$1.00 | | Purchased At: | Nashbar.com | | Strengths: | Keeps the derailleurs smooth, good for cables. Nice dispenser. | | Weaknesses: | Attracts dirt | | Bottom Line: | I suppose this stuff does it's job. It comes in a little tube and has a needle on the end so there's not much waste. I always try to wipe away any excess, but it still attracts dirt. Oh well, you can't have it all. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

$1.00 | | Purchased At: | Nashbar | | Strengths: | Best cable lube I've ever found. | | Weaknesses: | I wouldn't use this as a chain lube. | | Similar Products Used: | 3 in 1, White Lightning, | | Bottom Line: | Don't bother using this stuff as chain lube. There are a ton of other products out for that purpose. Where this product excels is as a cable lube and general purpose lube (derailleurs, etc). I bought an early 80's bike to convert to singlespeed. The brake cables sucked, I thought I would need new housings and cables. However, a couple drops of Slippery Spitt into the housing ends and the brakes feel like new. I'm talking Ultegra new, not 80's crappy brake new. The needle helps a lot too. Right now I'm using this lube to keep some old stir plates alive at work. Everything else I've used just gets gummed up after a month or so and needs to be reapplied.

$6.00 | | Purchased At: | nyc | | Strengths: | um pretty good for cables. goes good on chains too.cleans off very easily.and it is not affected by temperature amplitudes... one bottle goes a long time.does not have the classic motor oil smell, which is good if you keep your bike in your room like me. | | Weaknesses: | washes off in a wet ride and it tends to dry up quickly. | | Similar Products Used: | engine oil, differential oil, alot of the so-called bike specific lubes...
| | Bike Setup: | fairly customized trek 4500-xt hubs and derailours,avid 185 brakes,lx crank,b-25 pedals... | | Bottom Line: | good stuff. I mean c'mon,it's a freakin' lube for pete's sake!what do you expect from it?the stuff does it's job. period. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

No real problems with it on my road bike. | | Weaknesses: | Lasts 2 rides max, washes off (stream crossings) quickly, ttracts dust. | | Similar Products Used: | Tri-flow, now trying Dumonde Tech | | Bike Setup: | mtn., road and cruiser bikes | | Bottom Line: | Probably a fine lube for a road bike, but not an effective lube (attracts dust, washes off easily, etc.) on a mtn. bike. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

from Venice, CA USA Date Reviewed: June 22, 2000 | | Duration Product Used: | 6 months | | Strengths: | Works well on a fishing reel. | | Weaknesses: | But not so well on a bike. | | Similar Products Used: | Pretty much all of them. | | Bike Setup: | It has a chain, just like yours. | | Bottom Line: | Not horrible stuff, just not as good as Pro Link. It lubes well when new but only lasts a few hours. Runs pretty clean for a wet lube, but washes off on a wet ride.
BTW, I wasn't kidding - it really is good on a fishing reel. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

from NorCal Date Reviewed: December 23, 1999 | | Favoriate Trail: | Ho Chi Minh Trail | | Duration Product Used: | 3 months | | Strengths: | slippery sheds mud well awesome shifting | | Weaknesses: | collects dust and dirt (way less than pedros though) | | Similar Products Used: | just about all of them | | Bottom Line: | Ultimate shifting with this lube. Shifts way better than wax, but unlike wax, collects dust. Shifts just as good as pedros synlube, but w/ pedros you had to clean ur cogs and chain after every ride. With slippery spitt all you need to do is apply a generous coat and wipe chain dry, and this thing will last for a good week. | Overall Rating: |
