| FavoriteTrail: | Kanuga, Paris Mountain |
| Duration Product Used: | 6 months |
| Price Paid: | $55 |
| Purchased At: | REI |
| Strengths: | Durability, looks, COMPLETELY UN-CLOGGABLE, lots of float, engages from any side |
| Weaknesses: | Unrideable without clipless shoes. I know that's the point but if you lose a cleat on the trail you're stuck. It's going to be an uncomfortable ride out, ESPECIALLY if you're climbing out. |
| Similar Products Tried: | Platforms |
| Bike Setup: | Jamis Dakar, eggbeaters, Thomson stem, Monkeylite bars, BB5's, Truvativ FireX |
| Bottom Line: | Pedals have been awesome for me. All 4 wings are still on each pedal. I ride pretty rocky rooty trails 4 to 5 times a week and they've had their fair share of hard slams on rocks that I misjudged. Other people have had problems with durability but I really haven't had any issues. They haven't even ever clipped out on me when they hit stuff. Tight enough that they'll never let go while you're riding but lose enough to be easy on the knees and easy to get out of in a hurry if needed. Cleats seem to last. I've never had to replace the cleats or bolts. Granted I've only had them about 6 months but I ride nearly every day so they definitely get used. Great pedals, weight isn't really an issue to me with pedals, they aren't noticeable they just do the job they're there for. LOVE EM! |

| Strengths: | Ease of installation and use, strength |
| Weaknesses: | None discovered so far. |
| Similar Products Tried: | none |
| Bike Setup: | Motobecane phantom pro 29 |
| Bottom Line: | Cheap, great working pedals for entry level. Installation went smoothly (nothing to tune, just bolt them in) look great. I was a little bit afraid to strap myself to the bike (those are my first clipless pedals) but Egg beaters give you plenty of freedom so I actually didn't feel I'm clipped in at all. Also easy to take your foot our if there is a need for. I'm rather easy rider and so far did less than 100 miles with them but I'm very, very pleased with results. We'll see how they do over longer period of time. |

| Strengths: | Simple, lightweight, strong |
| Weaknesses: | none |
| Similar Products Tried: | Various Shimano SPDs as well as Wellgo and Radical SPDs |
| Bike Setup: | '08 GT Avalanche Custom '03 GT Avalanche Custom more bikes bikes and bikes |
| Bottom Line: | Excellent pedals. After having knee pain using Shimano and other SPDs I tried the Eggbeaters, I have no more knee pain due to the added float. Setup is super simple and takes mere minutes. Quality of the Crank Bros products has always impressed me and the eggbeaters do not disappoint. I have 3 sets of these pedals on all my bikes and will not use another pedal, PERIOD! They have stood the test of time and abuse by me (a 230lbs clydesdale) in rough XC trail riding. I even have the original set still going strong after a rebuild kit (which is also cheap and easy to do) since 2003. Eggbeaters rule! |

| Strengths: | simplicity. cleans easily. never gets gunked up with mud. 4-way clip-in. |
| Weaknesses: | none for me. |
| Similar Products Tried: | Shimano SPD |
| Bike Setup: | 07 Stumpy FSR Comp |
| Bottom Line: | I have used and raced these pedals for almost t20 years, and they are fabulous. On occassion take them apart and regrease them. It's so damn simple. I busted mine landing on a rock the other week, took them off, and had them replaced under warranty with NO hassle. But make sure you call first before you send them away. You need some sort of # for the warehouse. I am very happy with these pedals. |

| Purchased At: | Breakaway Bicycles, Kzoo, MI |
| Strengths: | Cannot be clogged by mud or dirt. Pretty easy to clip in and out of ... also, there is never any question about whether you are clipped in (unlike some other pedals) |
| Weaknesses: | A little higher friction than I would like on a pedal. My friends say they break easily, but I've abused mine pretty badly and they have held up OK so far. |
| Similar Products Tried: | SPD, toe clips |
| Bike Setup: | Trek Fuel EX 9.5 |
| Bottom Line: | Decent pedal for not too much money. I have a couple of sets of Candy pedals on order. |

| Purchased At: | Nashbar |
| Strengths: | Light, shed mud well, four sided entry, relatively inexpensive. |
| Weaknesses: | Weak wing. Broke with less than 400 miles. |
| Similar Products Tried: | Ritchie, look, shimano, wellgo |
| Bike Setup: | Intense tracer |
| Bottom Line: | Wing broke with little use. I don't recall hitting a rock or anything particularly hard. I just noticed that suddenly there was one less wing on the pedal. Unless you are doing very casual riding, look elsewhere or further up Crank Brother's line. I guess you get what you pay for. |

| Duration Product Used: | 1 Year |
| Price Paid: | $55 |
| Purchased At: | eBay |
| Strengths: | light weight, cheap, easy to use, look cool cleats are shallow (dont contact ground) which makes walking in riding shoes less awkward |
| Weaknesses: | the eggbeater "C" or chrome is a decent pedal but the wings are weak. i have smashed them into rocks twice whilst cranking, rendering the pedal useless both times. to their credit, Crank Brothers has repaired them for free. I'm upgrading to the "SL" or stainless models that my buds have for a little more strength. |
| Similar Products Tried: | good ole toe straps; remember those? Wellgo Ti SPD, Richie Logic SPD. |
| Bike Setup: | '01 Enduro trailbike. |
| Bottom Line: | The eggbeater is a great design. just do yourself a favor if you're hard on equipment; but the SL model. otherwise i recommend these to any rider |
