Submitted by Chris Bell a Weekend Warrior from Leeds, West Yorkshire, UK
      Date Reviewed: 3/24/2007 11:52:45 AM
      FavoriteTrail: Stainburn
Duration Product Used: More than 3 years
      Price Paid: $50
      Purchased At: Chain Reaction
Strengths: Lightweight body, thick Cr-Mo axle and long grippy pins.
Weaknesses: Lightweight body (it's not too hard to take the corners off), poor seals, would be nice if fitted with sealed cartridge bearings.
Similar Products Tried: Outland flatties, Wellgo D2, Wellgo V8 generic copies.
Bike Setup: Schwinn Rocket 88 S2, Marzochi All Mountains, Kore bar and stem, Ritchey Logic cranks, Gore / Avid cables, Wilderness tyres, standard headset, brakes, wheels, shock, post and seat.
Bottom Line: There seems to be a lot of b!tching about the bearings here but the issue is the seals or indeed lack of an inboard seal altogether. Regular maintenance will keep them running sweet for years, just take it easy on rocks as the magnesium alloy body material is very, very soft. If you take a corner off you might lose a pin which does reduce the excellent grip. If you're a real pedal thrasher maybe you should be looking a lot higher up the ranks for some with the durability you need. For the rest of us these are a very grippy and comparatively light flattie.

Bike Setup: rmx, travis, 729, maxxis
Bottom Line: ive used them for two weeks, then headin home in a set of 4 stairs, the axe just bent... even the guy in the shop told me
" you ainīt going far with these pedals ..." moreover if you ride in a very rocky terrain, these pedals will melt away, magnesium is very soft apparently !

      Weaknesses: Brittle, basic bearing setup
      Similar Products Tried: Wellgo platforms
Bike Setup: 90s Trek 6500ZX (real aluminum, not Chinese), Manitou in the front
Bottom Line: These pedals have great grip (and they have left many divits in my shins), but they are also very brittle. I have already ripped several of the studs out along with the threads so that they can't be screwed back in. I wouldn't buy them again. It also uses the basic cone style bearings and they needed repacking after only a few months. I would say they'd be good for dirt jumping type stuff, but anything where you'll be bashing pedals on rocks I'd stay away.

      Purchased At: Jenson Usa
Strengths: light compared to other large platform pedals, strong axles, good traction, tought body, nice finish that adds good looks
Weaknesses: DO NOT HAVE CARTRIGE BEARINGS!!! they have plain loose ball bearings instead
      Similar Products Tried: many

Bike Setup: 2001 Mongoose Pro Valient; WTB Motoraptor 2.4 tires, Sun Mammoth rims/WTB speed disk hubs, formula activa mechanical disks, Avid levers, shimano deore shifters/LX deraillers, Syntace VRO bar/stem combo, WTB SSTX2K saddle, Rockshox Psylo SL fork/ Pro Deluxe rear shock
Bottom Line: Good pedals at a good price. They do not have the cartrige bearings like some places advertise. I dont really mind that, because plain ball bearings are super simple to service, just disassemble the pedals, pack it with some waterproof grease, reassemble, and you're good to go. I do that about every six months, and my pedals run smooth as butter all the time. And for the guy who said in his review that his pedals started coming loose on the axle, all you gotta do is snug up the nut that holds the pedal in place. Mine do not have this problem because I routinely check my bike and maintain it. Like I said at the beginning, these are good pedals, made by a good company, and can be had for a small price.

Weaknesses: The bearings on these things suck!!! I mean these bearings wear after just a few rides. Plus the bearings ARENT sealed and the pins cant be replaced.
Bike Setup: Kona Stinky Prime, 7" plates, Avalanche DHS rear shock
Bottom Line: The pedals arent worth the money. The bearings are total crap. After just a few months the pedal was rattleing around on the axle. I really like the look of the pedals and they function rather well but their lifespan is poor at best. Spend your money elsewhere.

