    Date Reviewed: June 26, 2006
    Duration Product Used:3 months
    Price Paid: $5.00
    Purchased At:toyworld
Strengths:Easy to apply. Doesnt attract dirt/grit.
    Weaknesses:Small bottle for price paid
Similar Products Used:Some hardware store wet oil.
    Bike Setup:Shogun Metro SE
Bottom Line:Good quality lube which doesnt attract too much dirt. Living in a town where we get 6 months of nothing but rain and then 6 months of no rain at all i have to change my oil to accommodate. This oil so far hasnt let me down and i recommend it to all. I havent really tried any other brands but i havent had any delemmas with this one so why change.

    Favoriate Trail:Brecon
Duration Product Used:More than 3 years
    Price Paid: $7.00
    Purchased At:halfords
Strengths:Works really well when it's dry. It is quite clean.
Weaknesses:It REALLY does not do anything at all in the UK Winter- it washes off very easily.
Similar Products Used:pedros extra dry. Other wet lubes.
    Bike Setup:ready for DH mayhem
Bottom Line:The bottom line is, I just cannot get on with wet lubes, they are too messy- so even in the UK Winter, I still apply dry lube -even though it is bad for my transmission (the lube falls off exposing my chain, gears).

In the summer months, this lube does exactly what it says on the can, but for me, pedros extra dry is just as good if not better.

Favoriate Trail:West Virginia National XC course
    Duration Product Used:2 Years
    Price Paid: $5.00
    Purchased At:local bike shop
    Strengths:Very clean. Exceptionally clean.
Not sure what the guy below is talking about.
Its a dry lube. Dry = clean.
Also, customer service is unusually good.
    no questions asked warranty policy.
They replaced my 3 yr old chain cleaner that developed cracks for free.
Weaknesses:Burns off after so many miles and leaves a clean chain.
Need to relubricate after 75 or so miles.
You should be doing bolt checks well before then anyway so not a big deal to apply more lubricant.
Similar Products Used:Triflow, pedros, white lightning, T9 boeshield, others
    Bike Setup:XC race hardtail &
    DH race bike
Bottom Line:Cleanest lube out there in my 12 yr MTB experience.
May need to relubricate more often than other brands but that is the only drawback.
Chain is cleaner when dry lube burns off than when first applied.
Very neat product good for cables and fork stanchions too.

    Duration Product Used:6 months
    Price Paid: $10.00
    Purchased At:Holmes Cycling
Strengths:Hmm... let me think for a while... nope, can't think of any!
Weaknesses:When you put it on it's alright but after you're riding for a while it turns to gel. Makes the chain dirtier than the mind of a 13 year old.
Similar Products Used:I haven't used anything this bad!
Bike Setup:2003 Trek Fuel 90 with IRC Mythos XC 2.1 kevlar tires and Kool Stop MTB (salmon and black) brake pads.
Bottom Line:Don't buy this crap! It doesn't work in dry or wet. You'll have to degrease after every ride to keep all the grit off. This is the worst lube ever! It probably does more harm to your chain than running it without lube would!

Strengths:Excellent in most conditions! Very versatile, prefer dry conditions but can assume wet conditions. It keeps chain ultra clean as it should be.
Bike Setup:Which of my bikes should I describe ???
Bottom Line:Steady application has to be done for best results.
For more hardcore muddy stuff I prefer Castrol motocross chain lube that sticks so much that it is hard to remove after use. I keep it for my dirty ride/winter bikes only. For the rest...
Go with the Finish Line Teflon!

Strengths:works, helps the noises, it is not so wet that it attracts dirt to your chain.
Weaknesses:I don't know I mean it is bike lube. I am just reviewing because IM bored
Similar Products Used:LOTS of other stuff.
    Bike Setup:specialized hardrock
Bottom Line:it works like the other day I was getting some noise. I degreased my chain then put this stuff on it and it is a lot better.

Strengths:dry- even seems to repel dirt
not as waxy as white lightning

    Weaknesses:goes fast
Similar Products Used:white lightning, finish line wet, krytech, shimano slippery/hypo spitt
    Bike Setup:trek 8500, easton ct2 bar
Bottom Line:everyone needs to do a few things when it comes to chains:
    1. get a new one
    2. degrease it 2-3 times
    3. use only dry lubes like this or white lightning
    4. your chain will never get dirty, unless its wet, when you should use a medium wetness lube
    5. after your chain gets dirty, degrease it 2 more times and squirt the dry stuff back on- you will be so happy the way your drivetrain works with a dry lube and a clean chain
    6. DO IT NOW

    Favoriate Trail:"What trail?"
Duration Product Used:More than 3 years
Purchased At:Seo Cycle (pro shop), LalaPort shopping mall at Tokyo Bay
Strengths:Despite Finish Line's claim that Krytec is their cleanest lube, the truth is that Teflon is way cleaner.
Weaknesses:I'm no lube authority outside of the handful I've used, but I'd have to say it would be hard to find something to be considered a weakness in this lube which could be improved upon by Finish Line.
Similar Products Used:Krytec (which works real well but is a b###h to clean off), assorted other lubes (during my experimental period--haha).
Bike Setup:two wheels, sprockets, tires, a saddle, etc . . . It's a Trek frame, the rest is me.
Bottom Line:It's really the best I've tried and I use it in all conditions. I can tell you I've tried a lot of different lubes for the dust, sand, occasional mud, and gravel conditions we get here in Japan, and this lube stayed the cleanest, broke down the least, and has been extremely easy to clean up after. What more could I ask for?

