$60.00 | | Purchased At: | Retro City Cycles | | Strengths: | Pegs will make you scream for mercy, but you'll never lose grip, even in wet conditions. Bomb proof pedal, beat the sh*t out of it and it won't break. | | Weaknesses: | Cartridge bearing isn't a smooth spinner but perhaps that is for the best. They will eat your legs for breakfast if you slip and your shoe soles if you don't slip. Maybe a bit pricey... | | Similar Products Used: | Some BMX platform that froze on me in two weeks. | | Bike Setup: | GT Avalanche 1.0 with some goodies. | | Bottom Line: | I have a 2008 model and the pegs are more than apt to give you a great day of grip and a bad day skin loss if you actually lose a pedal. That has happened to me twice in six months of daily (I repeat, daily) 20 mile hikes with them. Older models may have blew but the new ones are bad boy toys. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

$80.00 | | Purchased At: | The Peak | | Strengths: | Super strong, Spikes stick to shoes in any terrain. Look great. | | Weaknesses: | Bearings needed to be replaced after a year of abuse. | | Similar Products Used: | any platform pedal | | Bike Setup: | KHS FR2000, Romic, Dropoff, Avid, Shimano, etc. | | Bottom Line: | Alot of people talk sh#t about these pedals, and I understand some of the complaints. After the bearings turned to dust, I simply sent them back to truvativ and they sent me back a brand new pair. Honoring the warrenty. Gotta love it. I paid 80 bucks and will never have to buy another pedal again. For this you all five flaming chillies or turds depending how you look at it. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

The pins are way too small and ripped up the sole of my shoe. | | Similar Products Used: | the two best pedals out there: Transition Stepdown and Specialized Mag 2 | | Bottom Line: | These pedals are tough but I would never buy them. The small pin size makes them so slick even though I tried a few different shoes. Spend your money on some Stepdown's from Transition: www.transitionbikes.com | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

I tried different shoes & made no difference. They are advertised as having replacable pins but you can't get longer ones. The pins are smaller than the little grub screws most others use. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

$54.00 | | Purchased At: | damned luck i got these cheap | | Strengths: | the main body is strong, and i like the fact that they use an allen wrench. They don't flex at all, nice and stiff. | | Weaknesses: | The bearings started squeking after one good ride, (9ft airs, and drops to). I work at a shop and I'm gonna see what i can do with these to fix them. I'll keep you guys posted(you can buy aftermarket bearings, you just need a puller) | | Similar Products Used: | take your pick. Stock GT flats with pins are still the best. | | Bike Setup: | SS chucker 1.0, all custom, I'd recommend PIKE 426 fork they are nice. | | Bottom Line: | buy if you have the means to work on your bike otherwise, you'll be investing in a money pit. Remembe I'll try to keep you guys post as to that i do to possibly fix these. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

$110.00 | | Purchased At: | Norco | | Strengths: | light weight for a freeride/downhill pedal | | Weaknesses: | not very grippy, wear shin guards on rocky downhill because you dont want those pins impaling your leg. Bearings went staright away and seized up...causing on one ride for my pedal to then unscrew itself from the crank arm...nice one truvativ!...£60 isnt what they are worth! | | Similar Products Used: | with the money i got from the warranty..due to no replacements available i went and treated myself to some magnesium v12 with Ti axles | | Bike Setup: | Norco A-line, Marzocchi 888 RC, mavic deemax, saint comp., titec el Norte saddle, raceface diabolous headset-stem-bars,Maxxis minion tyres, hope 6 mono brakes, 5th element shock, MRP...DMR V12 MAG/Ti PEDALS | | Bottom Line: | Product put me in dangerous situation...last thing you need on a downhill run is your pedal seizing up and then unscrewing itself from the crank... research these things, now that i have looked at the reviews i have now realized i hould have stuck the DMR's on sooner...

Noisy. Not a durable shore pedal. | | Similar Products Used: | wellgo b29s | | Bike Setup: | team shore. 888s. saint hubs, cranks, brakes, der. Supra D rims. | | Bottom Line: | After 5 monthes of riding a couple times a week , they started to sound all dried up and wobble a bit. A little grease will help that....but you can't access the bearing assembly to grease. Bit of a problem. Now it sounds like I have gravel in my pedals, and have lots of play in them. Plus, they are like 100 bone or more to replace. Gonna try something else. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