Strengths: Strong, I haven't killed them yet.
Weaknesses: General crapness. Not very grippy (back of shoe slides around nicely, and they are crap in the wet too). BS advertising about cartridge bearings. Heavy (THEY ARE!). As they are crap, I consider the fact that I haven't killed them yet as a weakness too - when they die I will be happy to buy some better ones!
      Similar Products Tried: Wellgo stuff
Bike Setup: Still crapper than yours with these stupid pedals
Bottom Line: DON'T BUY THESE. Azonic still haven't changed their lying "sealed cartridge bearing" advertising, which annoys me sooo much that I am putting another review up about how crap they are. Even though I like the look of their saddles, I'll never buy another azonic product just to spite them. Ha ha.

      Weaknesses: Weight, bearings
Similar Products Tried: crappy cages that came with my bike which weren't any worse than these
Bike Setup: crapper than yours with these stupid pedals
Bottom Line: What is all this about "super-light" - these weigh A TON! Pick up some V8s and tell me I'm wrong. Also as said elsewhere on this page, they are not sealed bearing and I don't believe the body is made of magnesium either. Emailed azonic who said they would change the description on their website - that was atleast a month ago. If anyone knows what the american equivalent of the trading standards council is, give me a shout and I'll make a complaint.

These are crap - weigh about the same as a hippo, crap bearing, not that grippy either - get some V8s and don't bother with these - RIP OFF AT HALF THE PRICE.

      Duration Product Used: 6 months
      Strengths: Light
Weaknesses: Bearings are advertised as being cartridge and clearly are not. in fact the bearings felt tight notchy and dry out of the box. After 6 months of light riding they began to creak and get worse until there was lots of play in them. Its not just my pedals either, my mate bought some and they were the same straight out of the box.

And they look crap. they are advertised as being natural magnesium colour, so why paint them when they are already magnesium? Duh!
Similar Products Tried: DMR V12 Magnesium. Shimano 656. all still going strong
Bike Setup: Devinci Hucker, Marzocchi Z1 Freeride, Race Face Signature BB & Prodigy cranks, Hope M4 discs F&R, Race face Diablos stem and bars, Hope sport hubs on Mavic 519 rims.
Bottom Line: If you want some cheap flat pedals with low quality bearings that wear out as soon as you take them out of the box then get these pedals.

Do yourself a favour and spend the extra cash and get some quality products instead.

Azonic are happy to replace them under wartranty but i am hoping to get A-Frames instead. Watch out for the review about them.

Similar Products Tried: Tioga Surefoot MX Pro (slightly heavier, but awesome traction and infinite pin configurations)
Bottom Line: These pedals are light, cheap, and the pins are easily replaced, but the don't have enough traction for serious downhill. I use them for dirt jumping and mountaincross. Also, the bearings aren't terribly smooth, but that doesn't really matter.

Strengths: Light, relatively cheap, decent pedal for the $. They seem to grip pretty well and the traction pins are replaceable.
      Weaknesses: None so far.
Bottom Line: These are my first platforms, and I have been really happy with them. The pins are replaceable. They are not as nice as the A-Frames, but find them on sale and you get some bang for your buck. They are good platforms as far as I am concerned, though I am using them for working on jumping skills and sketchy stunts I want the freedom to bail on, not really huge stuff or technical downhill. They are super light. The bearings aren't the smoothest in the world, but for a cheap platform, they're still awsome. If you look for premium quality, you're looking at more money. If you want a little more bite and a nicer machined pedal, look into the A-Frames. For general usage, teh Fusion is hard to beat.

Similar Products Tried: Odyssey Twisted team. Nothing else like this
      Bike Setup: not worth putting
Bottom Line: Nice pedals. My feet can barely move at all. However that first pin got knocked out way to easily, took a nice chunk of magnesium with it as well so it can't be replaced. Apart from that nothing at all has gone wrong yet. I reccomend these pedals to anyone that doesn't use clipless.
