      Date Reviewed: 5/7/2008 9:32:25 PM
Duration Product Used: Less than 1 month
      Price Paid: $80
      Purchased At: LBS
Strengths: Solid. Sealed bearings. High quality construction and design
Weaknesses: A bit pricey for platform pedals
Similar Products Tried: Wellgo stock plastic cage pedals that came as original equipment.
Bike Setup: Kawasaki (frame from Ming Cycle in Taiwan) KDX2, completely upgraded from stock with Answer riser bar, Cane Creek headset, Rock Shox fork, Avid Single Digit 7 V-brake and brake lever set up. Good old reliable and strong Shimano square taper bottom bracket. SRAM drivetrain and Shimano/Sun Rhyno bombproof wheelset.
Bottom Line: These are great pedals. Wide. You get a great grip with these platform pedals. And they feel solid but not heavy.

Strengths: Were do i start. These pedals are so strong, and grip like nothing else. if u have 5-10's then its like some1 has superglued your foot to it.
Weaknesses: They do weigh abit if ur a weight freak.

Bottom Line: I had a set 2 years and didnt service them at all. didnt even touch them with a allen key or anything. they take the hits no problem. pins are super strong. but i did break them. the insides destroyed themselves on a ride. but i loved them so much i bough another set

      Duration Product Used: 1 Year
      Price Paid: $100
Purchased At: bike shop I work at
Strengths: Everything - see my previous review below.
Weaknesses: None - the price is high but Easton products are top quality.
Similar Products Tried: Most flats since the original Shimano DX in my bmx days.
Bike Setup: As per previous review below - Kona Dawg, but with the following upgrades; Saint cranks (double rings with bashguard - awesome strength - best cranks I've ridden other than XT), 07 XTR deraileurs & rapid fire shifters (the thumb or finger dual release is fantastic), Fox 07 Vanilla RLC fork 140mm travel (much better than my 06 Talas - plush coil spring, better damping and stronger overall build), 07 Fox Float rp23 shock (much better than 06 rp3), new wheels with instant engagement Hadley hubs, DT Comp spokes / Prolock nipples and Singletrack rims, and Chris King Headset.
Bottom Line: I clipped in on on Crank Brothers Mallets for 4 months but I feel much more relaxed and confident on flats. With any skate shoe with a soft grippy sole (I'm using old Etnies 'Pivot'),or MTB specific brands like 661 & Five Ten my feet stick like glue, but I know I can 'dab' my foot any time things get sketchy.
I'd say the guy who posted the bad review below must have hit a mighty big rock at warp speed 'cos I've hit mine on plenty of rocks with no problems other than trashed pins that need replacement. I've never had a pin ripped out of the pedal body yet (something that happens with some cheaper brands). The bearings have also held up fine - I took the pedals apart a few weeks ago and regreased internals for routine maintenance - still roll smooth as new.
Easton Flatboy are still the best flat pedal I've used.

Strengths: Bearings are awsome. Pins are incredibly grippy. Large platform feels good on rough terrain.
      Weaknesses: Weakness?
Bike Setup: Banshee morphine with 2005 888VF, double tracks, gazzi's, single speed.
Bottom Line: Amazing pedals! They are a bit expensive but are worth every penny. My foot has never slipped off of them even over the roughest terrain. I must warn you though, these are not good pedals to learn no footers with. Once you have those down go out and buy these right away.your shins will thank you.

Strengths: These are the most amazing pedals I've ever used. It feels like I'm clipped in. I wouldn't have spent this kind of money on a pedal, but now wont buy anything else.
Weaknesses: If you take a hard hit to the shin you'll need to have your leg amputated (if it's still attached).
Similar Products Tried: Azonic platform, Primo platform, Gilette straight razor
      Bike Setup: Chumba F4

Strengths: Great feel under foot, stable, grips well, good weight distribution, spin smoothly, look heavy duty?
Weaknesses: Weak spindle that isn't sold as a part from easton
Similar Products Tried: cheaper pedal Brand unknown because name worn off from hitting rocks (we have lots of rocks in NJ)
Bike Setup: Giant DH, World Cup fork
Bottom Line: 2nd day using pedals, hit a rock, bent spindle, can't get new spindle from easton, throw in garbage, go back to cheaper pedals that have taken many harder hits on rocks...easton pedals= bad investment, sucks! Don't understand easton's logic not being able to purchase a new spindle on a high end pedal, all of their other products I've used have been great.

