Strengths:The best lube that I can recommend. Gets into the links, Instantly quiets the chain. Apply and wait a few min to wipe off excess.
Weaknesses:Does collect some grime but better than Tri-flow and God-sake better than white lighting/Cheese cake lube.

Strengths:Super slick chain lube, great shifting and very low wear. After 10 years of riding and 4 years of using this stuff I'll confirm that it substantially reduces drivetrain wear. The only wet lube that doesn't collect gobs of fine dirt. Low maintenance, actually lasts longer and works better after 2-3 applications on a dirty chain than it does on a freshy scrubbed one.
Weaknesses:Your chain won't gunk up but the derailleur pulleys will. It's a very solvent lube that deposits what would usually cake on the chain onto the first sharp turn it sees. Easy to deal with though, you just gotta watch it and scrape it off before it gets riduculous. Fair to poor static corrosion resistance - it'll dry out in 6 months or less on an unridden bike.
    Similar Products Used:Everything.
Bike Setup:Cross country FS trailbike from the late 90's with many miles on it.
Bottom Line:The positive reviews here go back for years, there's a reason for that. The "wipe chain, apply liberally, let dry overnight then wipe again" advice from 2002 still applies. Not the best lube for clean freaks who sterilize their drivetrains every othe ride, but for people who just wanna ride without worrying about their chain lube there's nothing better if you use it right and pay attention to caking on the pulleys. ProLink's claims aren't hype - in my experience, the stuff just works.

Strengths:Keeps the chain lubricated for days. Repeals dirt rather then collects it. Keeps the chain spinning smoothly.

Similar Products Used:there is nothing similar
Bike Setup:Crupi Junior and Staats Cruzer
Bottom Line:I finished National #1 in 8 Novice in 2004 with Team Hurricane-Staats Racing and ProLink, a real winning combination. I used only ProLink the entire year and my drive train never let me down once. Need I say more? If you're using anything else, you're probably not winning.

I've been using wax lubricants on my road bike for about a year and this is just sooo much better first time out. I cleaned up my son's Kona last night and had kind of decided that I'd use the wax on his bike until I'd finished the bottle...but after this the wax just might be used as a paperweight. I'll check back in in a couple of months but its worth trying.

    Strengths:Minimal build-up
    Good longevity is dry conditions
    Effective lubrication
Works well even in cold weather
    Weaknesses:Mediocre longevity in wet conditions
    Strong odor
Similar Products Used:Finish Line cross country, White Lightning, Deomonde, Tri-Flow
    Bike Setup:2003 Trek XO Cyclocross
Bottom Line:I've tried many different lubes and this is easily my favorite. It offers all the benefits of thinner dry lubes (Tri-Flow) and thicker wet lubes (Finish Line Cross Country), without the grease and dirt, or the build-up of wax lubes (White Lightning), especially in cold weather. It offers longevity than Tri-Flow, lubricates just as well, but there is minimal build up. I've used it regularly for over a year and I've never had to clean it. I just wipe it off before a fresh coat is applied.

The longevity is very good in dry weather, but in wet weather it does wash off somewhat quickly. But for a lube which offers effective friction-reduction with minimal build-up, this only a minor gripe. Hardcore mountain bikers will probably want a thicker lube, but for normal riders, Prolink is a great buy.

Strengths:-lasts longer than Finish Line Teflon dry lube
-smoother, you can feel it on your hand
    -cheaper than Finish Line
-good bottle design, lube will not come out unless u push the bottle lightly
Weaknesses:-doensn't come in a bigger bottle

Bottom Line:I highly recommend this product to those people that have been using Finish Line Teflon Dry Lube. It will be better!!! You can feel it right off your hands. It doesn't attract as much dirt and dust and it lasts longer. Now I don't even need to use the degreaser unless I have been riding in extreme conditions. Although I haven't tried it in rainy conditions, it feels like a lube between wet and dry. Also it's cheaper than Finsh Line. On the Finish Line Teflon Dry lube, the excess can not be wiped. If it is then you won't have a layer protecting oil on the chain which could lead to rust easily. You probably want to put grease on cables, not lube. Too bad Vancouver bike shops don't carry Rock n' Roll lube.(or do they????????????) A lot of people say it is better.

All I can say is that it will be good on long rides, so try it if you are a Cross Country rider. Buy it, road bikers, you will not regret. I'm not to sure about freeriders and downhillers but you can always give it a try.