from Finland Date Reviewed: August 22, 2005 | | Favoriate Trail: | local trails | | Duration Product Used: | 6 months | | Purchased At: | LBS | | Strengths: | Look cool Strong, mine have lots of scratches and gouges but nothing is bent Pins work, but sometimes my shoes still bounce to a bad position. | | Weaknesses: | Bearings did not last | | Similar Products Used: | none really | | Bike Setup: | Banshee Scirocco, MX Comp Air 105 fork | | Bottom Line: | The pedals were, until yesterday, on my first real mountain bike. I ride a mix of bumpy and smooth loops that take me from 1 to 4 hours. After each ride I gently wash the sand/mud/whatever off the bike. Looks like something (soapy water?) has got into one of the pedals and now it is binding. I suspect the hole at the bottom of the hex mounting screw. Putting oil there seemed to help temporarily.
Now I have Time Atac XS pedals and a pair of XC shoes whitch I plan to test ride later today. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

from Whistler Date Reviewed: July 31, 2005 | | Duration Product Used: | 3 months | | Strengths: | Strong metal, pins didn't brake, never seized | | Weaknesses: | very notchy, the pedal moves slightly in and out on its axel, makes annoying noises, not too gripping | | Similar Products Used: | Azonic A-frames | | Bike Setup: | Cove Peeler | | Bottom Line: | Got them stock on a Team NS and swapped them to my Peeler when I got that. I have a real hard time keeping my feet on the pedals especially when wet. I believe the bearings are wearing out since there is side to side play on the pedal axel. It feels like it is my BB, but I know that it is the pedals. This makes them uncomfortable for pedaling on skinnies and creates some creaking, clunking noises. I'm ditching these for those A-frames. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

$70.00 | | Purchased At: | Truvativ | | Strengths: | Strong, virtualy indestructable, awesome aesthetics | | Weaknesses: | Don't get them wet | | Similar Products Used: | Wellgo, Azonic, & FreeAgent flat pedals | | Bike Setup: | Intense M3, 888s, Truvativ BB-Cranks-Pedals, Sun-Ringle hubs & SingleTrak rims, Kenda Nevegals, MRP System3. | | Bottom Line: | These are awesome flat pedals. I've been using the same ones for over a year and have had no bearing problems; I ride about 2-3 times a week. Your feet stay in place, they are burly and can take a beating or 20, and they look nice. The only problem I've noticed is that when your shoe/pedal gets a little wet, your feet can slip a bit. This is because the pedal is not recessed and the Truvativ logo is raised. I've had my feet slip once or twice on a drop and it really hurt. Maybe if they took ovv that raised logo and put some set screws in instead of pins this would resolve the problem. Still, overall the best flats I've used. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

$77.00 | | Purchased At: | Beyondbikes.com | | Strengths: | The look nice and are sweet when they work. | | Weaknesses: | They stopped working after one race. Their warranty department made me send them back to beyondbikes.com who has sat on them for a friggin month waiting for a RMA from Truvativ. | | Similar Products Used: | Wellgo $20 | | Bike Setup: | Custom Black 02 StinkyDEE with Romic & Z150 | | Bottom Line: | I am so friggin pissed off. For the price of these pedals they should spin for years and years. Oh and by they way the bearings are not accessable by you the consumer as advertised. And they would not let me return them directly back. I used to be a big fan of Truvativ but this shows me that they do not have thier together.

$40.00 | | Strengths: | -they look cool -good sealed bearing -tough and regid -big platform with grippy pins | | Weaknesses: | -heavy? It is not a big problem for me. | | Bike Setup: | GTS M5 | | Bottom Line: | Well, they are good pedals. The price is reasonable and the sealed bearings are great. They are still running smooth after 1000 km (around 1700 miles, I think) ride. The main body can take lots of beating without being damaged. Moreover, the pins are much better than those of Shimano DX, they grip as well as Shimano DX does, but they never bend or need replacement!
Both Shimano DX and Truvativ Holzfeller are nice pedals, but the pins of Truvativ Holzfeller are much better. Oh! did I mention that?
It's a good choice for less expensive pedals. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

$100.00 | | Purchased At: | lbs | | Strengths: | Wide platform with great traction pins. | | Weaknesses: | Bearings and seals. | | Similar Products Used: | Cheap mosh pedals. | | Bike Setup: | Bullit, boxxer team, Hussefelt 28/38, Aireal Industries, Mavic, Azonic, X9 | | Bottom Line: | In the three months that I have owned these they have spent less than two weeks on my bike accounting for about ten hours of riding. After six hours the bearings in the first set gave out and were duly sent in on a warranty claim. Seven weeks later a new pair arrived and were attached to the bike. After one four hour ride the bearings in both pedals were shot, the left one very notchy and sounding dry. The ride was a wet one in the rain but new pedals with an extra lip seal should last longer one would think. They are a great pedal to ride on and I will persist with them until the warranty runs out, however many pairs that may be. Hopefully they will redesign them in the near future so I will be able to use them for more than one ride. Those that are loyal to Truvativ will love these as long as they buy two pairs so they can still ride when the others are being repaired/replaced. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |
