It's thick, it collects everything on your chain and whips out lube cobwebs. Thank god I didnt get any of it on my clothing.

I had to have the store owner order it for me. It took almost 4 weeks to get it in and the result - I was very disappointed. The most expensive lube I've ever bought.
I had cleaned my bike, used the product and had to re-wash the back end of the bike after the very first ride. Thank god I didnt get any of it on my clothing.

I use it on every bike my paws work on. I recommend dumping your tri-flow bottal out, washing it and pour some Phil's in it. I use tenacious oil for freewheels, component pivots, pretty much any tight place where you want your lubricant to stay put, but can't use grease.
It is really sticky, about halfway between an oil and a grease. Get a bottle, you'll find plenty of uses, and there's nothing else like it.

First, apply Phil's oil liberally. Then wipe of excess. Then (here's the secret!), cut the Phil's oil with WD40. Spray a little WD40 onto a clean cloth and wipe down the chain to remove excess Phil's oil. Just a little bit of experience will allow you to get the right coating with Phil's oil everytime. It works well in dusty conditions (the only conditions I really experience here), provides a much smoother and longer lasting chain-ring/cog interaction than I have previously experienced. The chain, rings, and cogs also seem to clean up easier than with other "dry" lubes. I use to reapply Boes T-shield every 50 miles or so, now I go about 100 miles between cleanings/reapplications with the Phil Wood Tenacious Oil/WD-40 combination (I like a smooth/clean chain). | | Value Rating:Overall Rating: |

I get winter road grit everywhere, especially the drivetrain, and when it's wet, regular summer lubes just wash off after one round trip. Phil's Tenacious stays on for weeks at a time. Just make sure you wipe off the excess when you apply it, otherwise you'll get little strings of lube coming off the rear derailleur pulleys, not that it's really detrimental, just messy.

WL, Pedros IW & ED, TF, FL | | Bottom Line: | Phil's is great for wet and muddy rides, but it attracts sand and dust when the trail is dry. One solution, for long rides when the trail is mostly dry, but with some mud or water crossings, where stuff like WL or IW will wash off: Apply Phil's, work it in, wipe completely dry, then cover with IW or WL. This trick helped me through the 1999 Paris to Ancaster Tour (65 km on/off road), when it rained for the last hour, then snowed. The bike and I were covered in muck, ice and snow. Ritchey hard tail | | Bottom Line: | I have used this sthuff for almost 10 years and swear by it. Clean your chain every couple of rides with solvent, dry with a rag, and then liberally apply Phil's green goo and your chain will practically last forever. I used one XT chain for seven years before it finally gave up the ghost (and that was after thousands of miles of pretty hard riding).
It really works well in very wet and muddy conditions but be forewarned - it gets real dirty especially in dusty climes but that does not seem to affect it's performance. | | Overall Rating: |
