from el segundo Date Reviewed: September 23, 2007 | | Favorite Trail: | beach bike path | | Duration Product Used: | Tested or demo'ed only | | Strengths: | Look nice. Have reflectors for commuting | | Weaknesses: | Bearings very rough. Felt like sand was inside them. Must be from Red China. | | Similar Products Used: | Campy, Ofmega, Vittoria, etc. Forte ATB Comp. | | Bike Setup: | Diamondback Wildwood Deluxe 2001 | | Bottom Line: | I just need a replacement for the wife's bike. She doesn't ride much, so I thought this would do. No way! The kid at the Performance store, wearing a shop apron that said, "Spin Doctor", said, "yeah, they're all like that".
I asked him how on earth they could sell something like that. He said everyone who spun the spindle rejected them. I bought the next level up Forte ATB Comp pedals, and they are smooth as silk. They are made in Taiwan, if that means anything.
I can't imagine how a reputable outfit like Performance would have such a low quality product on their shelves. They must not do any quality control inspecting.
