These pedals require flat shoes ( like 661's ) when you clip in the whole shoe makes contact. I clip in & out constantly, I don't get these other reviewers who are having problems. I love these pedals they are solid ( not light so mountain bikers who have road bike like set-ups look out ).
The bushings are very easy to service and I clean them before I ride just like my chain, and I keep the dirt and grunge off of them just like I do for my shocks.
True It took me a couple of weeks to dial in the entry & exit but that's to be expected. |

I love the feel of them when clipped in but it's hard for me to find the sweet spot. They also work well if your just goofy around without your mtn. bike shoes. I would give them 4 chilis if they were easier to find the sweet spot to clip in. Not the best choice if your in and out of your pedals a lot. Great choice for a dedicated downhiller |

i chose these peals after breaking THREE pairs of eggbeaters. The eggbeaters are great pedals except for one thing- if you're big and ride hard the spindles break. ALWAYS. so i thought lets find something heavy duty. i had used atom labs trailking pedals on my dh bike and they worked flawlessly. so i feltpretty good about the quiksteps. especially after reading these reviews. WOAH now come on guys, do you actually ride? i thied every adjustment possible. no go. maybe it's because i ride single speed. i don't think they make this pedal anymore. i wonder why? |

1st set came missing the inner washer allowing side to side movement on the spindle...got parts from Atomlab. Low profile requires bushings instead of cartridge bearings...strong though Not sure if actually a hinderance. Quality comes at a price. |

Easy to get into from front, back or top down. Easy to get out of even with the pins. Great for riding unclipped, grippy pins. Good float. Easy to maintain. Low profile, and good looking. Replaceable pins. |

I needed a pedal that I could clip in riding the flats and going up the trails and mostly unclip for the downhills, rocks and roots and learning to jump, etc etc. These are prefect for me. The pins are really grippy when standing on them and the clip mechanism moves out of the way, but when seated, allow you to unclip really easily by twisting as for most pedals. The pins do not hinder you positioning your feet around when seated and unweighted, if anything a little bit too much movement (might be my bad technique) but when standing the pins keep them planted great which is what I want. Work best with flat soled shoes. I'm using 661 launch spd shoes. Easy to maintain. Just remove the outer screw in the shaft, slide the shaft out, grease the bushes and back in. While most pedals don't require a lot of maintanence, it is so quick to do these and in position that it doesn't matter doing it often and the more you keep it up the longer they will last. I will definately be getting another pair when these wear out, although the latest model doesn't appear to have pins so I'll try for the pinned model. It's all about personal preference and I prefer to clip in for the tame stuff and ride the platform for pushing my boundaries. If your a staunch clipped in rider then maybe you'd be better with something else but if you like clipless and platforms and want both, then I would highly recommend them. |
