trail | | Duration Product Used: | Less than 1 month | | Strengths: | I bought this shock as an update for my xc dually. The installation was easy and set up was simple with the sag ring. The shock increased he plushness of the ride, made the bike feel livelier in hard pedalling and climbed without any suspension bob. The rebound adjuster is easy to set and the lock-out is easy to switch. The shock is typical DT quality with sealed bearings at the eyelets and machined spacer bushings with rubber seals to fit your frame dimentions. my shock was 165mm set up for 9mm of sag. I ended up with about 148 lbs inflation for my 200 lb weight. What i really like best about this shock is that with a 3" rear travel, the bike no longer bounces out of full compression. | | Weaknesses: | Cost, availability perhaps, | | Similar Products Used: | Cane Creek AD12, Fox Float | | Bike Setup: | 02 w/xtr and UST | | Bottom Line: | worked well with Horst linkage. I couldn't help posting after just the initial 2 hour test ride but it made the bike handle great and the ride so enjoyable, I just had to give some praise. Buy this if you couldn't find the ride you wanted with any of the other air shocks out there. Plenty of adjustability to go from stiff to plush. Plush in my case was still plenty stiff when climbing. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |
