| Weaknesses: | Falls apart! The alien screws that held the pedals together came out complete on one side of the pedal, and for some reason mine came with fully threaded pegs that were great until they just un-threaded themselves loose and I lost a handful of them. |

| Bottom Line: | Crank brothers 50/50x's were junk, they worked/felt well for awhile then they gradually started feeling like my stock pedals - they fell apart on me so I sold them off with one of my bikes after I replaced all the missing parts. The only plus to these pedals was the Crank Brothers Co. support, they sent me some replacement screws and pegs for free after I contacted them via email. |

| Bottom Line: | I love these pedals. I ordered the longer pins and traction has been fantastic. The set screw came loose on the first ride and I lost four of them. Was very bummed. Sent an email to Crank Brothers and they immediately sent me replacement pins at no charge. I was completely impressed with the customer service. Definitely do a little lock-tite on the set screws, and if you are riding it wet or slop, go for the longer pins. For the price (including the longer pins), great peddle, solid traction, no problems with bearings (been using them in the winter muck...) I definately recommend these, especially with the customer support I received. |

| Bottom Line: | Flashy, cool looking pedal that has good grip when dry but get it wet and it's super slippery. The pedals have a large surface area, much larger than the zu zus but I think I would prefer the zu zu's. Oh yeah, the stupid 50 50 fell apart on me, just riding down a sidewalk (not even in the mountains)and the tiny little screws that hold in the removable plate had worked free and the whole plate fell off... so now I am short 2 screws... make sure to loctite everythng on these pedals with the good red stuff. |

But crank brother sent me a whole brand new set of pedals, I can't complain about customer service like that. Thank you Crank Bros. (Gearworks cyclery is great too) These pedals look great and work great. |

| Strengths: | Great overall design, serviceable, great performance, replaceable pins. Pins are threaded in so you are free to replace the factory pins with a different hight pin or add/remove pins to fit your riding style. |
| Weaknesses: | Replaceable pins. Had to reapply red industrial strength loctite in the first week. Main spindle bearings were a bit sloppy out the factory and had to tighten up the left petal prior to using it. However, great thing about serviceable petals is you can service them. |

| Bike Setup: | Lower profile hardtail with more urban setup, but can still perform great on single-tracks in more cross-country style riding. |
| Bottom Line: | Despite the initial problems I had on first few times out, I love these petals for my style of riding and they are great for their intended purpose! If you want a great freeride/urban or even cross-country petal you can service and customize, these are a great choice! Just buy a small bottle of red-industrial strength loctite to accompany them. :) If you are looking for a petal to slap on and never want to mess with or service till you want to replace them, then perhaps this petal is not for you. Buy a one piece molded petal and you'll be happier. Seems shoe choice is also making a different as a hard-soled shoe doesn't grip as well as softer more flexible shoe. Something to think about, but this might be how all flat petal perform. |

| Bottom Line: | sorry, but i don't like having my feet "attached" to the bike. these pedals provide a large, stable platform. grip is exceptional. coupled with a pair of fiveten impacts and your feet aren't going anywhere. these pedals have removable plates. after my second ride, i noticed a rattle and upon further inspection discovered one of the screws to be missing and the remaining screws were loose. contacted crankbrothers and they promptly sent replacement screws (pre-coated with lock-tite). have not lost a screw since and have not had to re-tighten. |

| Bottom Line: | This is a long term review update for the CB 50/50X. I've hammered these pedals for 1 1/2 plus seasons at the Mammoth Mtn Bike Park 3-4days a week. They are holding up well and the wide platform provides an excellent base for freeride/dh assuming you replace the short pins. By design, most of the punishment inflicted on the 50/50's occurs on the plates. I expect long use out the pedal because I can replace the plates and the pins easily for a reasonable price. I think the wide, low profile design of the pedals along with the replaceable plates makes the maintenance hassles worth it. I recommend these pedals to anyone riding flats in dry conditions. |

I made the switch back to platforms after riding for a season with clipless pedals and have been very pleased with my purchase. I've read many reviews claiming the pedals don't have a lot of grip...I think these individuals need to take a look at the type of shoes they are putting on their feet. There is a long pin kit made for the pedals for a reasonable price for those who think they need it. Great pedals! |

| Bottom Line: | I put these on my wifes bike (bought new a couple of weeks ago) before a vacation in Moab. Riding down Porcupine Rim, three of four of the silver plates came off. I am sure the pedals took some abuse on the ride, but I certainly expect better performance from a pedal made by Crank Bros. I will replace them with one piece units. Although the design looks good with these plates keyed to the pedal body top and bottom, there is obviously load going into the two little screws causing them to fail. |

Did you ever think of wearing a "skate" shoe with these pedals? It would help you 1000 X's sense they hook up with any flat pedal nicely.. So stop complaining! |

One of the pedals lost all the plate screws and the bearings got messed up, I contacted CB and after I sent them the broken pedal, they sent me a new one, no questions asked. Then I lost more plate screws, I once again contacted them and they sent me a bag of about 10 of them without any problem. Very good customer service, very quick to respond and very helpful. |