    Date Reviewed: December 3, 2001
    Duration Product Used:1 Year
    Purchased At:Anyplace has this
Strengths:Easy to use, "dry" lube means less mess. Works EXTREMELY well in dry conditions.
Weaknesses:Doesn't hold up very well when it gets wet outside.
    Similar Products Used:Triflon
Bike Setup:2002 Giant XTC with modifications, Konas before that
Bottom Line:Well this is sort of like the lesser of all evils. I don't think there is a "perfect" lube. If it holds up in wet, then it sucks up dirt. If it doesn't suck up dirt, then wet weather runs it off. I pretty much use this for every condition. I am a bit of a fanatic and so it wearing off when wet really doesn't bother me much, as I run my chain through a cleaning system pretty much after any dirty ride, and as needed otherwise. Definately a drop on each link, and then a little on a rag and run the chain through it. Have no complaints....it does what it supposed to do.

    Duration Product Used:1 Year
    Price Paid: $5.00
    Purchased At:a bike shop?
    Strengths:Doesn't get the dirt/dust.
    Quiet.
    Keeps the chain,rings,cassette looking shiny.
Weaknesses:Like all dry lubes, it doesn't last in the wet.
It also isn't very long lasting, chain needs a quick drop before every ride.
Similar Products Used:Finish line XC wet (green).
    Pedros Synlube.
    Pedros Ice wax
    Krytec
    Bike Setup:Giant ATX 890.
Bottom Line:A fantastic dry conditions lube. My only problem is that finishline don't do a larger bottle (such as 500ml) to make it cheaper for each ride. Best bet is to get this and a bottle of cross country (green) for wet condtions. You should be impressed.

Bottom Line:Excellent lube for dry Australian conditions.
Start with clean degreased chain, apply liberally, wipe off excess. After two or three dusty rides run chain through old towel to remove crud, then re-lube.
Degrease every two months and start again. Hey presto, the quietist, smoothest, longest lasting chain in the business!

Strengths:Very versitle lube, I use it just about everywhere. Very slippery stuff.
    Weaknesses:Doesn't seem to have any.
Similar Products Used:WD-40, Tri Flow, Boeshield, GT-85
Bike Setup:Schwinn homegrown with Older XT 8 spd stuff
Bottom Line:I've been using this since it came out in 1989 or so. I really like this lube, it works well in the cold, in the wet, in the dry........I have tried the others but now I use just the Teflon Plus (with the red cap) and can't complain. It's easy to find...every bike shop uses and sells it and although its more money that something like WD-40 it works way better.Long Island out!

    Purchased At:Wheelworks Belmont [MA]
Strengths:Penetrates beautifully; sets up fast and hard and transparent, gives a silky waxy coating to all the crankin' parts, der parts, cable parts, parts unseen. I also put it on all metal bolts, nuts, screws...tried it on my hockey skates and blew past all the old boys in my men's league!!! Ay-eeee!
Weaknesses:Comes out fast when bottle inverted and full...easy does it, or else you're also lubing the basement floor.
Similar Products Used:Pedro's, other viscous and messy products that attracted dirt and sand. This is the complete dry lube.
Bike Setup:GF Mt.Tam w/ XT crank, SST 98 saddle, Time MTB pedals, etc.
Bottom Line:I love using this product everywhere!

    Price Paid: $7.00
    Purchased At:LBS
Strengths:very clean, smooth chain, attracts no dirt, good in mud and sand.
Weaknesses:Very expensive for a small bottle.
Similar Products Used:Gunk lubricant spray with Teflon, wd-40, gunk silicone spray lubricant.
Bottom Line:It works very well, but be prepared to speand at least $14 in 2 weeks (lots of riding). Best spray lube ever.

Final thought: If you want a VERY similar lube with Teflon go for Gunk spray lube with Teflon. It works the same, smeels the same, and has the same consistancy. The Gunk spray gives you twice as much as the Finish line and only costs about $2 a bottle.

Strengths:Dryest lube on market. Attracts zero dirt. Don't believe me? Try it fo' yo'self. If not--clean the grease out of your ears. Perfect for dusty rides
    Weaknesses:uuuuuuuuuuhhh? what weakness.
Similar Products Used:All Finish Line Products
Bike Setup:Unicycle, Fixed Gear, 20", Big Wheel, DH racer, Cyclocross
Bottom Line:Ride everything!! This lube is MUST HAVE for dry dusty days. No joke. It will stay on the chain for a long time. No it is not as durable as Krytech or their Cross Country Lube, but this is a specific product for a specific type of riding. Get it straight. OUT

    Date Reviewed: April 22, 2000
Duration Product Used:More than 3 years
    Strengths:Thin - penetrates small crevices
    Weaknesses:Doesn't seem to last
Similar Products Used:Pedro's Synlube, Phil Wood Tenacious Oil
Bike Setup:C'dale SR500, Titus RacerX, Fisher Montare, C'dale road tandem
Bottom Line:I used to use this on chains, but it needed to be reapplied every ride, and didn't seem to stay on in the damp New England conditions I ride in. It also turned my drivetrain black and goopy. I still use it for lubing deraileur pivot points and cables because it is so thin it penetrates between parts and leaves a Teflon residue.