Strengths:cleans and lubes, fairly smooth, easy to find
Weaknesses:doesn't last, not as smooth as rock n roll
Similar Products Used:rock n roll extreme & gold, white lightning, generic silicone spray
Bike Setup:2001 K2 Zed Team, 9.0 Shifters, derailluers, and levers, Avid brakes, RockShox Duke SL, Trailblasters
Bottom Line:This stuff was OK. Shifting was acceptable while it lasted. Rock n Roll is way better. When I got some more rock n roll lube I couldn't believe how my dirt it brought out of my
chain. I had just used the pro-link a week earlier and the only riding I did since was on my trainer. I guess Pro-link doesn't do such a good job of cleaning while lubricating like the bottle claims.

Not bad compared to the others, but not great compared to RnR!

GET RnR. It's smoother, cleaner, and lasts longer.

Strengths:None wax, doesn't gunk up like White lightning. Dry and invisible like there's nothing there. Buttery smooth shifting. Self cleaning when re-applying. Great on cleats and pedals. Inexpensive, as far as I'm concern.
Weaknesses:Have to relube on every other ride. Doesn't repel dust on my Mtnbike, and seem to attract exhaust dust (black dust) on my road bike. You can smell it.
Similar Products Used:White Lightning, Rock'N'Roll lube, Finish Line
Bike Setup:Gary Fisher Sugar 2, Lemond Zurich
Bottom Line:Dispite the weakness mentioned, ProLink is still many times better then White Lightning and other wet lube.

Works best when applied day before the ride, pour until dripping wet, let it stay for an hour, then wipe dry. Self cleaning during application.

Sorry guys, 1 chili off - Buttery smooth shifting and chain on 1st ride after application, but not quite so on the 2nd and third ride...where the chains start to feel scratchy. Most of my off-road rides are on hard packed, dry, sandy areas, maybe that's why. Doesn't attract dirt, but the lighter dust is a different matter, seem to scrub off or absorb the lube or somethin. Have to apply after 2 or 3 rides. On my road bike, seem to attract that black dust from diesel or gas exhaust, but require lubing after ever 3 to 4 rides.

Still a great chain lube, works great on my cleats too. I'm no fan of wax based lube, but I've just start using Rock'n'Roll and see how it performs by comparison. In the meantime, I have no problem recommending ProLink, and would go back it if Rock'n'Roll doesn't work out.

Strengths:The best chain lube I ever uses. It doesn't attract dirt. The chain doesn't require frequent lube as needed with other lubes.
Weaknesses:A little pricey. Well, all the bike lubes are expensive. (Almost as expensive as perfume)
However it doen't require you to apply and clean as frequently as with other lubes. In the long run, it's actually cheaper. It also protects the chain better.

It also doesn't require frenquent application.

Strengths:This product does not attrack dirt or 'gunk up'. Also, it is not a 'dust magnet'. Easy to apply, too. A good value as it is a lubricant and protectant.
    Weaknesses:Limited distribution
Similar Products Used:TriFlow for umpteen years and FinishLine lubes before that.
Bike Setup:'02 Yeti Kokopelli FS- It's a tribe thing...
Bottom Line:A great value. Why? You don't have to reapply after each ride and the gunk factor is seriously minimal. The chain is super quiet, too. I would not abandon your current lube if you are happy with it, but if you can find this one at your local shop, it may just become your priority lube.

Bottom Line:Performs well in dry conditions and does not cause gunk to build up over time. If you ride in wet conditions it will wash off -- reapply right away to prevent chain rust. I use Finish Line Cross Country lube if I know I'm going to be riding in the rain. No lube will work well in both extreme wet and dry, dusty conditions -- for wet conditions you need a wet, sticky lube -- in dry conditions the sticky lube will attract dust and turn into sludge. ProLink is great because it will flush out the sticky lube after the conditions turn dry again -- you never have to take the chain off to soak it or run it through a chain washing machine. Just wipe the chain down, put on the lube, wipe off the excess, and you're done!

If your chain is exposed to harsh conditions esp. where there is lots of dirt than you must have a lube with ability to capture and float the crud outta touching surfaces. No super slippery scheme will work in this case. I absolutely LOVE this product for road or dry conditions...you chain will sing and will stay clean.

Real riders know that you have to bite the bullet and apply heavier lube in harsh racing / training conditions dot period.