Weaknesses: they turn your legs into hamburger meat w/out shin gaurds. they're a little heavy, so they might not be the best pedals 4 xc riding, it really just depends on preference.
Similar Products Tried: primo tenderizers, tested lots of other dh flat pedals
Bike Setup: 04 santa cruz bullit, manitou minute, hayes 6", race face dh cranks, protaper riser bars, sun rhino lites w/xt hubs........
Bottom Line: grippiest pedals ever ridden with. deffinetly should buy 'em, but might want to get some shin gaurds if you dont have them already.

      Date Reviewed: 7/10/2004 7:28:17 PM
Duration Product Used: Less than 1 month
      Price Paid: $72
      Purchased At: Go-Ride.com
Strengths: + Grippy pins (replacements available at hardware stores)
+ Concave shape, helping to position foot better on pedal
+ Easton quality materials & workmanship
Weaknesses: - Bearings not as smooth as with other pedals I've tried
      - Grip-pins can shred your shins and calves to pieces! Wear shin protectors!!! Sharp edges on pedals too!
Similar Products Tried: Shimano DX, DX 636, 535, 747 pedals.
Bike Setup: 04' Turner DHR, Marzocchi Shivers, XT mix, Hayes Mag HD discs, King/Hope 20mm thru hubs, Mavic EX 729 (321) rims.
Bottom Line: Although a bit pricey, these pedals are even grippier when used with flat skateboard shoes like Vans/Airwalks. The pins are replaceable with pins/screws from your local hardware store at a nominal cost. Coming from SPDs mainly, I am still getting used to the feel of platform pedals, but overall I'm impressed.

A warning to all those using these pedals - you will need to wear some form of shin protection! My legs look like I was attacked by a mountain lion!

Bottom Line: They're expensive for platforms but they're grippy and look damned flashy. I'm sure they'll be pretty tough, though I hope mine hold up to the water for a long time. It floods in this city!

Submitted by Sue a Downhiller from UK
      Date Reviewed: 9/17/2000 1:13:41 PM
      Duration Product Used: 1 Year
      Price Paid: $150
Strengths: To ride they are by far the nicest pedals I've ever used - as grippy as it gets.
Weaknesses: The seals are absolute crap - almost impossible to use them in the UK (or anywhere else where it ever rains) - I have to strip them down, clean and regrease them every 2 weeks and even then they occasionally seize. Get through bearings at a rate of knots.
Similar Products Tried: Shimano DX, V12's, sharkbites
Bottom Line: Fantastic to ride but utterly useless for anywhere where it might rain. For a pedal that costs £100 the quality is absoulute crap.

      Date Reviewed: 6/28/2000 12:48:16 PM
      Duration Product Used: 3 months
      Strengths: tough, stiff, well made.
pins keep your feet on the pedal.
Weaknesses: Ouch, pins and cage bite hard on your shins. Wear your leg armor for DH and urban/jumping!
Similar Products Tried: ritchey, 747, 545, old style cage
      Bike Setup: RM6 w/ Z1 QR20, Hayes, XT/Raceface drivetrain, C. King
Bottom Line: these are great pedals are DH, urban & light/casual cross-country. I prefer SPD for climbing.

They are tough, cool-looking and should last for years.
I do think they should not cost that much, since they lack the mechanical parts of SPDs.
      Just protect your shins kids!

Bottom Line: Have the Atomics (Easton produced 'em and Atomic designed), damn expensive but have smooth, stiff cartridge bearings - sweet. Huge grippy platform with nice concave profile, although I find it a bit painful with soft soccer sneakers... If you have money to burn on flatties these are it. I'd give them 5 stars if they were only $70 not $105.
